'Up for anything': Stuttgart eye Berlin nightlife after cup triumph
A brace from Enzo Millot and goals from Nick Woltemade and Deniz Undav took Stuttgart to a 4-2 win in the German capital, lifting their fourth German Cup and their first trophy since winning the league in 2006-07.

Hoeness told reporters he was "up for anything" to celebrate winning the first major trophy of his coaching career, including infamous fetish club Berghain.
The legendary nightclub, known for techno music, leather parties and a complete ban on cameras, is a fixture in Berlin's nightlife landscape, but also has a famously exclusive door policy.
"Who knows? But let's see if we can get in. Will take the trophy with us, but it probably won't make a difference for the bouncers."
Hoeness was showered with beer and champagne by his charges at the end of the post-match press conference, as has become a cup final tradition.

Stuttgart striker Undav said his side would get their official commitments out of the way quickly.
The Germany forward said he "won't be there long" at the club's official banquet before painting the town.
"If they're lucky, they'll see us for 10 minutes then we're out."

Ten Hag's first job since leaving United sees the Dutch coach faced with a major rebuild at Leverkusen following the departure of his title-winning predecessor Xabi Alonso and key players including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Granit Xhaka. 'I know how to manage processes and you can't force the process. It's impossible. No one is like Harry Potter," Ten Hag said on Thursday ahead of his first game on Friday in the German Cup against fourth-tier Sonnenhof Grossaspach. "Harry, he can really (quickly) construct a team, and in the same time it's successful, but that is not how top football works.' Ten Hag used the Harry Potter line in his time at United, too. Following a loss to Liverpool in September 2024, he said he was no Harry Potter while explaining the difficulties of relying on players who hadn't had much game time. Less than two months later, Ten Hag was fired by United after four losses in nine Premier League games. Ten Hag said he and the Leverkusen players will have to work hard together through the first half of the season and into the spring to be able to fight for trophies at the end of the campaign. 'For me, the start of the season is the middle of March, April 1, then you have to be in a position that you can win something,' he said. 'Until that time, we all have to work unbelievably hard to get into that position, to develop and progress the game model and to develop the team and the individual players.' New signings ahead of Friday's game include American attacking midfielder Malik Tillman, who Ten Hag said wasn't fit to play, ex-Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah and former Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken. German Cup: Ten Hag makes successful debut with Bayer Leverkusen and Bielefeld upsets Bremen
BERLIN (AP) — Erik ten Hag made a winning start as Bayer Leverkusen coach with a 4-0 result at fourth-tier team Sonnenhof Großaspach in the first round of the German Cup on Friday. Patrik Schick, Brazilian wing back Arthur, debutant Christian Kofane and Álex Grimaldo all scored, but they assumed control only after Großaspach captain Volkan Celikwas was sent off in the 66th with two bookings in as many minutes. Leverkusen was forced to defend for long periods after Schick's 32nd-minute opener. The Czech forward also needed to clear the ball off the line. Arthur scored the second shortly after Celikwas' sending off and the other goals followed Mert Tasdelen's late sending off for a bad challenge on Leverkusen defender Axel Tape. Ten Hag, the former Manchester United manager, took over from the Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso and has had little time to work with a squad undergoing huge changes. Key players like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Granit Xhaka have left while Kofane, Tape, Ernest Poku, Ibrahim Maza, Jarell Quansah and goalkeeper Mark Flekken all made their debuts on Friday. Bielefeld does it again American forward Isaiah Young struck in the final minutes to fire last season's beaten finalist Arminia Bielefeld into the second round with a 1-0 win over Werder Bremen. The Bundesliga side's Leonardo Bittencourt was sent off in the 54th and Bielefeld pushed hard for the winner. Young made his entrance in the 79th and sent the home fans wild when he tucked the ball inside the left post in the third minute of stoppage time. Bielefeld, then playing in the third division, knocked out a host of Bundesliga clubs — including Bremen — on its way to the final in May, when Stuttgart proved too strong. Stuttgart's title defense won't start till later this month as it's playing Bayern Munich in the German Supercup on Saturday. Richard Hughes wanted to rebuild Arne Slot's side this summer and the final pieces in the jigsaw are still yet to be secured. The first of those jigsaw pieces is Alexander Isak. He's been Liverpool's dream target for a long time and next week we should find a resolution to the saga that has been going on for the longest time. Liverpool may add another winger to the equation as well. Although it remains to be seen whether with such little time left they can find the right target. But the other key piece of the puzzle is Marc Guehi. 🔴 Like Isak, the Crystal Palace captain has long been on Liverpool's radar. In fact, the Reds have wanted to sign him since the beginning of the summer. Guehi has one year left on his contract and it's clear that he doesn't want to extend. He wants to leave the club. Whether it's in the next two weeks or next summer, the end result will be the same. So, it's in Palace's interest to make sure that he goes this summer. At least this way they won't lose him for nothing but they can actually get compensated for making Guehi into the player he is today. Liverpool have been working on a deal to do exactly that. They haven't yet succeeded but it looks like they are going to make another push for the Crystal Palace star.
