Maha: Fadnavis warns of appropriate action against Supekar on availability of evidence

Pune, June 8 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Dev endra Fadnavison Sunday warned that if any evidence is found against inspector general of police, Prisons and Corrections Service, Jalindar Supekar, of his alleged involvement in helping the Hagavane family or corruption worth Rs 500 crore, then appropriate action will be taken. In a brief interaction with media here, he asserted that "We will not spare anyone, but it is not right to react to baseless allegations." While responding to allegations of diversion of the Social Department's funds, Fadnavis said that according to the state budget rules, the schemes for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have to be put under the heads of that department, therefore, no money has been diverted from any other department, he clarified. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also holds Finance portfolio, has allocated more funds to the Social Department this time in the state budget and this provision is more than before, he added. The money has not been diverted anywhere, but it has been spent properly in the same department, he averred. UNI SP SS

Not sure if Musk can return to President Trump's good books anymore: VP Vance

Washington, June 7 (UNI) US Vice President JD Vance has said he isn't sure Tesla CEO Elon Musk can ever get back into the good graces of President Donald Trump, after the two men had a public falling out earlier this week. The vice president was forced to respond in real time to Musk's Thursday barrage of social media posts attacking Trump — including the allegations that the president was on 'the Epstein files,' referring to the sex predator Jeffrey Epstein — as he was taping a podcast. In the interview released Saturday, Vance told podcaster Theo Von that it was a 'big mistake' for Musk to attack the president. 'I'm always going to be loyal to the president, and I hope that eventually Elon comes back into the fold,' Vance said, sitting in front of a painting of the president. 'Maybe that's not possible now because he's gone so nuclear.' In the last several days, the relationship between Musk and Trump has imploded after the former Department of Government Efficiency chief unleashed a broadside of attacks against the president, including highlighting his connections with Epstein and implying that he should be impeached. It has long been known that Trump and prominent politicians are referenced in documents released in court cases surrounding Epstein. But Trump is not accused of any wrongdoing linked to Epstein, Politico reported. Musk has been vocal in his opposition of the Trump-backed spending bill, which he argues will increase the nation's deficit. But the two exchanged fire earlier this week, with Trump also threatening Musk's government contracts, suggesting the world's richest man has 'lost his mind' and insisting he was moving on from him. Many Republicans have rallied to Trump's defense, suggesting they are taking his side in the fight — including Vance. 'If he and the president are in some blood feud, most importantly it's going to be bad for the country, but I don't think it's going to be good for Elon either,' Vance told Von. Musk has since deleted the original post accusing Trump of being on the 'Epstein list,' but has continued alluding to it in additional posts. 'I just think it's a huge mistake for the world's wealthiest man … to be at this war with the world's most powerful man,' Vance said on the podcast. In an NBC News interview with Kristen Welker, Trump said on Saturday he has no desire to rebuild his relationship with Musk. When asked if his relationship with him was over the president said, "I would assume so, yeah." On the call with Welker, Trump also threatened Musk with "serious consequences" should he decide to fund Democrats in upcoming elections. UNI RN

NDA will dethrone TN, West Bengal govts in 2026 : Amit Shah

Chennai, June 8 (UNI) Asserting that the BJP-led NDA would dethrone the present dispensation in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the NDA would form governments in these two states next year. Addressing the state, district and mandal level party office bearers at Madurai after offering worship at the Meenakshi Amman temple as part of his 2-day visit, he said the ruling DMK will be defeated in 2026 polls and an NDA government headed by the BJP-AIADMK would be formed. He also said besides Tamil Nadu, in West Bengal also the NDA will form governments in 2026. Criticising the DMK as a 100 per cent failed government, Mr Shah cited the alleged Rs, 1000 crore irregularities unearthed by ED in the state-owned TASMAC. "Using these funds, at least two classrooms could have been built in each school across the state", he said. He said he was living in Delhi but his ears are always on Tamil Nadu. Referring to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin's remarks that 'Not even Amit Shah, no Shah can rule TN", the Union Minister said Mr Stalin is right. "It's not me, but the people of Tamil Nadu will defeat you (DMK)," he said. Earlier, he began his address to the party cadres by apologising to them for not being able to talk in Tamil, which he said was one of the greatest languages. UNI GV 1915
