Dianaworld review: For Diana fans to enjoy — but not to trust
Generally when I'm reviewing a book on a subject I've written about, I turn to the index as soon as I'm bored to see if I'm quoted, so I can skip to the scintillating bits. No need to, here; I rock up in the very first paragraph of the introduction: 'Of the various titles that Diana Spencer collected during her life, it is the unofficial one of 'the People's Princess' that has most come to encapsulate her reputation. The origins of the term are contested. Many have claimed that Tony Blair's spin doctor, the shrewd, calculating Alastair Campbell, invented it. Others have said it derived from Anthony Holden, a royal biographer and translator of ancient Greek poetry and Italian opera. Julie Burchill, a republican iconoclast perhaps best known for her writing about pop music, asserts that it was in fact she who bestowed the title upon Diana in a laudatory article about the princess published in 1992.'

I visited the cheap African holiday island that feels like Mykonos and Santorini with new easyJet flights

A confetti of tiny petals drifts in the breeze, dancing along the narrow, cobbled streets. The walls and doors of the sleepy paths are a quirky, open-air gallery. The resemblance to the alleyways of Mykonos and Santorini is striking and my arty stroll ends at a small cafe under a sprawling canopy of trees in a sunlit square. But when I tell you a small cup of strong coffee here costs 25p, you'll know I am nowhere near the trendy Greek isles. The small town of Erriadh sits at the centre of the island of Djerba —which was used as a filming location for Star Wars — just off the south coast of Tunisia. And at its heart is Djerbahood, the passion project of a famous French art gallery owner who convinced some of the world's best street artists to travel to Djerba, and its inhabitants to allow their walls to be daubed. Now, more than 250 murals and sculptures have transformed the heart of the neighbourhood. Relatively undiscovered by us Brits, Djerba is a great-value option for those looking to explore beyond the Med favourites. Low-cost giant easyJet has launched year-round flights to the island from both London Luton and Manchester, with fares from just £115 return, and easyJet holidays has packages from just £373pp. The island's compact size means it's easy to explore its intoxicating mix of North African heritage and Mediterranean influences. Sizzling in summer, temperatures remain high all the way through to November and rarely dip below the 20Cs, even in the depths of winter, making it ideal for out-of-season sunshine. Five stunning, little-known holiday destinations Hotels line the soft white-sand beaches on the island's north coast, including our base, the 5H Radisson Blu Palace Resort & Thalasso. The resorts' vast pool, surrounded by loungers and cabanas, leads down to small sand dunes and a broad stretch of sparkling white sands dotted with straw parasols. Its contemporary rooms are spacious and bright, with marble-clad bathrooms and balconies or terraces to soak up that sunshine. 8 The Sun's Lisa Minot exploring Credit: Supplied 8 The fortress of Borj El Kebir has been protecting the island's inhabitants from invading armies since the 13th century Credit: Getty 8 Our base, the 5-star Radisson Blu Palace Resort & Thalasso Credit: Supplied With four restaurants, three bars and the biggest Thalasso spa on the island, you could be forgiven for not straying far. But the island's compact size means it's easy to explore its intoxicating mix of North African heritage and Mediterranean influences. Troglodyte dwellings In the island's capital Houmt Souk on the north coast, the minarets of mosques sit alongside the St Joseph's Catholic church. Jutting out on a headland surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, the fortress of Borj El Kebir has been protecting the island's inhabitants from invading armies since the 13th century. Today you can explore the impressive fortifications and admire the stunning sea views from its now thankfully peaceful ramparts. Houmt Souk's pedestrianised streets lined with shops and restaurants lead on to covered souks and a spice market, as well as a rather less fragrant fish market. There's plenty of opportunities for a bit of souvenir shopping, from local handi-crafts and clothes, to Pottery Square where you can buy colourful ceramics from just £2 with a little haggling. If you're in need of sustenance after all that shopping, look no further than El Fondouk. This fabulous conversion of an 18th-century caravanserai, or travellers' inn, is open daily for morning coffees and pastries in its sun-soaked courtyard – then fresh seafood with couscous, fish curries and meaty kebabs at lunch and dinner. Prices are also excellent given the quality, with main dishes from £8 to £12. Also worth a trip out from the excellent restaurants back at the hotel was Haroun, in the nearby marina. Its outside terrace comes in the form of an actual ship's deck, complete with rigging and ropes, and is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail or two as the sun sets. Inside, the dishes coming out of the kitchen include traditional Tunisian specialities