ABU DHABI (WAM) ADNOC Gas Plc and its subsidiaries (together referred to as 'ADNOC Gas' or the 'Company') (ADX symbol: ADNOCGAS / ISIN: AEE01195A234) announced today that it has entered into a three-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Germany's SEFE Securing Energy for Europe, for the delivery of 0.7 million tonnes of LNG with deliveries commencing this year. The agreement, valued at approximately $400 million (AED1.5 billion) over its three-year term, highlights ADNOC Gas' continued expansion into global markets, with LNG supplied from ADNOC Gas' Das Island liquefaction facility – a key asset in the company's portfolio. With a production capacity of 6 mtpa, Das Island's LNG plant has shipped over 3,500 LNG cargoes worldwide since starting operations in 1977, strengthening ADNOC Gas' long-term relationships with key global energy partners.Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, said, 'This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening our long-standing partnership with SEFE and reinforces ADNOC Gas' role as a reliable and responsible global energy provider, committed to supporting Germany's energy security. It also reflects the strong progress we are making in delivering our strategic objectives and demonstrates the confidence our partners, investors, and stakeholders place in our ability to create long-term value in a dynamic energy landscape.'The agreement builds on the ongoing strategic collaboration between the UAE and Germany, including the 2022 Energy Security and Industry Accelerator (ESIA) pact and the 2024 Joint Declaration with the state of Baden-Württemberg, both aimed at fostering energy security and sustainable fuel development.Frédéric Barnaud, Chief Commercial Officer of SEFE, said, 'Over the past two decades, we've built a strong partnership with ADNOC, and we value our relationship with such a reputable and reliable supplier. This new medium-term LNG contract builds on the long-term supply agreement with ADNOC that we signed last year, thereby adding another flexible source of LNG to our portfolio – to the benefit of both Europe's security of supply and our global market trading activities.'ADNOC Gas is a key player in ADNOC's strategy to enhance its natural gas production capacity and expand global LNG exports. As a crucial transitional fuel, natural gas offers lower carbon emissions compared to other fossil fuels and serves as an important raw material in industrial value chains.
SEFE is committed to ensuring energy security across Germany and Europe by expanding its international portfolio and strengthening its global partnerships. As part of this commitment, SEFE collaborates with leading LNG and natural gas producers around the world to ensure diversified and reliable energy sources for Germany and beyond.

Mideast Stocks: Gulf stocks gain on earnings optimism, ahead of US Fed outlook

Major Gulf equities rebounded in volatile trade on Wednesday as investors shrugged off underwhelming earnings and rotated into selective buying ahead of key corporate results and the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy decision, due later in the day. While the Fed is widely expected to hold interest rates steady, the possibility of dovish dissent has provided a measure of optimism. The Fed's stance holds significant implications for Gulf economies, where most currencies are pegged to the U.S. dollar, making it a key anchor for regional monetary stability. Saudi Arabia's benchmark index <.TASI> picked up 0.8% driven by broad sector gains and investor enthusiasm ahead of major earnings announcements from SABIC < and Aramco < due next week. Halwani Brothers < showed sharp intraday volatility, dropping nearly 5% after reporting a significant quarterly profit decline, before rebounding to close up by over 4%, reflecting a mix of sell-offs, bargain hunting and short-covering. Dubai's benchmark index <.DFMGI> rose 0.5% to hit over a 17-1/2-year high, logging its sixth straight session of gains, as hopes remain high ahead of key earnings, mainly from the real estate sector. Gains were driven by a 1.5% jump in toll operator Salik maintaining the same stretch of wins. The Abu Dhabi index <.FTFADGI> gained 0.1%, lifted by selective buying amid a mixed but largely encouraging earnings season. ADNOC Drilling advanced 1%, boosted by solid growth and a confident full-year outlook. Shares of Emirates Telecommunications Group(e&) added nearly 1.5%, as the telecom giant is slated to report its quarterly earnings on Thursday. Qatar's stock index <.QSI> bounced back 0.1%, recovering from two sessions of profit-taking, as optimism builds ahead of heavyweight earnings announcements. Beyond earnings, market sentiment remains focused on global trade developments ahead of the August 1 U.S. tariff deadline. Following two days of negotiations, the U.S. and China agreed to seek an extension of their 90-day tariff truce, set to expire on August 12. Meanwhile, South Korea was also lobbying to secure a trade deal as its officials met U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in Washington. While concerns linger over the impact of tariff policies on global growth and energy demand, the latest developments have helped bolster confidence in the resilience of oil-dependent Gulf economies. Outside the Gulf, Egypt's blue-chip index <.EGX30>, eased 0.7%, as investors locked in profits following a recent record peak. Talaat Moustafa Group fell 1.1%. European Commission to investigate ADNOC's acquisition of Covestro

The proposed US$15 billion acquisition of German chemical company Covestro by XRG, the international investment arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) – the biggest acquisition ever by a Gulf company in Europe – will be delayed as the deal is now being investigated by the European Commission. The EC has opened an in-depth investigation to assess, under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), the acquisition by ADNOC/XRG. The Commission said they were concerned that foreign subsidies granted by the UAE to the state-owned ADNOC 'could distort the EU internal market'. Covestro shareholders had given their go-ahead to XRG 's proposed deal in December 2024. EU probes ADNOC's Covestro takeover The Commission said that 'opening of an in-depth investigation does not prejudge the outcome of the investigation'. If the European Commission probe, which has a deadline of December 2 to issue a ruling, concludes that rules have been violated, the takeover could eventually be blocked unless ADNOC makes significant concessions. The Commission's preliminary investigation indicates that ADNOC and Covestro may receive foreign subsidies. The possible foreign subsidies include an unlimited guarantee from the UAE, as well as a committed capital increase by ADNOC into Covestro. The preliminary investigation felt that the foreign subsidies may have enabled ADNOC to acquire Covestro at a valuation and financial terms that would not be in line with market conditions, and which could not have been matched by unsubsidised investors. During its in-depth investigation, the Commission said it would assess… Whether the foreign subsidies that ADNOC may have received distorted the outcome of the acquisition process. ADNOC may have offered an unusually high price and other favourable conditions, which may have deterred other investors from making an offer. Whether such potential foreign subsidies may lead to negative effects in the internal market with respect to the merged entity's activities after the transaction.
