I tried Lookfantastic's April Box which saves shoppers £40 on beauty staples

The monthly subscription box from Lookfantastic never fails to bring a smile to my face when it lands on my doorstep/ Valued at £55, April's beauty box is priced at £15 for a one-off purchase, or if you opt for a 12-month rolling subscription, it drops to just £13.
Packed with six items - and occasionally even seven if the brand throws in a complimentary gift, as they often do (surpassing Glossybox's five products per month for £13.50) - this box is ideal for those who enjoy experimenting with new products or simply want to shake up their beauty regime.
April's box is chock-full of mostly deluxe sized skincare treats that will leave your face, hands, body and scalp feeling ultra-hydrated. It even includes a product that makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts swear by for cleaning their brushes.
If you fancy a larger beauty haul, Lookfantastic's Travel Edit features a range of sun-ready products worth £105 for just £30 here, while M&S' Made for an Icon Beauty Box, valued at over £130, is currently on offer for £24, reports the Mirror. Elsewhere, Space NK's Everything Shower Edit is £70 and features brands like Alpha-H, Sol De Janeiro, Living Proof and Aromatherapy Associates.
Although if you're after a little spring-time pick me up, here are my honest thoughts on Lookfantastic's April Beauty Box.
First off, the items are delivered in a recyclable cardboard box adorned with the Lookfantastic The Box logo. The box is filled with tissue paper to safeguard the products and add an element of luxury.
Inside the box, you'll find five deluxe-sized products that are ideal for slipping into your carry-on bag when travelling, as well as a full-sized makeup brush from Spectrum Collections - a brand I've been eager to try.
The box's contents cover all bases with a L'OCCITANE Shea Butter Hand Cream, L'OCCITANE Shower Oil, Peter Thomas Roth Waterdrench Mask, The Nue Co Supa Thick Scalp Serum, ISOCLEAN Makeup Brush Cleaner with a Spray Top and the Spectrum A05 Blusher Brush inside. As a bonus, the brand also included a 1.2ml sample of the Mugler Alien Extraintense Fragrance.
Considering some of the products inside retail at £10 and above, the box, priced at £15, offers excellent value for money - particularly as the scalp serum alone costs the same as the entire box.
While the whole haul is lovely, three products, in particular, stand out to me, and they're possibly the most accessible and cheapest ones. Firstly, the £4 L'OCCITANE Shower Oil. It's a best-seller for good reason, and having sampled it before in a previous box, I've since stocked up on it.
It has a delightful sweet almond fragrance that lingers post shower and feels super luxurious. The product transforms in the shower from a silky golden oil to a milk-like lather, leaving my skin feeling velvety soft and smelling divine. Its compact 35ml size also makes it a perfect addition to my travel wash bag.
A second from the renowned skincare brand, the L'OCCITANE Shea Butter Hand Cream valued at £10, is my second favourite. Simply put, it works wonders on dry hands (a problem I frequently suffer, particularly on my knuckles) and comes with a delightful jasmine and ylang ylang scent.
It's quickly absorbed and doesn't leave your hands feeling overly greasy post-application. The Spectrum Blusher Brush, full size, may only be worth £8 on Lookfantastic, but it's one I've been eager to try for a while now. Given the brand's reputation and celebrity endorsements, I wasn't surprised by the brush's excellent quality on my somewhat sensitive skin.
The bristles were gentle and didn't feel too rigid when applying blusher. In fact, they felt incredibly soft and flexible - a feature my cheaper brushes certainly lack. Perhaps this is the push I needed to upgrade my current makeup brush collection?
Another standout item in the Lookfantastic April box is the ISOCLEAN Makeup Brush Cleaner with a Spray Top. We're all guilty of neglecting our makeup brushes for weeks without giving them a thorough clean, mainly because it can be a hassle to do so with just soap and water.
This makeup brush cleaner takes the effort out of keeping your brushes pristine and is a breeze to use. You just spritz onto a tissue—or directly on the brush—then gently swirl the bristles on a surface you don't mind dirtying, and watch as the makeup effortlessly dissolves from your brush.
I applied the spray to a tissue (to avoid drenching it without knowing how strong the formula was), and I found that it swiftly cleaned my blush/bronzer brush and at the same time revealed the surprising amount of residue lodged in its bristles.
There was, however, one drawback to the product—the scent isn't exactly pleasing. To put it bluntly, the chemical aroma was quite sharp and even caused some irritation to my eyes. Nevertheless, I'm not ready to give up on it; I plan to use it again, this time taking extra care during application.
The Mugler Alien Extraintense Fragrance is perfectly sized for travel and can easily be slipped into your handbag for an evening out. Due to lack of social plans since receiving the box, I've saved it instead of squandering it on nights spent at home—although for the purpose of this review I did have a quick whiff, which revealed a divine blend of sweet vanilla and floral jasmine notes.
As for the Peter Thomas Roth Waterdrench Mask and the Nue Co Supa Thick Scalp Serum —I haven't gotten round to trying them just yet; I'm saving them for a pampering evening. However, the excitement is real after hearing such rave reviews.
One beauty fan shared: "First box and the face mask was my favourite, it left my skin so hydrated. the brush and brush cleanser were also very good too. would probably buy a bigger version of the face mask."
Another customer praised the variety in this month's beauty selection, particularly enjoying the Spectrum brush and L'Occitane products: "I love this month's beauty edit, especially for the Spectrum brush and L'Occitane. I will use all products."
However, they also mentioned their request for a larger quantity of a certain item: "Wish scalp serum was more to know the results."
Although the smaller sizes proved welcome for one shopper who found the box to be an excellent source for travel-sized items and complimented its monthly offerings: "Fab little box to look forward to monthly. Usually at least one full size product in each box! Perfect for a gift or for stocking up on minis while travelling."

