March Madness: Betting odds for Florida-Houston in 2025 NCAA Tournament Championship Game
The Florida Gators have nearly reached the promised land in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, with just one opponent standing between them and the program's third-ever national championship. That team is the Houston Cougars, who will face the Orange and Blue inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Monday night.
If you are looking for the early betting odds for this game you are in luck, as BetMGM released its numbers on Sunday morning ahead of the apex of March Madness.
Todd Golden's team has won 11-straight games, picking up an SEC Championship crown along the way while winning all five of their Big Dance affairs so far. Kelvin Sampson's team has been even better, bringing in an 18-game winning streak into the finals, which also included a Big 12 title as well.
The two schools have only met twice before — in Gainesville back in 1970 and in Houston in 1973 — and the Cougars won both times.

Florida vs Houston in NCAA Finals prediction, pick:
The Gators continue to look like a team of destiny, but make no mistake, the Cougars have some serious mojo going on as well. Both teams have to claw back from deficits in the Final Four against the Auburn Tigers and Duke Blue Devils — either of which could have easily been slated for Monday night's battle. Suffice it to say, the Florida-Houston ticket is about as evenly matched as it gets.
However, the two schools operate very differently as Houston prefers to play a slow, methodical game relying on the nation's strongest defense, while Florida prefers a fast pace, breaking out in transition after their frontcourt wrecking crew grabs the rebound — something the Gators are among the best in the country at doing.
So, who will win? The Orange and Blue. But it will be a bruiser of a game that has us on the edge of our seats the entire way.
Prediction: Florida 75, Houston 72

Yankees rookie Cam Schlittler takes a perfect game into the seventh inning

TAMPA, Fla. — Cam Schlittler was throwing a perfect game through six innings Wednesday night, the longest bid by a New York Yankees rookie in nearly 60 years. The 24-year-old right-hander retired the first 18 Rays he faced before Chandler Simpson led off the seventh with a single to right. Schlittler finished with 6 2/3 scoreless, one-hit innings in just his seventh major league start. He struck out eight, all swinging, and walked two.

"Obviously can't happen:'' Yankees' Jose Caballero gets tossed from Wednesday's game at a critical time

TAMPA, Fla. - One of the newest Yankees, playing against his old team, Jose Caballero's odd 10th inning odyssey on the bases ended with his ill-timed ejection from Wednesday night's game. "Really frustrated. I have to do better next time,'' said Caballero, after the Yankees' dramatic 6-4 win against the Rays at Steinbrenner Field, in 10 innings. "Can't happen,'' said Aaron Boone, who spoke with Caballero about his over-the-top reaction, which forced the Yanks' manager to play Giancarlo Stanton in right field in the 10th. Amed Rosario, the last player on the Yanks' bench, was already ticketed to play third base after Stanton's tie-breaking homer as a pinch-hitter for Ryan McMahon. "In that got to turn away and let me handle that,'' said Boone. As a player, "you can't allow yourself to cross a line.'' On first base in the 10th, with the Yanks ahead 6-3, the speedy Caballero (who had already stolen his league-leading 40th base) drew three throws from Rays closer Pete Fairbanks. The last throw didn't count as a disengagement since Fairbanks was not on the pitching plate, though the decision not to award Caballero second base required a conference of all four umps. Caballero, who also survived one Rays' replay challenge at first base, then took off for second for an easy stolen base - until he was called out by second base ump Roberto Ortiz for over-sliding the bag. After the out call was confirmed on replay, Caballero confronted Ortiz and earned a quick ejection as Boone rushed out in a frantic - but too late - attempt to save his player, who kept up his aggressive argument. "I wasn't happy about the call,'' said Caballero, traded to the Yanks from Tampa Bay at MLB's July 31 deadline. "There's no way you can see that I came off the bag…in real time. "I was just frustrated. I said it multiple times and he didn't like it.'' Rockets' decision to trade young star tabbed one of worst offseason moves

Rockets' decision to trade young star tabbed one of worst offseason moves originally appeared on The Sporting News The Houston Rockets made one of the best moves of the offseason, but they also might have made one of the worst. This offseason, the Rockets were an undeniable winner of the summer, adding Kevin Durant to a team that just finished second in the Western Conference standings. With Durant on the roster, Houston is expected to be among the top contenders in the league next season, challenging the Oklahoma City Thunder's spot as the NBA's best. While that move was certainly one of the best in the entire league, the Rockets didn't hit on every move they made this summer. While Durant is coming in, the Rockets could have made a big mistake letting a young star leave. Will Houston regret trading Cam Whitmore? In a recent article from Bleacher Report predicting the moves this offseason that will age the worst, Dan Favale listed the Rockets' decision to send Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for a couple of second-round picks. It's hard to deny that Whitmore has the talent to make it in this league, but his fit in Houston was questionable at best. Whitmore spent much of last season complaining about his role, while Rockets coach Ime Udoka told reporters that the team had laid out what he needed to do to see the floor more. With Whitmore wanting the ball in his hands more and there being even less playing time on the wing with Durant's arrival, it made sense for the Rockets to let Whitmore shine elsewhere. Although the move should work out for Whitmore, Houston might regret letting him get away for such little return if he can prove his worth in Washington.
