Ho Chi Minh glows ahead of Holy Buddha relic exposition as global delegates arrive

Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), May 4 (ANI): With just two days remaining until the official commencement of the Holy Buddha relic exposition, the city is already witnessing a surge in spiritual fervor and international attention.
On Day 2 of the grand event, the venue reported an impressive cumulative footfall of 3.5 lakh devotees, reflecting the deep reverence and anticipation surrounding the sacred occasion.
'Ho Chi Minh City shines on Day -2 of the Holy Buddha Relic Exposition with a cumulative footfall 3.5 lakhs. Delegates of UNDV across the globe arriving today add ethnic glamour to the devotee participation,' International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) shares the footfall on its X.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, international delegates arriving for the United Nations Day of Vesak (UNDV), 2025 celebrations are infusing the city with rich cultural diversity. Their presence is lending an added layer of ethnic glamour to the spiritual gathering, as devotees from around the world converge in shared reverence for the holy relics of the Buddha.
The city is brimming with devotional energy, with colorful cultural showcases, spiritual discourses, and preparations in full swing, promising a truly historic exposition in the days to come.
The sacred relics of the Buddha are being ceremoniously enshrined, venerated, and worshiped here at Thanh Tam Monastery in Ho Chi Minh City. The relics, that reached here from National Museum in Delhi on May 2, will be kept here till May 8, 2025 (coinciding with the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025).
Following the initial display, the Buddha relics will be transported to Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh Province, a revered spiritual pilgrimage site in southern Vietnam, where they will be exhibited from May 9 to 13.
The relics will then be moved to Quan Su Monastery in Hanoi, the central headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, for public viewing from May 14 to 18. The final stop will be Tam Chuc Monastery in Ha Nam Province--recognized as Southeast Asia's largest Buddhist center and the host of the 2019 United Nations Day of Vesak--where the relics will be on display from May 18 to 21.
A large gathering of monks, bhikkhunis, diplomats and the Sangha had offered chanting and special prayers to the Holy Buddha relic at a protected enclosure of the National Museum, New Delhi when it was brought there on May 1 from Sarnath, a famous place in India known for the first teachings of Buddhism by Gautam Buddha, en route to Vietnam.
The Ambassador of Vietnam to India, Nguyen Thanh Hai, as also the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Priyanga Wickramasinghe had joined the prayers.
The Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with the IBC is holding for the first time an exposition of the sacred Buddha relic in four cities of Vietnam to coincide with the celebrations for the UN Vesak Day.
This holy relic of the Buddha is enshrined in Mulagandha Kuti Vihara, Sarnath and was excavated in Nagarjuna Konda, Andhra Pradesh (India). It is believed to be dated older than 246 CE.
On May 1, when the sacred relic left Delhi, as a special gesture, around 120 monks from Vietnam reached from Vietnam to the National museum in New Delhi to pay their obeisance to the holy relic and then returned to their country on the same day, before the relic travels to Vietnam, in order to receive the Holy Relic in Vietnam. Vande Bharat Express to begin regular service between Srinagar-Katra from June 7
New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): The Northern Railway on Thursday announced the commencement of regular services of the Vande Bharat Express trains between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra starting June 7. The services will operate six days a week, enhancing connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the prominent pilgrimage destination. Two pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains, Train Nos. 26404/26403 and 26401/26402 were introduced on the Srinagar-Katra-Srinagar route, with an intermediate halt at Banihal. The trains were set to operate six days a week, excluding Wednesdays. SMVD Katra Vande Bharat Express departed from Srinagar at 08:00 hrs, halted at Banihal at 09:02 hrs, and reached Katra at 10:58 hrs. Srinagar Vande Bharat Express departed from Katra at 14:55 hrs, stopped at Banihal at 16:40 hrs, and arrived in Srinagar at 17:53 hrs. This service was scheduled for six days a week, excluding Tuesdays. Srinagar Vande Bharat Express left Katra at 08:10 hrs, reached Banihal at 09:58 hrs, and arrived in Srinagar at 11:08 hrs. Srinagar - SMVD Katra Vande Bharat Express started from Srinagar at 14:00 hrs, passed Banihal at 15:10 hrs, and reached Katra at 16:58 hrs. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Katra and Srinagar on June 6, marking the completion of the Katra-Sangaldan rail link project. The new route includes the Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge, making it a historic milestone for Indian inauguration has sparked excitement among residents in the region. Speaking to ANI, Abdul Azeez Chandel said, 'It will be very convenient if the train service begins here. We are very thankful to the government for working on this. It gives great comfort to the common people.' Kesar Singh, another local, recalled the area's past and noted the positive change.'I am very happy the train services started here. Earlier, the situation was bad here because of militancy. But now everything is good here. Nobody thought that the train would come here.' He added, 'The train will prove to be very convenient for the people. I applaud PM Modi for doing Operation Sindoor. He gave Pakistan a much-needed response.' Chaudhary Ghulam Hussain urged for more development, 'We have been waiting for the train from Katra to arrive as soon as possible for a long time. We want our people to benefit from it. We need such projects in Gulmarg, Srinagar, and Pahalgam.' Hussain said that the expansion will bring employment opportunities for locals.'If it is brought on the tourism map, it would be very good for us and the people because it would increase our employment opportunities for our children,' he said. Another local, Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, added, 'We had no hope that the train would run. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi made this real. It is a matter of happiness because it can connect us with the rest of India. It was a dream for us, but PM Modi did this in reality.' Meanwhile, security measures have been tightened at Udhampur Railway Station before the Prime Minister's visit. Amarnath Yatra 2025 to be conducted for reduced duration of 38 days for first time: Check dates
The Amarnath Yatra 2025 will be conducted from July 3 to August 9 this year, marking a reduced duration of 38 days for the first time along with added security. As per a report by news agency ANI, a total of 581 companies from various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will be deployed during the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025. 'The pilgrimage, scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 9, will now be conducted over a reduced duration of 38 days for the first time,' ANI reported. For the first time, jammers will be installed to protect the Shri Amarnath Yatra convoy during its movement, which will be escorted by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). During the passage of the convoy, all roads leading to the Yatra routes and National Highways will be temporarily blocked to ensure maximum security. In addition to these measures, a comprehensive deployment will include Road Opening Parties (ROPs) to secure and clear the routes, Quick Action Teams (QATs) for immediate response to threats, Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) for detecting and neutralizing explosives, K9 units (specially trained sniffer dogs), and drones for aerial surveillance. These arrangements will be in place on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes to the Amarnath Cave Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. Among other details, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has made it clear that those below 13 years and above 70 years of age will not be permitted for this Yatra despite they obtain the compulsory medical certificate.
