21 Not-Talked-About Movies That Basically Scarred An Entire Generation

Buzz Feed01-04-2025

Recently, we wrote about the films that have absolutely scarred an entire generation. And, in response, we got SO MANY MORE good suggestions from our BuzzFeed Community. Here are the less-talked-about movies that emotionally traumatized people when they were younger:
1. The Little Engine That Could (1991): "That. Mountain. Scene."
2. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964): "I didn't realize how traumatic those Christmas claymation movies were until I showed them to my then 3-year-old, who literally ran from the room screaming. The abominable snowmen and the island of misfit toys are nightmare fuel."
3. My Dog Skip (2000): "I love dogs so much, and I was told by everyone I knew that I needed to watch that movie. NO ONE TOLD ME WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. It's scarred me to this day."
4. Horton Hears a Who (1970): "The Wickersham Brothers gave me nightmares, big time."
5. Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998): "That movie traumatized so many kids who either saw it when it came out or on TV later."
6. Lord of the Flies (1990): "I stumbled across that movie when I was really young, before I had any idea it was a classic, and it scared the bejeebers out of me."
7. The Sound of Music (1965): "The Nazis in The Sound of Music...I had to sleep with all the lights on."
8. Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey (1977): "I cry every time."
9. Benji (1974): "How has no one mentioned this yet? It's terrifying at times."
10. Charlotte's Web (1973): "My 4-year-old and I both cried at the end of Charlotte's Web. I asked her what was wrong, and she said, 'She didn't get to see her babies.' I'm crying now."
11. Clue (1985): "It was probably irrational of me, but the movie gave me nightmares for a week. I was maybe 7 or 8 when I watched it; I would cry whenever I went to the bathroom because I was afraid someone would come out of a secret passage/hidden panel and stab me. I didn't feel safe in my own home!"
12. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937): "I was 5 and the mirror scared me so much."
13. Gorillas in the Mist (1988): "I saw it as a child, and I still can't watch any movie about animals 40 years later."
14. Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983): "It scared me to death. It made me scared of carnivals for a while. I'm 53 and will not watch it to this day."
15. Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure (1977): "My parents recorded it off the TV, and I damn near wore the VHS tape out watching it even though it scared the absolute shit out of me."
16. Superman III (1983): "The scene where the woman gets turned into a borg scared the crap out of me as a kid."
17. Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959): "When the banchees came to the front door towards the end, I had nightmares for years."
18. Once Upon A Forest (1993): "😭😭😭."
19. The Transformers: The Movie (1986): "I was a NASA and Transformers kid. In 1986, the Challenger exploded, and they killed Optimus Prime — that year warped me for life!
Paramount Pictures / Ronald Grant Archive / Mary Evans

20. A Troll in Central Park (1994): "It was the most terrifying movie to me as a kid, and I still can't watch it."
21. Mary Poppins (1964): "Don't laugh, but, specifically the scene where they were all up by the ceiling. As a wee tot, my cousins would torture me by playing 'I Love to Laugh,' knowing it would send me into hysterics. Even now, I still get the ghost of a shiver listening to that song."

Beckham Drama? Inside Rumors That Brooklyn and Nicola Are Feuding With the Family

Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, are reportedly feuding with the rest of the Beckham family. Tensions have risen so high that Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from family patriarch David Beckham's 50th birthday celebrations. Life & Style breaks down all the clues that have fueled the Beckham family drama rumors. Romeo Beckham began dating girlfriend Kim Turnbull in late 2024, despite her being Brooklyn's reported ex-girlfriend. The relationship caused a rift within the family after Brooklyn reportedly had an issue with Romeo dating Kim. On April 3, 2025, a source told TMZ that although Brooklyn didn't have lingering romantic feelings toward Kim, he didn't trust that her intentions with Romeo were pure. 'There's no ill will toward Romeo himself, Brooklyn just doesn't approve of Kim dating him,' according to the outlet. David's wife, Victoria Beckham, and kids Romeo, Cruz Beckham and Harper Beckham celebrated his 50th birthday early in March 2025. Romeo shared a group photo via Instagram of the evening on March 31, 2025, featuring Kim and Cruz's girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, in the snapshot. Romeo added fuel to the feud fire when he re-shared the photo on his Instagram Stories along with the message, 'Family is everything. Love you all.' The following month, Romeo and Cruz ignited rumors that there was a family feud when they seemingly mocked Nicola's Instagram comment to Romeo's ex-girlfriend, Mia Regan. 'So beautiful Mia,' the Transformers actress wrote under Mia's April 5, 2025, Instagram photo alongside a pink heart and sparkle emoji. Two days later, Romeo shared solo and couple photos with Kim, leading Cruz to comment, 'So beautiful Romeo,' with the same emojis that Nicola used on Mia's post. Reps for Cruz and Romeo did not immediately respond to Life & Style's request for comment. On May 3, 2025, David was showered with love at his official birthday party in London with his family, minus Brooklyn and Nicola, and fellow A-list friends. Romeo shared more photos of David's ongoing lavish birthday celebrations the following day, including family moments without Brooklyn. As fan theories about the family feud spewed online, a source told People that there were 'tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family," but the bad blood was 'definitely not beyond repair.' 'They love and are always there for him. They're just hurt and disappointed that he's now playing no part in family life,' the insider told the outlet. Meanwhile, a separate source told Us Weekly that Brooklyn and Nicola ask for 'special treatment,' and Victoria and David are 'over it.' So much, that the professional athlete and former Spice Girl reportedly declined their eldest son and daughter-in-law's invitation to celebrate David's birthday with him – privately. 'David and Victoria just want to treat everyone the same and approach life like a family and the family does things a certain way,' the source explained. 'But Brooklyn isn't playing it like that, and everything is a drama.' The source added, 'They just tell the whole family there's a party, 'Here's the time, here's the date.' It's not that complicated. Everyone else seems OK with it.' Chatter that Nicola didn't mesh well with Brooklyn's family started in 2022, after they got married earlier that year. That August, Nicola addressed the rumors with Variety and shared that the gossip stemmed from her decision not to wear a Victoria Beckham-designed wedding dress, and instead wore a gown by Valentino. 'I was going to, and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn't say you can't wear it; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it,' Nicola told the publication. 'That's where it started, and then they ran with that.'

