EV firm PURE introduces 5MWh grid storage product; lines up Rs 400 cr for capacity expansion

is expected to find usage across solar and wind projects, large commercial and industrial establishments and across EV fast charging stations on highways.
Addressing a press conference, PURE Founder & MD
Nishanth Dongari
said the company is set to invest Rs 400 crore in the next 18 - 36 months in energy storage products to expand battery and power electronics production and in-house firmware capabilities, boosting its capacity to 2.5 GWh from the current 250 MWh.
This expansion, funded through equity and debt, builds on the Rs 100 crore plus invested in R&D, plant setup, and battery manufacturing.

Commenting on the PuREPower Grid introduction, Dongari said the product is a catalyst for India's energy transformation.
"We have harnessed our deep expertise in battery technology and power electronics to create a grid scale product," he added.

The product would contribute to grid stability and the seamless integration of renewables, he added.
"PuREPower Grid will also propel the fast charger adoption for EV with the integration of battery energy storage system products by eliminating the expensive and time consuming activities of transformer upgrade, right of way and distribution upgrade," Dongari said.
The demand for battery energy storage systems (BESS) in India is expanding with market projected to reach over USD 36 billion by end of this decade driven by country's focus on integrating 500 GW of renewable energy with requirement for over 200 GWh of BESS by 2030.

AP Chambers suggests govt to diversify exports
Vijayawada: AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao said here on Thursday that the impact of 50 percent US tariffs on exports has affected many sectors in Andhra Pradesh especially aqua, textiles, agri products, auto components and others. The major share of exports from India, worth around USD 83 billion, is to the US and requested the Central government to take measures to diversify exports to other countries to reduce the dependence on the US. He was addressing the meeting with the affiliated associations of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce of Industry Federation (AP Chambers) organised here. AP Chambers has around 78 affiliated associations representing various sectors in Andhra Pradesh. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the pressing issues faced by different sectors and the impact of US tariffs on exporters. Speaking on the occasion, Bhaskara Rao said, 'We request the Central government to bring back export subsidies, provide better access to working capital facilities, and offer reduced GST rates to affected sectors. The import duty on raw materials should be reduced to make Indian products more competitive in the international markets.' Bhaskara Rao added, 'The State government is yet to release incentives that have been pending for the last 5 to 6 years. We have been requesting the State government to release the long-pending incentives and we believe that the government is now planning to clear all pending incentives by September. This will provide the much-needed impetus to MSMEs. Also, the fuel and power charges are very high in Andhra Pradesh compared to neighbouring states. We have been requesting the government to bring down fuel and power charges to enable our industries to compete with industries from other states.' Andhra Pradesh has been ranked number one in Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) for the past 3 to 4 years. The Chambers recently submitted a detailed representation to both the Central and State governments to improve the EoDB by bringing reforms in the age-old fire, pollution, and building norms, and by extending the validity of NOCs from 1 to 5 years with self-certification option. AP Chambers general secretary B Raja Sekhar stated that the 50 per cent US tariffs has impacted many sectors in AP including engineering. To mitigate the impact of the tariffs, India sh ould reduce its dependence on the US markets. The Chambers requested the Central government to bring back schemes such as Marketing Development Assistance (MDA), Market Access Initiative (MAI), Interest Equalisation Scheme (IES) and others. The government should implement the proposed two-slab GST rate structure as it will simplify tax compliance for businesses and provide relief to some sectors. AP Chambers treasurer Akkaiah Naidu, Affiliates Council chairman Bayana Venkat Rao, and Affiliates Council Vice-chairperson Radhika participated in the meeting. Presidents and secretaries of many state-level industry associations participated in the deliberations.

Govt plans to cut paddy cess, abolish market fee
Guntur: The state .government is considering a significant move to boost the state's agriculture sector by abolishing the market fee on rice exports and reducing the agricultural marketing department cess on paddy from 2 per cent to 1 per cent. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu .assured the Andhra Pradesh Rice Millers Association that a favorable decision will be made soon. A cabinet sub-committee has been formed to study the issue and submit recommendations. A formal government order is expected once the report is finalised. Sources indicate that the agricultural marketing department has already begun preparations to implement the changes. The abolition of the market fee on rice exports is anticipated to encourage traders to increase shipments to other states and countries, thereby raising demand for paddy and ensuring better prices for farmers. Ch Subba Rao, a leader of the AP Rice Millers Association, noted that states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu already have no export tax, giving their farmers a competitive edge. 'By abolishing the market fee, our farmers will also be able to sell rice in other states, which will increase the demand for paddy,' he said. The proposed reduction in the agricultural market cess on paddy from 2 per cent .to 1 per cent is expected to lessen the financial burden on traders, with the benefits hopefully being passed on to farmers. However, the move could significantly impact the agricultural marketing department's revenue, which currently stands at around Rs 700 crore per year from cess collections. A reduction to one percent would cut this revenue by half, to about Rs 350 crore. Employees of the department are opposing the move, fearing a severe financial crisis that could affect their salaries and pensions. They have urged the government to pay their salaries from the '010' head of accounts to ensure financial stability.
