Rangers to appoint second ex-Everton man as Koppen departs
Koppen is on his way out of Ibrox as he gets set to step down from his role as technical director days after Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises took a controlling stake in the club.
The new owners are looking to restructure things behind the scenes but it's understood the Belgian's exit is not a reflection on the work he has carried out.
Koppen's departure will be announced tomorrow and Rangers Review has now delivered the update that Purdy will start work on the same day.
It comes with ex-Toffees director of football officially starting as the Light Blues' new sporting director.

Koppen initially came in as director of football recruitment from PSV Eindhoven in December 2023 and was later promoted to technical director.
He leaves after 18 months at the club but will assist in the short-term with the transition.
Purdy previously worked with Thelwell at the Premier League outfit and has already left his post there.
Rangers are now expected to make an announcement on their new manager in the coming days, with Russell Martin and Davide Ancelotti frontunners.

After two previous caretaker stints at Tottenham, including leading the club into the 2021 Carabao Cup final, Mason has long been tipped for a future in management. Mason initially started coaching at youth level for Spurs upon his retirement in 2018 before being promoted to Antonio Conte's coaching staff three years later not long after a seven-game spell as interim boss. Another caretaker role came in 2023 following Conte's departure before Ange Postecoglou kept Mason as part of his backroom team. After a further two years as Tottenham first-team coach, Mason will take over West Brom after they finished ninth in the Championship. Mowbray was dismissed in April after their play-off hopes ended despite only being hired in January to replace Carlos Corberan, who left to take over at Valencia. Mason, whose contract at Spurs was up this month, will be tasked with leading West Brom back into the top flight for the first time since 2021.

Rangers chief Kevin Thelwell says head coach appointment due in ‘coming days'
Thelwell has officially started his role but had already been working on finding a new man to lead the first team after Barry Ferguson's spell in interim charge ended at the close of the season. Outgoing Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti remains the favourite with former Swansea and Southampton boss Russell Martin also heavily linked. Steven Gerrard reportedly dropped out of the race. Thelwell is looking to remove further uncertainty over the club's future after a takeover by an American consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises was confirmed on Friday. The 51-year-old, who has left a similar role with Everton, said on the Rangers website: 'It's a great honour to be joining Rangers, particularly at such an exciting moment in the club's history. Rangers confirmed that Thelwell had brought Dan Purdy with him from Everton to replace Nils Koppen as technical director. Koppen, who arrived from PSV Eindhoven in December 2023, initially as director of football recruitment, will work with Thelwell and Purdy to 'support a smooth handover'. Purdy spent 11 years at Everton working in scouting and analysis and most recently head of recruitment. Rangers stated Purdy would lead on recruitment and scouting across the men's, women's and academy programmes. Thelwell arrives after three years at Everton. He previously worked for the Football Association of Wales and was head of the youth academies of Preston, Derby and Wolves, the first two working under former Rangers midfielder Billy Davies. He moved to New York Red Bulls to become head of sport for two years before his switch to Everton. 'This is a new chapter for Rangers, and while we recognise success won't come easy, our goal is clear: we need to win,' he said. 'My focus is on delivering that, with discipline and ambition.