such as brik — crispy filo pastry parcels filled with meat or fish — as well as fried calamari and fresh fish. Luke Skywalker grew up in a troglodyte home in Tatooine (get it!) and you can visit locations from the smash-hit franchise. Again, prices are very competitive, with main courses from £13.50. And while Djerba has more than enough to keep a holidaymaker happy for a week, it would be a shame to come this far and not head over on to the mainland and into a galaxy far, far away. EasyJet has multiple tours you can take from Djerba, over the ancient Roman Road that crosses the sea to southern Tunisia. The centuries-old causeway is essentially a bridge, and as you travel the five miles you're rewarded with stunning views of shimmering waters on both sides. As you travel through the arid desert landscapes of the mainland, huge rock formations rise dramatically from the flat plains. The rugged mountains are home to the Berber people, and at Chenini we peek into the unique troglodyte dwellings carved into the rocky hillsides and admire the palm trees and olive trees growing around the oasis by the Chenini Canyon. 8 Strolling the streets of Tataouine, you can easily see how George Lucas was inspired to use the location for Star Wars Credit: Getty 8 Fans can visit locations from smash-hit franchise Star Wars Credit: Rex Strolling the streets of Tataouine, you can easily see how George Lucas was inspired to use the location for Star Wars. Love Island's Davide marks relationship milestone as ex Ekin-Su announces split
Davide Sanclimenti and Iris Au have celebrated their one-year anniversary -and he shared a sweet video montage with some of their best moments together in the past year Love Island star Davide Sanclimenti has marked a huge milestone in his relationship with his girlfriend after his ex, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, revealed she is going through a tough time since splitting from Curtis Pritchard. The 30-year-old Italian TV personality has celebrated his one-year anniversary with Iris Au, who is known as EyeRize online, and shared a sweet video montage of them to mark the occasion. The clip included some of the moments they enjoyed together over the past year, including dates and holidays. Davide can be seen giving his partner a huge bouquet of roses in the video, with another clip showing them kissing on the beach. He captioned the post "ONE," followed by a red heard emoji, adding: "Happy Anniversary." American Iris, who has two daughters - 10-year-old Paris and 11-year-old Pia - commented: "I love you so so much." Davide replied: "I love you baby." Davide, who has embarked on a new life in Los Angeles, went public with his romance with Iris in January. On Valentine's Day, he declared his love for Iris in an Instagram post, writing: "Happy Valentine's Day to the most romantic woman I've ever met. Since being with you, I learned what a 'monthsary' is." Davide shot to fame after winning Love Island with his ex Ekin-Su in 2022 - but the pair had a tumultuous relationship and split the following year. He then went on to meet Iris, while Ekin-Su dated dancer Curtis for three months this year after they appeared on Love Island: All Stars together and fell for each other. However, last week she said they have broken up as she shared the "tough decision" behind their split. Her statement read: "I wanted to share that Curtis and I have decided to go our separate ways. It's been a really tough decision, but one made with a lot of love and respect for one another. "He's an incredible person and I'll always cherish the memories we made both in and out of the villa. Thank you all so much for the love and support over the past few months. We're both focusing on navigating this transition and would really appreciate privacy during this time. Love always, Ekin-Su xX." Although Ekin-Su didn't give a straightforward reason for their split, she had been the centre of drama between Curtis and MAFS star Georges Berthonneau in recent weeks. The Married At First Sight star previously alleged he was in a relationship with the brunette beauty while she was dating Curtis. Speaking on Fubar Radio, Georges claimed: "On the day before my birthday, she was out with him that night, and they'd had an argument. She was messaging me whilst he was asleep in bed with her being like, I need to see you. Blah, blah, blah, like, I've got the receipts on my phone." He added: "Everyone was like 'why are you saying it now?', because I loved the girl and I didn't want to let go of it. And my biggest thing was, why should I keep protecting someone who can't even apologise or take accountability." He continued: "I even said to her on the phone, I was like 'are you not going to apologise?' You had sex with another man whilst I was at home. And you're not even going to apologise." Curtis later broke his silence and told The Sun: "Hey, if he wants to get in the ring with me, tell him to call me out and let's get in the ring. I've just been focusing on the camp. I haven't read anything or done anything, truthfully. And that's all that matters to me. I'm focusing on the camp, I'm focusing on having fun with Ekin and that's all that matters to me."

