Mets' Juan Soto reaches bases 6 times in a game for first time
Juan Soto's first eight days of June have gone a lot better than the final few weeks of May.
In the New York Mets' 13-5 win over the Colorado Rockies Sunday, Soto reached base six times — more than in any other game in his career. He contributed three singles and three walks as New York polished off a sweep of the Rockies.

After a mediocre start to the season, Soto had really sputtered in the final three weeks of May, enduring a 10-for-66 stretch that included a .511 OPS. It was as bad a stretch as he'd ever encountered in the majors.
He's enjoyed the calendar turning to June — and perhaps a slate that's included two series against the league-worst Rockies. This month, Soto is 9-for-26 with 12 walks — good for a .346/.564/.615 slash line and an 1.179 OPS. His OPS on the season, which was .745 back through May 28, is up to .820.
'It's the same thing. I'm just finding more gaps and more holes,' Soto said postgame. 'I'm making good swings and good decisions.'
'It was a perfect day for him,' said Pete Alonso, whose eighth-inning homer pushed him past David Wright and into second on the franchise's home run leaderboard.
Since a 9-12 stretch in early May, the Mets are 12-3 in their last 15 games. They've taken advantage of Colorado (6-0) and the Chicago White Sox (2-1) while also taking the season series from the Dodgers (4-3) in that span.
That run has coincided with brutal stretches for both the Phillies and Atlanta. New York's lead in the division is up to 4 1/2 games, and it's now 14 over fourth-place Atlanta.

Magic Dealt Unfortunate News on $197 Million NBA Trade Rumor
Magic Dealt Unfortunate News on $197 Million NBA Trade Rumor originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Orlando Magic is one of the teams that have been surrounded by trade rumors. Following the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Magic were eliminated in the first round by the Boston Celtics. Although the team lost, it showed that they have a bright future with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. Advertisement However, experts believe the Magic should make a move and upgrade the point guard position. Right now, Orlando has Jalen Suggs as the starting guard and he has shown he's more than capable of being a significant contributor. Suggs isn't the traditional guard that some league insiders believe the team needs. The Florida team has been linked to All-Star guards Trae Young and Darius Garland. Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony drives to the basket against Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Blaze-Imagn Images On Sunday, ESPN's Brian Windhorst gave an update regarding a potential trade that would make the Magic acquire the $197 million guard. The rumored trade would be a one-to-one trade, with both teams exchanging starting point guards. Advertisement According to Windhorst, Suggs not being an All-Star wouldn't make Cleveland agree to a trade. "That can't be the trade, Darius Garland is an All-Star. Jalen Suggs is not. So there would have to be other aspects of that trade before I would consider it," Windhorst said. However, the NBA insider said that Suggs could be a player that the Cavaliers should have interest in. Windhorst said that the Magic's starting point guard is similar to someone like Jrue Holiday or Alex Caruso. Given his elite two-way play, he can be an important piece to a contending team. He also pointed out that a potential deal between the Cavaliers and Magic wouldn't happen until after July 1. Suggs is set to start his five-year, $150 million contract extension with Orlando. Lakers to reportedly make changes to one of their jerseys next season
The Los Angeles Lakers have always had some of the most iconic uniforms in all of sports. Ever since the late 1960s, when they adopted their current wordmark logo and purple and gold colors, there have been only mild alterations to their jerseys and shorts every so often. In recent years, some have complained about the design of the Lakers' Statement Edition uniforms. They feature a purple background and black numbers with a gold drop shadow, as well as a black side stripe, which is a departure from tradition since black isn't a team color. Advertisement According to ProLine Mockups, the team's Statement Edition jerseys will look somewhat different next season. The photo that was leaked shows them with white numbers that have a gold shadow and the Lakers' wordmark logo in white. ProLine Mockups stressed that the photo shown is of a base design, which means that the final design may look a little different.