Rare sale sees best-selling Carolina Herrera perfume plummet to better-than-duty-free price

Duty-free is the place to shop when you're looking for your favourites at a discounted rate - but this rare sale is rivalling the airport's price for this best-selling Carolina Herrera Herrera perfume If you've been looking to add a cult-favourite perfume to your shopping basket without spending a fortune, you're in luck. You don't have to be travelling through an airport to score a major discount, either, thanks to this limited-time Lookfantastic sale. This sale has slashed Christina Herrera's best-selling Good Girl perfume to a better-than-duty-free price. But you'll want to hurry; there's no telling how long this rare offer will last. A brand synonymous with its chic and unmistakable high-heel bottle shape, there's one flagship fragrance from Carolina Herrera that remains a firm fan favourite among shoppers. Coming in a sleek blue stiletto bottle, the Carolina Herrera Good Girl perfume —the original and first in a line of six fragrances under the 'Good Girl' title—normally comes with a steep price tag, around £100, depending on which retailer you shop at and the measurement you opt for. You can snag 50ml of this iconic perfume from Boots for £98, or from Lookfantastic for £78.40, down from £98. Or you can find a 50ml bottle currently selling for £75 on Amazon. But it's currently reduced to £53.60, rivalling the likes of duty-free prices, where the Good Girl fragrance was selling for £55 (30ml). The Good Girl perfume is a seductive blend of light and dark notes, embodying the captivating complexity of women. This strong and feminine scent is perfect for the modern woman, boasting contrasting notes that leave the wearer feeling emboldened and confident. The perfume combines the sweet, breathtaking, and alluring qualities of jasmine, which bring bright femininity, with the mysterious side expressed through richly fragrant cocoa. Exciting notes of Tonka follow, while almond and coffee bring notes of bold vibrancy, creating an alluring yet sophisticated scent that celebrates your good and bad sides. Notably, this isn't just about the perfume - its bottle makes it a gorgeous addition to your perfume collection, adding a splash of colour and a unique design that's easy to spot on any vanity. This cult-classic fragrance currently boasts over 2k 5-star reviews on Lookfantastic, where shoppers can't stop singing its praises. One buyer beams: "I've repurchased this perfume so many times - it's one that people always compliment me on so highly recommend." Another happy shopper shares: "I brought this perfume mainly for its eye catching bottle, and nice sweet almond scent, perfect for day to day or evening wear. Long lasting on the skin, receive many compliments when I'm wearing this perfume." Though one shopper does note their gripe with the perfume, noting: "The worst thing about this for me is the bottle, it's a bit of an eyesore." That said, they still give the fragrance five stars, going on to say: "But the scent is so sexy and really lasts. I get so many compliments when I'm wearing this." This satisfied customer shares the same sentiments: "I have a very large perfume collection, and this is one of my favourites. It's beautiful, perfect for a date night, and also for day-to-day use. I always get asked what I'm wearing every time I wear this perfume. Every girl needs this perfume." And a fifth writes: "This perfume has a beautiful, well-balanced scent. It's perfect for both daytime and evening wear. The longevity is impressive, and the sillage is just right—not too strong, but noticeable. Overall, a great choice for anyone who loves elegant and sophisticated fragrances."