Taylor Swift And Blake Lively Friendship Update In June

There's a new update on Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship amidst Blake's ongoing legal woes with Justin Baldoni. In December, Blake sued Justin, her co-star and director on It Ends with Us, claiming he sexually harassed her on set. In addition to denying the claims, Justin launched a countersuit against Blake, alleging defamation, civil extortion, and false light invasion of privacy. Taylor was roped into the drama in May when Justin's legal team subpoenaed her, arguing that Blake had used "her megacelebrity friend to pressure [Justin]" into making changes on the film. A rep for Taylor immediately denied their claims. "Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie," her spokesperson said. "She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history." According to the rep, Taylor had only agreed to license her song "My Tears Ricochet" for use in the trailer and one scene. "Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." Still, the drama continued when Justin's lawyers wrote a letter to a judge claiming that Blake had allegedly asked Taylor to delete their text messages and "that if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively's possession would be released." Blake's lawyer called the claims "categorically false," and the next day, a judge struck the "improper" letter from the record. However, a source claimed that Blake and Taylor's friendship was still left "fractured" in the wake of it. "Their friendship has halted," a source purportedly close to Taylor told People last month. "Taylor wants no part in this drama," the source added, before clarifying it didn't mean they were "not no longer friends" — they were just "taking some space." Neither Taylor nor Blake addressed the report at the time, but now, almost a month on, a source has offered an update, telling People their friendship still "isn't the same." "[They] aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past," the source said. However, they claimed Taylor and Blake are trying to get back "on good terms." I guess we'll see what happens. In the meantime, BuzzFeed has reached out to reps for Taylor, Blake, and Justin for comment on the latest report.

Blake Lively Gets Org Support Amid Justin Baldoni Trial

A spokesperson for Blake Lively issued a statement as the number of organizations submitting amicus briefs in support of her amid her legal battle with Justin Baldoni hit 19. In December, Blake sued her It Ends With Us co-star and director, as well as the studio Wayfarer and other parties, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation. Justin subsequently sued Blake, alleging defamation and extortion, among other things. Both parties have denied the allegations of the other. Before we get into the update, you might be wondering what an amicus brief is. It stems from the Latin phrase "friend of the court," which allows people who aren't parties in the case to submit documents of support, arguing that the impact of the case will also affect them. So, why are all these orgs issuing amicus briefs? Let's take one that's been signed by 14 women's and anti-violence organizations. In it, they argue, "The retaliatory defamation lawsuit instigated by the Wayfarer parties against Blake Livelyis another example of 'DARVO' tactics (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender) in the post-#MeToo era where perpetrators of 'sexual violence,' in particular sexual harassment, attempt to silence their victims into submission." After a new brief was filed this week by Child USA, a nonprofit against child abuse, a spokesperson for Blake issued a statement to BuzzFeed that read, "19 leading survivors and organizations devoted to women's rights, children's rights and domestic violence have now signed onto four separate amicus briefs. All are united in opposing Justin Baldoni's attempt to dismantle a law designed to protect women who speak up—simply to protect himself." Justin's attorney has been reached for comment. "The latest briefs, filed by Child USA and Sanctuary for Families, add the voices of renowned nonprofits, victim advocates, and experts from around the world who are dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of people who speak up," they continued. Justin has never been accused of child abuse. "Rather than defend his case on the facts, Baldoni is now contradicting years of his own public persona—abandoning the message of his #MeToo YouTube's, podcasts, TED Talks, and interviews, where he once upon a time urged men 'to listen to the women in your life…to hold their anguish and actually believe them, even if what they're saying is against you.' These women and organizations are sounding the alarm about his DARVO tactics, and the chilling effect they could have well beyond this case," the statement concluded. BuzzFeed has reached out to a representative for Justin for comment.
