
40-year-old man killed in motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist died in a crash on Tuesday, Edmonton Police Service says.
The crash near Highway 2 and Highway 19 was reported around 10:50 p.m.
Police were told a motorcycle and a car were travelling through an industrial park when the 40-year-old man on the motorcycle collided with a concrete barrier.
He died at the scene.
EPS' major collision unit is investigating.
The car's driver was not hurt.
The motorcyclist is the 20th person to die in a crash in Edmonton this year.
The city's number of fatal crashes is on track to surpass those in recent years. Twenty-six people were killed in crashes in 2024, and 27 the year before.

A man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a house fire in Pickering that left a 69-year-old woman dead in June. The fire happened on the afternoon of June 11 in the area of Primrose Court and Fairport Road. A 69-year-old woman was found dead inside the residence. Following a post-mortem, police deemed her death a homicide. On June 19, a 34-year-old Pickering woman was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, police said at the time. A 34-year-old man was also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with the investigation. In a news release Monday, police said the man was taken into custody last Friday.
