Riyadh Air orders up to 50 Airbus A350-1000 jets to ahead of 2025 launch
The deal, unveiled at the 55th Paris Airshow, includes 25 firm orders and purchase rights for an additional 25 aircraft.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony attended by top aviation and government leaders, including Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Chairman of Riyadh Air, Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas, and Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer.
Riyadh Air orders up to 50 Airbus planes
With an operational range of more than 16,000km, the Airbus A350-1000 will empower Riyadh Air to connect the Saudi capital with major cities worldwide, supporting its goal of flying to more than 100 global destinations by 2030.
The aircraft's range and capacity align perfectly with Saudi Arabia's plans to host global events including Riyadh Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.
Yasir Al-Rumayyan, PIF Governor and Chairman of Riyadh Air said: 'Our new national carrier is set to take to the skies in the near future, and as a fundamental element of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's infrastructure, will connect our capital city to over 100 international destinations around the globe by 2030.
'With its outstanding range, adding the Airbus A350-1000 to our fleet demonstrates the strategic contribution of Riyadh Air in positioning Saudi Arabia as a global aviation hub.'
Riyadh Air will begin operations in 2025 with a three-type aircraft fleet, of which the A350-1000 will serve as a cornerstone. With up to 182 aircraft now on order, the airline aims to offer best-in-class passenger experiences through innovative cabin design, stylish First-Class options, and state-of-the-art digital and entertainment systems.
Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said: 'Riyadh Air is making significant progress as we move towards our first flight later this year and agreeing this deal for up to 50 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft is an important statement of intent.
'Already in 2025, we have received our AOC and unveiled our new cabin interiors and having now completed our initial three aircraft orders, we are in a position to fulfil our ambitious network goals.
'We play an important role in the evolution of the Saudi aviation ecosystem with the aim to create 200,000 direct and indirect jobs and contribute almost $20bn to the Kingdom's non-oil GDP.'

Gulf residents are eligible to perform Umrah using several types of visas, including Umrah visas available via Nusuk, transit visas issued in partnership with Saudia Airlines and Flynas, and tourist visas that can be obtained through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official portal. This came weeks after the kingdom resumed international Umrah visa issuance, following the conclusion of this year's Hajj. Umrah is a non-mandatory Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike Hajj, which takes place during a specific period in the Islamic calendar. Although shorter and less complex than Hajj, Umrah holds great spiritual significance for Muslims around the world.

Dubai launches online licence system for visitors to drive boats
Visitors to Dubai can now easily enjoy the emirate's waters, thanks to a new licensing service from the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA). The authority, part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, will issue recreational boating licences to those licensed by member states of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), including GCC countries, Europe, the United States, and other IMO member states. The licence covers recreational vessels such as jet skis and speedboats. Under the new system, visitors can submit their existing national licence for verification online. Once validated, the DMA issues a local recreational boating licence, allowing them to operate boats for leisure, tourism, and sports activities. The authority emphasised that all internationally recognised licences meeting the prescribed standards are eligible, reinforcing Dubai's commitment to maritime safety and professionalism. The move coincides with the release of an updated manual regulating marine crew licensing in Dubai. The manual outlines the professional, medical, and technical requirements for operating boats, as well as procedures for application, examination, renewal, and licence amendments, all of which are accessible through digital platforms. It also introduces a framework for recognising licences issued by accredited international maritime authorities. Etihad Cargo strengthens connectivity with expanded winter belly-hold capacity
Increased frequencies to key markets including Lisbon, Manchester, Warsaw, Atlanta and Bangkok. 16 new destinations to be introduced between November 2025 and March 2026, strengthening connectivity across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, has announced an expanded winter schedule that will significantly increase belly-hold cargo capacity and enhance connectivity across its global network. The updated schedule introduces new routes to Hanoi, Hong Kong and Taipei, strengthening the carrier's operations in Asia and providing greater access to some of the world's fastest-growing cargo markets. To meet strong demand, Etihad Cargo will benefit from increased frequencies to a number of existing destinations, including Lisbon, Manchester, Warsaw, Atlanta and Bangkok, further reinforcing Abu Dhabi's role as a leading global logistics hub.