Love Island's Davide celebrates milestone with American girlfriend as ex Ekin-su reveals tough time after Curtis split
LOVE Island star Davide Sanclimenti has celebrated a huge milestone with his girlfriend Iris Au. The couple marked their one-year anniversary on Saturday with a special montage video. 4 Love Island's Davide celebrated a milestone with his US girlfriend Credit: Instagram 4 The Italian hunk shared a montage video looking back on their year together Credit: Instagram 4 Davide's relationship update comes after his ex Ekin-Su's split from Curtis Credit: Rex The clip featured photos of their loved-up dates together, to holidays and trips around the world and romantic gestures. The hunky Italian looked smitten with the mum-of-two. Davide is seen presenting his partner with a huge bouquet of roses and another clip showed them kissing on the beach. He captioned it: "ONE [love heart emoji] Happy Anniversary." The TV star shot to fame in 2022 when he won with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. The pair were known for their tumultuous relationship in and out of the villa, and they split the following year. Davide then confirmed he was dating his new girlfriend Iris Au last year. Los Angeles based Iris documents her life on social media. The 35-year-old has two daughters Paris, 10, and Pia, 11. Ekin-Su and Curtis Pritchard SPLIT three months after Love Island All Stars In March, Davide dropped a HUGE hint that he had married Iris after he referred to Paris as his "stepdaughter". It came after he posted a video which was titled "Pranking my stepdaughter', where he pretended to be auditioning to be her and her sister's manny (a male nanny) LOVED UP On Valentine's day, Davide confessed his love for Iris with a soppy Instagram post. Davide gushed: "Happy Valentine's Day to the most romantic woman I've ever met. Since being with you, I learned what a 'monthsary' is. It comes after Davide's ex Ekin-Su called time on her three-month releationship with Curtis Pritchard last week. The Sun exclusively revealed how their shock break-up - after three weeks of dating following their time in the Love Island spin-off villa - "wasn't weeks in the making." As such, the split is said to be "raw" for both parties who discovered they were "growing apart" - with work opportunities proving a key divide. A source close to the former couple has now told The Sun of the break-up: 'It was very much a mutual decision, but it happened very recently in the last few days. "It certainly wasn't weeks in the making, so it's still raw for them both but they had a series of crisis talks in the recent days which were emotional for them both. "They wanted to make it work, but they felt they like they were growing apart and they couldn't see a way forward. "One of the biggest issues for their relationship was their busy careers - it sounds like a cliche but Ekin, 30, is getting a lot of work opportunities out in America, while Curtis, 29, is focussing on his burgeoning boxing career as well as his new investment app. "As they are both so busy, it was becoming harder to prioritise the relationship and they realised that wasn't a good sign. "They are still on really good terms and it's all very amicable. "Nobody was blindsided, so there is no bad blood between them." EKIN-SU'S STATEMENT In May, Ekin-Su shared a statement on social media confirming they had parted ways. She said: "I wanted to share that Curtis and I have decided to go our separate ways. "It's been a really tough decision, but one made with a lot of love and respect for one another. "He's an incredible person and I'll always cherish the memories we made both in and out of the villa. "Thank you all so much for the love and support over the past few months. "We're both focusing on navigating this transition and would really appreciate privacy during this time. "Love always, Ekin-Su."
