Out on bail, dismissed Beed cop claims Massajog sarpanch murder accused Valmik Karad gets VIP treatment in jail
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Ranjit Kasale, a dismissed sub-inspector from Beed, who got bail on Saturday in a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, has alleged that Valmik Karad, the primary accused in Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh's murder, receives preferential treatment in prison. Prison officials have categorically denied Kasale's accusations. Through social media videos, Kasale alleged that Karad receives non-vegetarian meals twice a week, makes substantial canteen purchases using other prisoners' names, and enjoys privileges like special three-layered rotis, exclusive tea, and a premium blanket suitable for comfortable rest. Beed prison superintendent Baksar Mulani dismissed these allegations as unfounded. "Kasale was lodged at Harsul jail in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He did not spend a single day in the Beed jail. He is in the habit of making sensational allegations to gain public attention," Mulani told TOI. Mulani added that Karad receives standard treatment according to prison regulations Kasale faced suspension on March 26 due to corruption allegations and evaded authorities for weeks until his arrest in Pune on April 18, preceding his dismissal. He faces additional charges for allegedly discrediting the Election Commission of India through a social media video. In it, he claimed his removal from EVM strongroom duty in Parli, Beed, facilitated vote manipulation, stating he declined a Rs 10 lakh bribe for election rigging. Official investigations revealed he never held any election responsibilities.
