Fortnite Super Showdown live event – date, new crossovers and what to expect
The Fortnite Super Showdown live event has been unveiled, promising to bring significant upheaval to the island with a major battle and potentially a couple of exciting crossovers.
Although it may not have been so immediate in reality, as soon as the Fortnite Blast Off event countdown reached zero, it seemed as though another thrilling live event was on the horizon. To be fair, Fortnite's introduction of a live event just before the Chapter 6 Season 3 end date was unexpected, making the arrival of the new Fortnite Super Showdown live event a pleasant surprise.
The new live event comes as the end of the season approaches, offering players a packed Super Battle Pass featuring Superman, who joined the Fantastic Four cosmetics to make the game feel truly embedded in the current superhero pop culture scene. It's been an engaging and immersive period, but there's clearly more in store as new kaiju-grade monsters threaten the island as we approach its next season.
So, what exactly can we anticipate from the Fortnite Super Showdown live event? Here's what you need to know.

The Fortnite Super Showdown live event is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 2 at 11.30am PDT / 2.30pm EDT / 7.30pm BST. This date and time has already been confirmed by Epic Games, who shared the event's key art on Twitter.
The game has confirmed that doors for the event will open half an hour prior to the start, as anticipated. This gives players ample time to log in and prepare for the showdown, which is certainly good news. What can we expect from the Fortnite Super Showdown live event?
At present, official details are scant. However, Epic Games has released a tantalising teaser for the event on Twitter. It reveals a shadowy, tentacled monster with glowing yellow eyes on its tendrils, suggesting we'll be battling a kaiju beast, targeting its eyes as weak points.
The trailer concludes by revealing the event's location – Demon's Domain – and labels it as a 'story event'. This implies that the event is tied to the current villains, Kor and Mask Maker Daigo, rather than being a standalone occurrence. The origins of this monster remain a mystery, but it's sure to be thrilling to uncover. Fortnite Super Showdown live event crossovers
While the Fortnite Super Showdown live event appears to be in a world of its own, there's a high probability that another superhero crossover is on the horizon. As revealed by Fortnite leaker @iFireMonkey at this year's San Diego Comic Con, DC Studios' James Gunn announced that to commemorate the second season of the show, the main character Peacemaker (portrayed by John Cena) will be making an appearance in Fortnite, although no specific date has been disclosed. The super theme of this season is ideal for his debut, but it's possible that the studio might delay until the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2 on Thursday, August 21.
As a bonus, though, according to leaker @ShiinaBR, there are also whispers of a Power Rangers crossover coming to the game, which would perfectly complement the upcoming Kaiju battle, adding a touch of tokusatsu thrill to the game. Again, there's no confirmation on when this crossover might occur, but the timing of these rumours is certainly intriguing.
As it stands, this is all we know about the Fortnite Super Showdown live event, and from what we've gathered so far, it promises to be a thrilling experience. It's encouraging to know that it won't immediately lead into the season finale, giving us the opportunity to explore and bid farewell to several POIs. You could say it's going to be super. Apologies for the pun.