Shoppers call £30 Calvin Klein scent a 'vanilla lover's dream' that 'lasts all day'

'The scent is a lovely and subtle (not overpowering) balance of vanilla, and lasts a long time when I use it on my clothes and hair' Vanilla has long been one of the most timeless fragrance notes, loved for its warmth and sensuality that feels just as right for everyday wear as it does for a night out. One popular perfume is Calvin Klein's Nude Vanilla Body Mist, which shoppers are calling a 'dream for vanilla fans.' This fragrance, available for £30 via LookFantastic, Boots and Calvin Klein directly, is described as a 'sensual' mix of rich vanilla, musk accord and amber woods, giving it a warming vibe. The lightweight mist can also be spritzed onto hair, leaving locks smelling fresh and sexy throughout the day. Ideal for slipping into a handbag, it's perfect for top-ups on the go or for layering with other fragrances. Vanilla, in particular, pairs beautifully with spicy notes like cinnamon and floral accords such as jasmine and white musk - which you'll find as a base in bestselling perfumes like YSL Black Opium (£78, Boots) and Gucci's Flora Gorgeous Jasmine (£59.99, The Perfume Shop). 47 Skin's 'life-changing' skincare products for spot-prone teens are now 10% off Lisa Snowdon loves this hair serum that's 'must have for hair loss' now 20% off There are plenty more vanilla options to consider. One of my current favourites is Phlur's Vanilla Nectar (£25, Space NK), which opens with juicy papaya nectar and is grounded by smooth, creamy vanilla to soften the tropical notes and add warmth and maturity. Otherwise, Dior's Vanilla Diorama (£168) is expensive, but described as 'an exquisitely creamy vanilla mousseline, pricked with orange zests over a backdrop of bitter cocoa.' I also like Bon Parfumeur's 402, a sweet blend of vanilla, toffee, caramel, and sandalwood. Back to Calvin Klein's Nude Vanilla Body Mist, it has received plenty of great reviews via LookFantastic. One shopper said: "This is a vanilla lover's dream. I sprayed this on my hair and pulse points, and it lasted all day. The scent of vanilla and musk, which can be layered with other mists, is great. I even got compliments from strangers. "The spritzer is amazing, giving a mist, not too wide but just enough. The gorgeous packaging, lovely pink bottle complements the scent." Meanwhile, a second person remarked: "The scent is a lovely and subtle (not overpowering) balance of vanilla, and lasts a long time when I use it on my clothes and hair. Would defo recommend." It isn't all good news, though. A mixed review reads: "I'm not sure how to explain it otherwise, but as soon as I opened the lid, it smelt like I walked into a Victoria's Secret store, which isn't bad. It does have that smell of a cheaper fragrance (quite overpowering, a bit one-dimensional). "The bottle is large and a nice colour. I wouldn't reach for it daily, but maybe if I were in a rush and didn't want to waste a more expensive scent to go to the shops, I'd use it." But on a more positive note, this Calvin Klein fan said: "I enjoyed this product. It has a vanilla and musk scent. When it settles down, you can smell the musk. It lasts a while, but I like to pair it with a vanilla body cream to help make it last longer."
