Betting predictions, odds, and picks for North Carolina at Pitt in a quad-one battle

USA Today28-01-2025
North Carolina will head into their toughest conference stretch of the season. After a terrible non-conference stretch that was harder than this, they came out with a 1-7 record against quad-one opponents.
They head into this game with a 13-8 overall record and a 6-3 record against ACC teams. They won their sixth conference game in their last outing over the weekend, beating Boston College in overtime. They are tied with Stanford and SMU in the ACC.
On the other side, the Panthers are 13-6 overall this season and are 4-4 against teams in the conference. They snapped a four-game conference losing streak against Syracuse on the road over the weekend, giving this team a boost of momentum heading back home for this game.
Here are the odds heading into game-day for the UNC-Pitt matchup. North Carolina at Pitt game odds:
All NCAA Odds via FanDuel: Point spread: North Carolina, +3.5
Money line: North Carolina +146, Pittsburgh -176
Over-under: 154.5 total points North Carolina at Pitt injury updates: North Carolina, no injuries to report
Pittsburgh, no injuries to report North Carolina at Pitt prediction, pick:
This will be the second-easiest, quad-one game that the Tar Heels will play in their next four games. The only easier game in that stretch is when they take on Pitt at the Dean Dome instead of being on the road.
That being said, this is a must-win for the Tar Heels. The lack of quad-one wins is glaring and with their eighth quad-one loss against Wake Forest last week, getting on the right side of that record will be imperative.
The other thing North Carolina needs with a win on Tuesday is momentum going into a massive road rivalry against No. 2 Duke on Saturday.
I think North Carolina covers the spread in this game with a win and the over hits, but lately, UNC has been scoring a ton but also giving up a ton of points.
Prediction: North Carolina 85 – 82 Pittsburgh North Carolina at Pitt channel, start time, streaming:
The North Carolina at Pittsburgh game starts at 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 28th, and can be seen on ESPN.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers gets into heated exchange with rookie Kaleb Johnson

Tensions were fiery on the final day of Steelers training camp — and the outspoken 20-year veteran QB Aaron Rodgers finally showed off some of the tough love he's been known to possess throughout his career. On Tuesday, sideline reporters spotted Rodgers having some choice words for rookie RB Kaleb Johnson — who ran the wrong route in practice, leaving the Steelers quarterback upset. "It wasn't some hushed sideline chat," one practice attendee remarked, via "You could see Rodgers' body language from across the field." Rodgers is no stranger to voicing his frustrations and holding his teammates accountable — such as the "red line incident" with WR Mike Williams on the Jets, perhaps his most infamous example. Previously, former NFL defensive end Chris Long hinted that these outbursts and frustrations from Rodgers, directed at his teammates, could result in drama between the four-time MVP and his star wide receiver DK Metcalf. While alarming at first glance, Rodgers' veteran leadership will do far more good than harm for these young players — which is especially true for Johnson, who's come under criticism recently. Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith injured at training camp, HC Mike Tomlin gives update

Another injury has struck the Pittsburgh Steelers at training camp. Following Sunday's practice at training camp, HC Mike Tomlin revealed to reporters that OLB Alex Highsmith had suffered a groin injury. "The only new injury to mention, Alex Highsmith didn't finish," Tomlin said. "Don't know the severity of it. Over here on the one-on-one pass rush, he stopped. He said he felt, maybe his groin, but we'll evaluate it and be more definitive next time we talk — not only about the injury but the significance of it." Highsmith has previously dealt with several groin injuries in his career, missing one game in 2021 and three games in 2024. Hopefully, his groin injury isn't as serious this go-around, but the Steelers do boast incredible depth behind him — underrated pass rusher OLB Nick Herbig and talented rookie OLB Jack Sawyer. We at Steelers Wire will provide an update on Highsmith when more information on the extent of his injury becomes available — but fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for one part of the best edge-rushing duo in the NFL.