Blitz Royale Fortnite Mega City Reborn – everything you need to know about the new update
The Blitz Royale Fortnite mode is back, and it's got a shiny new update. Here's everything you need to know about the Blitz Royale Fortnite Mega City Reborn changes. Fortnite's latest superstar mode has received a new upgrade, introducing an iconic POI. The introduction of the Blitz Royale Fortnite mode was a significant event, particularly given the number of modes the game has launched that have subsequently faded from prominence. Despite incorporating first-person perspectives, Ballistic mode didn't quite hit the mark, and as Lego Fortnite continues to experiment with limited success, it seems Fortnite fans aren't fully embracing new concepts. That is, until Blitz Royale offered a fresh spin on the Battle Royale formula, reducing its playtime to under five minutes and squeezing 32 players into a condensed version of the game's map. This ingenious move, combined with the recent Fantastic Four cosmetics and the loaded Super Battle Pass, has made this season rather extraordinary. However, there's more in store as Blitz Royale, now shedding its LTM status, introduces new elements for players to be aware of, including the return of a renowned POI in a reduced form. So, what should you know about the Blitz Royale Fortnite Mega City Reborn update? Here's everything you need to keep tabs on. Blitz Royale Fortnite Mega City Reborn Epic Games has announced the arrival of the Blitz Royale Fortnite Mega City Reborn update, which reintroduces Mega City, a point of interest (POI) that first made its appearance in Chapter 4 Season 2. The area is filled with grind rails and offers numerous speedy routes for navigation, making it an exciting and fast-paced location to explore. The update introduces a new six-person team playlist named Six Stack, providing players with the opportunity to form a formidable team. Additionally, a Pure Chaos playlist has been added, which launches you into a game with no bots and a completely random assortment of players with varying skill levels. These new modes will be available for two weeks before being replaced by others. The Dragon Ball Z Kamehameha Mythic weapon has also made a comeback in the game, meaning players can once again be targeted from afar. Alongside this, players have the opportunity to unlock the Blitz Founder's Wings Back Bling by completing either of the two Blitz Founders quests, which are: Although the update doesn't necessitate any significant patch notes from the Epic Games team, it provides plenty to keep fans engaged in the new Blitz Royale Fortnite mode update. So why not give it a go? It won't take long for you to get hooked.

Frustrated Fortnite players call for better Emotes after 'terrible' Jonas Brothers dance releases
Some Fortnite fans have started to get annoyed at the game's emotes, with some even calling for the game's developers to up their game when it comes to the game's dances Fortnite has consistently churned out cosmetic items, but some fans argue that this could be its downfall as players unite to criticise the game's recent lacklustre emotes. Cosmetics are the lifeblood of Fortnite, so much so that they've practically overshadowed the game itself. The introduction of Fantastic Four cosmetics was a significant event, with players hoping that the anticipated debut of Marvel's first family wouldn't follow the pen and ink style of the recent Super Battle Pass Superman skin. Thankfully, they didn't, otherwise Epic Games would have missed a substantial payday, particularly in the lead-up to the Super Showdown live event expected to bring more crossovers. The game continues to introduce new skins and cosmetics to maintain player interest and keep the game as relevant as ever. However, it appears that many players are growing weary of the game team's recent offerings. Some fans have taken to the internet to voice their overall dissatisfaction with the current state of emotes following some iconic dances – it's evident that many players have simply had enough. Exiting the Item Shop with a Waltz Taking to the FortniteBR subreddit, u/carno_101 has voiced their exasperation with Fortnite's current emote offerings in a fresh post, as the game unveils its latest dance inspired by The Jonas Brothers' Sucker. "They really aren't trying anymore," they declare in the headline, before elaborating: "From the extinction of original music in emotes. To only getting new icon emotes and now the icon emotes feel absolutely soulless. This feels like a 300 vbuck emote on loop with a song that has 0 relation to the dance." Fellow players appear to share this viewpoint, with u/alarrimore03 commenting: "It really is terrible. The dance isn't good, it doesn't match the song at all really, and it short and repeats like 3 times before it resets. Nearly all the emotes in the last 6 months have been this way." It's evident that enthusiasts are becoming increasingly disheartened by the day, and regrettably they make a valid argument – the title has declined considerably since introducing Orange Justice, and even the Griddy achieved legendary status amongst emotes. With fresh choreography allocated to Gracie Abrams, Ed Sheeran and Camilla Cabello that barely accomplish anything beyond incorporating their tracks into the game, it appears the title finds itself in a precarious position. Fortunately, the game's character skins have maintained quality recently, functioning as the primary and most coveted cosmetics that gamers desire, otherwise this could trigger something of a downward spiral for Epic Games. The company evidently requires a complete overhaul of its dance choreography.
