New awards make a positive impact as finalists announced
Scotland's first Impact Awards are set to shine a spotlight on firms and organisations leading the way in everything ESG, from climate action to community and wellbeing. When The Herald and GenAnalytics launched the Scottish Impact Awards 2025 earlier this summer, the aim was to discover the best examples of Environmental, Social and Governance practice. This was about finding those organisations where success was measured not just on the bottom line, but on being a force for good within the communities or sectors in which they operated. Well the judges were not disappointed because the outstanding entries that were received during this, the inaugural year of the awards, revealed a wealth of detailed information showcasing the best of ESG practices across Scotland in business of all sizes, from micro through small and medium to large organisations. Here were outstanding examples of commercial companies, service providers, charities and social organisations taking stock of their operations and putting in place thoughtful and effective measures to reduce their environmental impact and ensure that they were acting as a force for good. Selecting finalists from amongst the entrants proved to be a challenging task for the judges, but now a shortlist has been selected that reflects the breadth of work taking place across the country thanks to inspired and responsible leadership. Amongst those in the running are Mercat Tours, Scottish Water, The Social Hub and The Edinburgh Remakery along with Network Rail, Highland Coast Hotel and a rollcall of other organisations that are having a positive impact through ethical employment practices and community collaborations. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 16 September in the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow, hosted by award-winning broadcaster and writer Zara Janjua, and accolades will be given out across five categories that span the breadth of climate, diversity, workforce wellbeing, sustainability, and community impact. One of the most compelling awards is Climate Action Champion, sponsored by the Scottish National Investment Bank, and the finalists in this category are solar energy equipment supplier, JCE Energy, a division of JCE Group; artificial surf lake destination, Lost Shore Surf Resort and WEE Scotland, who recycle and repair commercial electronics that would otherwise be destined for landfill. Sandy MacDonald, Executive Director - Impact Assessment & Reporting ay Scottish National Investment Bank and Judging Panel member said: 'Congratulations to all the finalists in the Climate Action Champion category. Your dedication to tackling the climate crisis through meaningful, measurable action is both inspiring and essential. Whether it's reducing carbon emissions, embracing renewable energy, embedding sustainability into procurement, or promoting ethical sourcing, your efforts are setting a powerful example for others to follow. The Scottish National Investment Bank is proud to celebrate your commitment to building a greener, more resilient Scotland.' The other categories are: Diversity & Inclusion Leadership, sponsored by Diageo; Community Impact; Wellbeing & Workforce; and Sustainable Innovation, sponsored by Aegon, amongst whom the finalists include EGG Lighting and Utopi, a PropTech company specialising in ESG technology. Arlene Stokes, Chief People Officer, Aegon UK said, 'Aegon is proud to support the Scottish Impact Awards and sponsor the Sustainable Innovation Award. Congratulations to all the finalists, who are addressing sustainability with creativity and leading the way in how to make a lasting impact for Scotland! We're also delighted to be a finalist in the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership award category. As a socially responsible business, Aegon is committed to acting as a force for good, shaping optimistic futures for our customers, people and communities. Good luck to all the finalists! We're looking forward to celebrating the best achievements of everyone at the forefront of responsible business practices, who are making a lasting difference for workplaces, the environment, and Scottish society.' Now those who are truly delivering on their promises will be recognised during an evening of celebrations. Tickets to the event are available now by visiting

Socure Wins Datos Insights' 2025 Impact Awards in Two Fraud Solution Categories, Best Digital Identity Verification Solution and Best First-Party Fraud Solution
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Socure, the leading provider of artificial intelligence for digital identity verification, compliance, sanctions screening, and fraud prevention in over 190 countries, today announced it has been named the winner of Datos Insights' 2025 Impact Awards in the Best Digital Identity Verification Solution and Best First-Party Fraud Solution categories for its overall work in the digital identity verification (IDV) space as well as its Sigma First-Party Fraud solution. The prestigious recognitions highlight Socure's groundbreaking suite of products that address the financial services industry's most pressing identity verification priorities. Last year, the company launched its industry-first First-Party Fraud Consortium. This cross-industry initiative unites financial institutions, fintechs, payment platforms, sports betting companies, and BNPL providers, including five of the top 10 financial institutions in the U.S. 'We are honored to receive these recognitions from Datos Insights for our innovative approach to streamlining the user-identification process and combating first-party fraud,' said Johnny Ayers, CEO and founder of Socure. 'This award validates our commitment to helping customers stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.' The Datos Insights Impact Awards in Fraud & AML recognize companies that are 'leading the industry and pioneering new and disruptive financial crime products and capabilities.' The awards program evaluates solutions that are 'bringing the financial services industry one step closer to triumphing in the fight against fraud, money laundering, and other illicit activity.' 'Socure's dual recognition in our Impact Awards reflects their ability to tackle distinct but related challenges in fraud prevention,' said Jim Mortensen, Strategic Advisor at Datos Insights. 'Their suite of identity fraud solutions address the authentication and verification needs at onboarding, while their First-Party Fraud solution tackles the harder problem of detecting when legitimate customers intend to act in bad faith. Both solutions demonstrate the power of cross-industry data collaboration.' Submissions for Best Digital Identity Verification Solution were scored based on a platform's level of innovation, its competitive advantage assessment, market needs assessment, ability to assess financial risk mitigation across identification, prevention, and detection; a future roadmap; and other tangible impacts such as customer experience, operational efficiency, integration ease, and scalability. As winner of Best First-Party Fraud Solution, Socure's Sigma First-Party Fraud tool leverages advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze millions of accounts and billions of transactions, providing organizations with manipulation risk scores that enable instant risk assessment at customer onboarding. The solution offers real-time alerts and continuous monitoring capabilities, allowing organizations to act quickly to prevent fraud across the entire customer lifecycle and actively combat the $100 billion annual crisis in the U.S. alone. 'First-party fraud has evolved into an ever-present threat that traditional fraud prevention methods simply cannot address,' said Ori Snir, Head of Product Management, Fraud & Identity Solutions at Socure. 'By bringing together the industry's leading financial institutions and platforms, we've created an unparalleled network effect that enables us to identify and stop fraudulent behavior before it can take root across multiple platforms. We're thrilled that Socure's hard work has been recognized by Datos Insights in this way.'
