Ahmedabad Plane Crash: The Air India flight AI-171 that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12 shortly after its takeoff has shocked the nation and claimed 270 lives. However, in a crucial development, the Cockpit Voice Recorder has been found.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr. PK Mishra, on Sunday, visited the site of the crash.

According to a release from the Prime Minister's Office, the officials have confirmed the recovery of the Cockpit Voice Recorder.
The recovery of the voice recorder is crucial for the investigation, as it could help determine the cause of the ill-fated crash.
Black Boxes Of Air India Flight
As per reports, the second black box of the flight AI-171 was also found. Earlier, the first black box was recovered from the roof of the crash site.
The release from the PMO, informing of Dr. Mishra's visiting and chairing a high-level review meeting in Ahmedabad, stated that the officials confirmed that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) was secured.

The aircraft that was travelling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed into the building of BJ Medical College, resulting in more damage, injuries, and deaths.
Air India earlier confirmed that out of the total 242 passengers on board, there was only one survivor who had reportedly jumped from the flight and miraculously saved himself. Other than the passengers, the crash also led to the demise of people in the Medical College building, and the death toll now stands at 270.
Amongst the passengers, there were British nationals, Portuguese nationals, Indians, and one Canadian. Reactions and condolences poured in from the international community. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also on the flight.
Tata Group also sprang into action after the incident.
On the other hand, the DNA of the bodies recovered from the site is currently being matched to the families of the victims.
Probe Into Crash
According to the PMO release, the AAIB has launched a detailed investigation, and the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting a parallel probe under international protocols since the aircraft is American-made.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation earlier announced the formation of a high-level multi-disciplinary committee to examine the causes leading to the fatal crash.

Surrounded by grieving family members and close friends, she stood by his side as the funeral rituals commenced. Union home minister Amit Shah and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel laid wreaths and offered their final respects to Rupani. Earlier, CM Patel, accompanied by senior cabinet colleagues, stood in silence at the mortuary block of Ahmedabad civil hospital, where Rupani's mortal remains were kept for public homage. Health minister Rushikesh Patel and minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi also paid their tributes. Former deputy CM Nitin Patel was among the first to visit the mortuary, where he met Rupani's family and extended his condolences. Rupani, 68, who was the chief minister from August 2016 to September 2021, steered Gujarat through a critical post-Covid recovery phase. He was among the 242 passengers and crew members on board the London-bound Air India flight AI-171 that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. While 241 persons on board the aircraft died, one passenger miraculously survived. Besides, 29 persons are reported to have died in the disaster on the ground, which includes five MBBS students.

ED issues fresh summons to Robert Vadra for Tuesday in money laundering case
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra asking him to appear before it on Tuesday in connection with its money laundering probe linked to fugitive arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, people familiar with the development said. He was earlier issued a summon on June 10 but he had sought another date. ED's probe against Bhandari, in which Vadra is also under the scanner, relates to two properties in London as well as some land parcels in India. 'He has been issued fresh summons for Tuesday,' said an officer, who didn't want to be named. Vadra did not respond to HT's text message requesting for a comment. Fugitive arms dealer Bhandari, 61, is under investigation by multiple agencies — including ED, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax department, and Delhi Police — for money laundering and violation of foreign exchange as well as black money laws. Bhandari, who has access to sensitive defence documents, is also being investigated under the Official Secrets Act. The Union government has sent two extradition requests against the fugitive dealer which were certified by then UK home secretary Priti Patel in June 2020, following which the British authorities arrested him on July 15, 2020. Earlier this year, however, a King's bench division at the UK high court on February 28 allowed his plea against his extradition to India, primarily on the grounds that he would be at risk of extortion, torture or violence from other inmates or prison officials in Tihar jail. ED has claimed that one of the properties at 12, Bryanston Square, London, acquired by Bhandari in 2009, is linked to Vadra, as it was 'renovated' on his directions and using his funds. The federal agency further claimed that Vadra has stayed in this property 'three-four times'. The second property under the scanner is located at 6, Grosvenor Hill Court, 13 Bourdon Street in London. Both the properties are being treated as 'proceeds of crime' of Bhandari and an NRI businessman, CC Thampi, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). ED had registered a case in the matter in 2016. Thampi is a businessman, who controlled a Dubai based company, and allegedly played a key role in Vadra acquiring London properties. Thampi was arrested in January 2020.

Air India crash: Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani's mortal remains handed over to his family
The mortal remains of Gujarat's former chief minister Vijay Rupani, who was one of the victims of the deadly air crash in Ahmedabad, were handed over to his family members on Monday. His remains were then brought to Rajkot, his hometown, for the last rites. An Air India plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Ahmedabad airport on June 12, leading to the deaths of 241 of the 242 people onboard. One of the passengers, seated near the emergency exit seat, survived the crash. As on Monday, June 16, DNA samples of 99 victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash matched with kin, with 64 bodies handed over to families, official said. The flight, AI-171, which was flying to London Gatwick airport, crashed into the hostel of the B J Medical College, reportedly leading to 29 casualties on the ground as well. Among these, five were MBBS students. The remains were handed over to Rupani's family by the civil hospital authorities in Ahmedabad, according to PTI news agency. Rupani's last rites will be conducted at the Ramnathpara crematorium. A funeral procession will be held for Rupani at 5 pm, with the Rajkot police stepping up security measured and traffic restrictions, with VIP movement expected in the city. '…we have closed the main route decided for the procession.,' Parthraj Singh Gohil, DCP Crime, told ANI news agency. The police also urged the people to use parking areas designated for the procession. Gohil said that parking arrangements had been made at different places, while appealing that the people park in those spaces only. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and senior cabinet ministers from the Gujarat government, paid their last respects to Rupani at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital earlier today. Rupani's family members said that it was 'extremely difficult' to cope with his passing away. Rupani's son, Rushabh, said that this is "a sad time not just for us, but for 270 families too". He further thanked personnel from the Civil Defence and Fire Services, RSS workers, the police and the Aarogya staff for their rescue efforts, calling them 'praiseworthy'. He also expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat CM Patel, and the other leaders who were supporting 'not just our family, but also all other families'. Rupani's son-in-law Nimit Mishra said the incident was 'tragic' not just for his family but for everyone who had lost a loved one. He said that the family was finding it 'extremely difficult' to come to terms with the loss.
