Braves Acquire Rival's Ace In Intradivisional Trade Proposal
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
The Atlanta Braves began the season abysmally but turned it around at the beginning of May, and are right back in contention to return to October. Entering Friday, the Braves' rotation ranked 22nd in the league in starting pitching ERA, and could use the reinforcements down the stretch.

Photo byFansided's Nick Halden created a proposal that would bring reinforcements to Atlanta in a trade with the division rival Miami Marlins for ace Sandy Alcántara. The Braves would benefit from the bonus of snatching a pitcher of Alcántara's prestige away from a division rival.
Although Alcántara has been struggling in the early months of this season, he is returning from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in 2023, which took all of last season to recover from. Alcántara entered Friday with an 8.42 ERA over seven starts and 23 strikeouts over 31 innings pitched. That's much different from his Cy Young-winning 2022, when he posted a 2.28 ERA over 228 2/3 innings, racking up 207 strikeouts.
Alcántara is still the ace of the Miami staff and is looking to turn his season around, and putting a playoff-caliber team like Atlanta around him would certainly do the trick for the 29-year-old. After letting Max Fried walk in the offseason and persistent injuries to Spencer Strider, the Braves are looking to find someone to take the lead on the pitching staff.
Under Halden's hypothetical, the Braves would be sending a pair of prospects and a struggling Jarred Kelenic to the Marlins in return for Alcántara. The pair of prospects are no slouches either: former first-round pick and current No. 6 ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline right-hander Owen Murphy, and the Braves' No. 4 prospect infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. That pair alone would be grand enough to net a solid return, and the addition of a former high-ranked prospect in Kelenic eases the Marlins' worries about trading inside the division.
Both teams would benefit from this trade, the Braves landing one of the game's best pitchers, although he is struggling, and the Marlins would grab pieces for the future they are building toward.

Brewers calling up top pitching prospect who throws 103 MPH
The post Brewers calling up top pitching prospect who throws 103 MPH appeared first on ClutchPoints. The time has come for the Milwaukee Brewers to call up their top pitching prospect, Jacob Misiorowski. The right-hander is MLB Pipeline's No. 30 overall prospect, and he has the potential to be an elite strikeout pitcher. Misiorowski can reach 103 MPH on his fastball. The MLB is starting to see this velocity more and more, and while it can be dangerous, it is fun to see. Misiorowski is a former second-round pick out of Crowder College. At 23 years old, he is entering the prime of his career, and his minor league numbers were too good to wait any longer. According to Baseball Reference, in 13 appearances and 12 starts this season in the minors, the right-hander is 4-2 with a 2.13 ERA, with 80 strikeouts, 31 walks, and 1.09 WHIP in 63.1 innings. He adds a 5.4 H9, 0.6 HR9, 4.4 BB9, and 11.4 SO9. He is more than ready to make his MLB Debut, which will be this Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals at home. Milwaukee has been dealing with a few pitching injuries, so this move is coming at the right time. Brandon Woodruff has more injury concerns, and his return to the rotation has been delayed after a recent injury scare. Milwaukee isn't calling up Misiorowski with the intention of sending him back down. If the young hurler pitches well, he will keep a rotation spot. When healthy, a rotation filled with Misiorowski, Woodruff, Freddy Peralta, Jose Quintana, and Aaron Civale is respectable. Chad Patrick and Quinn Priester have pitched well this season and deserve to be in contention. They also have Logan Henderson, who is off to a fantastic start to his MLB career. However, he was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. With Woodruff not expected back for a few more weeks, the Brewers could continue with a six-man rotation in the meantime. At 36 years old, Quintana is still pitching well enough to keep a starting position. The Brewers are coming off a 7-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Monday for Game 1 of the 3-game series. They aim to bounce back and win the series ahead of the debut on Thursday for Misiorowski.

Hunter Dobbins made false claims about dad's career with Yankees, Andy Pettitte friendship
In explaining why he would never play for the Yankees, Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbins was quoted as saying that his father was twice drafted by the team, signed after the second selection and was traded to the Diamondbacks. But there appears no verification that any of that happened. In a Boston Herald story posted on Sunday before Dobbins made his first start ever against the Yankees, the 25-year-old right-hander was quoted as saying, 'If the Yankees were the last team to give me a contract, I'd retire.' He said that began with his father being a 'diehard Red Sox fan.' But also within that story, The Herald quoted Hunter Dobbins as saying, 'He was actually drafted twice by the Yankees. Signed with them his last year and then he got traded over to the Diamondbacks.' Advertisement Dobbins' father, Lance, does not come up as a Yankee draft pick in any search of the team's selections on Baseball Reference from any single season. Yankees GM Brian Cashman, who has been with the organization since the late 1980s, has no recollection of the Yankees drafting Lance Dobbins and said a check with the Yankees amateur department revealed no drafting of a Lance Dobbins.
