Heidi Palin, from Llandyrnog, won the title of Champion Amateur National Hunt Lady Jockey 2024-25 on May 30 at Stratford Racecourse.
She has been amateur jockey for Dan Skelton in Warwickshire for the last five years.
Heidi said: 'I had three rides on Friday at Stratford and needed to win one of the races to win the title.
'I left it till the last race to cross the line and come first riding FrereD'Armes, winning by 13 lengths. There was a feeling of relief and excitement.
Heidi Palin (Image: Heidi Palin) 'When I held that award, I realised that the hard work and determination had paid off. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the support from everyone at work and my family.
'After my summer break, I'll be back to work at Dan's and hopefully get some good rides, and try and go for the Champion Lady Amateur Jockey again next year.'
Heidi joined the Denbigh and Flint Pony Club when she was younger and then tried her hand at show-jumping.
After she finished school at the age of 16, she then went to the British Racing School in Newmarket, where she completed a nine-week course.
From there, she went to ply her trade at Dan Skelton's yard in Warwick.

Scottish FA statement as Rangers takeover approved

Hampden bosses granted their approval as Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises acquired a major shareholding in Rangers. The club had earlier stated the takeover had passed checks with the Scottish FA as 49ers Enterprises hold a stake in English Premier League club Leeds. The Scottish FA has granted permission for the takeover deal to go ahead without any issue, subject to written undertakings signed by club officials and the investing party. The agreement means the investing party's interest in any other club does not preclude Rangers from participating in any UEFA competition they qualify for, among other commitments. A Scottish FA statement read: "The board of the Scottish FA has approved a dual interest dispensation request from Rangers Football Club under Article 13. "This approval has been granted subject to written undertakings, signed by the club and the investing party, which among other commitments ensures that the investing party's interest in any other clubs does not preclude the club from participating in any UEFA competition it qualifies for." Read more: The webpage states: 13. DUAL INTERESTS IN CLUBS 13.1 Except with the prior written consent of the Board:- (a) no club or nominee of a club; and (b) no person, whether absolutely or as a trustee, either alone or in conjunction with one or more associates or solely through an associate or associates (even where such person has no formal interest), who:- (i) is a member of a club; or (ii) is involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of a club; or (iii) has any power whatsoever to influence the management or administration of a club, may at the same time either directly or indirectly:- (A) be a member of another club; or (B) be involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of another club; or (C) have any power whatsoever to influence the management or administration of another club. Article 13 can be found in full from Page 91 of the Articles of Association 2024-25.

Premier League team of the season: Our writers' picks

F rom Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak's goalscoring exploits to the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal and Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa, the 2024-25 campaign has been full of tales of individual excellence. We asked our writers to pick out their teams of the season to highlight the players they feel deserve the most recognition. But do you agree with their selections? Let us know in the comments below if you think they have missed out any players and what your team of the season would be. There was only one dilemma; how to squeeze in Bryan Mbeumo when Salah has the right wing sewn up. Given that Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have been a revelation this season, as well as fun to watch, the solution was obvious. The front three have been integral to their teams achieving their targets this season and, behind them, Pedro Porro and Bruno Fernandes made big impacts in struggling sides. In goal, Jordan Pickford has risen to the challenge of Dean Henderson trying to oust him as England No1. A heavy mix of the top two with a couple of well-deserving Nottingham Forest players thrown in. Eberechi Eze, Lewis-Skelly and Isak all had seasons to remember, and without Fernandes Manchester United really might have been dragged into the bottom three. An underdog team for an underdog season. Honourable mentions for Matheus Cunha, Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood, Wissa, Morgan Rogers, Sandro Tonali, Declan Rice and Dean Huijsen. My manager of the season is Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola. What to say? This team has a bit of everything, a perfect combination of flair, vision, goals, technique and power.
