Dave Allen gets Johnny Fisher revenge with round five KO win over rival

The Doncaster De La Hoya avenged his defeat in the first fight as he landed an overhand right in the fifth round before a hook on the bell saw the towel come in
Dave Allen has avenged his defeat by rival Johnny Fisher with an emphatic knockout victory in their rematch. The Doncaster De La Hoya stopped his opponent in round five at the Copper Box.
Allen landed an overhand right that put Fisher in trouble, and as he attempted to cover up, he eventually hit the canvas. Fisher barely beat the count, and Allen landed a vicious hook on the bell to leave Fisher prone in the middle of the ring.

The referee waved the bout off as the towel came flying in from Fisher's corner. Paramedics attended to Fisher in the ring and gave him oxygen as Allen held off from celebrating, but he did regain his feet and congratulate his opponent.

After having his hand raised in victory and being awarded the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight belt, Allen couldn't hide his delight. 'I knew the first fight did me a world of good," he said.
'I put a bit of weight on, I knew it would pay dividends, took the risk. I'm the fattest, hardest man you'll ever see.
'You know what it means? The belt, everything. I'm gonna have an en suite, that's the dream. My kids will have their own bathroom between them.
'At this level, I'm a handful. He over exaggerated the movement, which worked against him. I've got experience, I know the game inside out. I'm him, but with 30 more fights basically."
When asked about the potential of a trilogy, Allen expressed his belief that it wouldn't be good for Fisher. 'He's my friend," he added. "He's a very good friend of mine. I wouldn't allow it [a trilogy fight] to happen, because it's not in his best interests.'

Three players ejected from Sky vs Sun game after heated scuffle

As referees attempted to separate the players involved in the skirmish, Sky guard Ariel Atkins jumped to her teammate's defense and pushed Hartley, appearing to make contact with an official in the process. As a result, Hartley, Allen and Atkins were all ejected. Hartley was 0-of-3 from the field and 0-of-1 from the 3-point line in 10 minutes of work before hitting the showers early. Atkins ended the night with five points in 9 minutes for the Sky, while Allen was scoreless in 6 minutes (0-of-1 FG). Status alert: Bria Hartley, Rebecca Allen, Ariel Atkins have been ejected — Underdog WNBA (@UnderdogWNBA) August 13, 2025 It wasn't the first incident of the night between Allen and Hartley. Earlier in the game, Allen was elbowed in the face by Hartley and a foul was not called. Sky head coach Tyler Marsh said the unchecked contact escalated to the ejections. "It was unfortunate. I think things like that have a tendency to happen when there's not a control put on the game prior to. There's usually an incident that goes overlooked that leads to something like that," he said in his postgame remarks. "(Allen) clearly got elbowed in the face right in front of the ref and it wasn't called. Then other things ensued. It's unfortunate for us. Two players that play high-quality, high-valuable minutes for us." Following the matchup, Sky forward Angel Reese posted, "ARIEL A REAL ONE. BEEN." Reese was ruled out of Wednesday's matchup due to a back injury. The USA TODAY app gets you to the heart of the news -- fast. Minnesota Twins' billionaire owners make shock decision on future of the franchise

After a fire sale of a trade deadline that saw the team give up almost all of its top players, seen by many as a clear indication that a sale was inevitable, the Pohlad family has decided to keep their majority stake in the Minnesota Twins. Last October, it was reported that the family had hired the investment bank Allen & Company to explore a possible sale after four decades of ownership. But now, in a stunning move, the family has reversed course - choosing instead to take on two minority partners. 'For more than four decades, our family has had the privilege of owning the Minnesota Twins. This franchise has become part of our family story, as it has for our employees, our players, this community, and Twins fans everywhere,' a statement from the family read. 'Over the past several months, we explored a wide range of potential investment and ownership opportunities. Our focus throughout has been on what's best for the long-term future of the Twins. We have been fully open to all possibilities. 'After a detailed and robust process, our family will remain the principal owner of the Minnesota Twins. 'To strengthen the club in a rapidly evolving sports landscape - one that demands strong partnerships, fresh ideas, and long-term vision - we are in the process of adding two significant limited partnership groups, each of whom will bring a wealth of experience and share our family values. 'We see and hear the passion from our partners, the community, and Twins fans. That passion inspires us. This ownership group is committed to building a winning team and culture for this region, one that Twins fans are proud to cheer for.' The Twins have not won a playoff series since 2002 and have not won a World Series since 1991.

'Light years away from ready' - fans concerned as start approaches

We asked for your views on whether Wolves are ready for the new season as they prepare to start at home to Manchester City on are some of your comments:David: Wolves have been lacklustre, disorganised and creativity-free in all of their hardly challenging friendlies. There is little sign of a team capable of finishing outside the bottom third of the Premier Unless the sold players are replaced with established, proven ones, I fear the worst. If the pre-season games are any reflection of current squad quality, they will be in a survival battle and yet another decent manager will go because of the lack of support. He will be in No! Very poor pre-season - they are not adaptable enough, they can't change from a rigid, five-at-the-back system to counter the opposition and so get overrun in midfield. Yes, fans want more incomings but we need desperately to be able to change our playing style within a match to outplay the opposition. Clearly the loss of Semedo, Ait-Nouri and Cunha place Wolves in an unenviable place this Light years away from "ready". Embarrassing transfer policy under which we sell some of our best players each year then look around desperately for (inadequate) replacements at the last minute, as if the sales were wholly unexpected. Two points from first 10 games if we're lucky, and manager will have walked out by Christmas. What a complete, recurring fiasco. Get your money on We look OK - if the season was still five weeks away. We just seem to be lacking in all areas of the pitch. We played like it was an end-of-season testimonial. Let's hope there's three terrible teams in the league this season, as that is the only way I can see us not being in the bottom three. Time for Jeff to put his hands in his very deep pockets.
