Where will Will Johnson be drafted? Michigan CB's 2025 NFL Draft projections
In one day from now, former Michigan football cornerback Will Johnson's childhood dream of playing in the NFL is expected to come to fruition.
But which team will select him in the 2025 NFL Draft?
That's the top question for Johnson, who is considered one of the top cornerbacks and overall prospects in this year's draft class according to ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and other NFL draft analysts.

As noted by USA TODAY's Nick Brinkerhoff, the reason why Johnson's landing spot in the NFL draft remains up in the air this late in the game is due to his injuries and lack of participation in pre-draft workouts, such as the 40-yard dash.
With that, here's what you need to know about where Johnson is projected to go in the 2025 NFL Draft, along with which NFL team he best fits with along with a scouting report:

Where will Michigan's Will Johnson go in 2025 NFL Draft?
Here's where NFL draft analysts have Johnson going in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft:
USA TODAY Sports Network Live Mock Draft: Round 1, No. 13 overall to the Miami Dolphins
"The Dolphins need a cornerback to replace Jalen Ramsey, who they plan to trade. Miami is thrilled to have a choice here between Johnson and Jahdae Barron of Texas. Miami will look to guard or defensive tackle in Rounds 2 and 3. But corner is their top need. And Miami hopes Johnson can have a Xavien Howard-type career – Joe Schad, Palm Beach Post"
"Cornerback hasn't been an area at which San Francisco has allotted significant draft capital during the John Lynch era. But as the prototype for the position at 6-2 and 194 pounds with superlative ball skills, Johnson could provide a substantial payoff if the 49ers are willing to deviate from their habits."
"There's well-documented roster turnover in San Francisco right now, and Charvarius Ward is among the departures. Renardo Green has one of the outside starting spots, but what will the 49ers do at the other? Could slot guy Deommodore Lenoir move outside? Will new signee Tre Brown earn the role (and stay healthy)? Or could this be a golden chance to land a potential shutdown CB1 in Johnson?

"Johnson missed time last season with a toe injury, and he slid from the top five to No. 12 overall on my Big Board. But the talent is undeniable."
"Johnson is one of the 10 best players in this class, as his excellent ball skills, instincts and 6-foot-2 size all stand out. The Dolphins have a hole opposite Jalen Ramsey, making cornerback a pressing need. And yes, Miami must also address the offensive line, but it can do so on Day 2."

"I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson go as high as No. 11 to the 49ers, but he might still be on the board in the 20s. He declined to run the 40-yard dash at his pro day and the medicals will be a factor for several teams, but the tape shows a really good football player."
"Despite not running a pre-draft 40-yard dash, Johnson still feels like a top-10 talent in this class to me. He'd bring some much-needed playmaking ability to the back end of Todd Bowles' defense."
Will Johnson scouting report
Here's a scouting report and NFL comparison on Johnson from USA TODAY's Ayrton Ostly:

Scouting report:
"Johnson's 2023 tape was outstanding and project as an ideal outside cornerback in the NFL with a mix of athleticism, ball skills and technique. He dropped off in 2024 before a season-ending injury."
NFL comparison: Jaycee Horn, James Bradberry
"Johnson's built similarly to both but with slightly shorter arms. His eye discipline is reminiscent to Horn and his ball production is similar to what Bradberry did at Samford."

Will Johnson's best 2025 NFL Draft fit
Here's what USA TODAY's Tyler Dragon said is the best fit for Johnson in the 2025 NFL Draft:
"The Raiders need to improve their depth at cornerback. They recently cut Jack Jones after a down year in Las Vegas. The Raiders gave up 29 touchdown receptions and allowed a 96.5 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks; both marks ranked near the bottom of the league.
"New Raiders coach Pete Carroll is accustomed to big and physical corners. He helped architect the 'Legion of Boom' in Seattle. Johnson is a 6-foot-2 corner whose play style matches his size. He set a Michigan record with three interceptions returned for touchdowns in his career."
The projection: Las Vegas Raiders

Steelers Could Make Huge Splash With Former Aaron Rodgers Teammate
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to be a legitimate contender during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. With Aaron Rodgers now onboard, there are major expectations for the team this year. Now that Rodgers has signed with the Steelers, the team should go all-in on winning this season. He's on a one-year deal, which could mean that the team has a one-year window to win a championship. Keeping that in mind, there is a new potential move that has come available for Pittsburgh to make a big splash to improve their chances of contending for a Super Bowl. Read more: Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Has Chance at Massive NFL Milestone Jacob Camenker of USA Today has named Pittsburgh as one of the top potential landing spots for recently released and former Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander. "The Steelers are loading up for a potential Super Bowl run after signing Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal. Could they target Alexander, his former teammate, to help provide depth and talent at cornerback?" Camenker wrote. "Pittsburgh already added two veteran corners to its roster during the offseason in Darius Slay and Brandin Echols, but at this stage in his career, Alexander is better than both. The Steelers could consider signing him and having him split playing time with the 34-year-old Slay to keep both healthy long-term." Alexander has had injury issues that have derailed his career. He has played in just seven games in each of the last two seasons. However, the numbers that he produced in just seven games last season show the amount of talent that he possesses. He racked up 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes. Read more: Bills Attempted to Pull Off Major Trade With Packers: Report Taking a low-risk, potentially sky high reward on Alexander would be well worth it for the Steelers. At the very worst, the team could just move on from him following the 2025 season. Should things work out, Alexander would take the Pittsburgh defense to the next level. His playmaking would be a welcome addition, and his sticky coverage would be valuable in an AFC North division with high-powered offenses. It may not be something the Steelers are interested in, but Alexander would make a lot of sense as a late offseason target. For more Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

WATCH: Former Ohio State player throws out first pitch at Detroit Tigers game
Now that the NFL draft is over and the first-timers that were selected have gone through rookie minicamp, the entire rosters of NFL teams can get on with the status quo of starting to get other camping opportunities underway, all leading up to fall camp and the start of the season. Former Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams was one of the 14 Ohio State football players taken in this year's draft, and he landed in an uncomfortable spot if you will, up in Michigan with the Detroit Lions when they selected him with the No. 28 pick in the first round. He isn't the first -- nor will he be the last -- former Buckeye to play his professional ball at TSUN (Chris Spielman anyone), but he'll have to make a good impression or perhaps face the wrath of those who loved to root against him in college. Advertisement One way to do that is to make the rounds in the community, and Williams was doing just that over this past weekend by not only attending a Detroit Tigers baseball game but by throwing out the first pitch. It wasn't a seed thrown to the plate, but rather a smooth and soft delivery that at least won't get any viral moments, though it was a bit high. If you haven't seen Williams' first pitch against the Cubs on Sunday, get a look here thanks to the Detroit Tigers' "X" (formerly Twitter) account. There are several former Buckeyes getting comfortable in their new environments and cities in the NFL, and as more of these moments are made available, we'll continue to bring them to you. Rams named potential landing spot for recently-released star CB
Rams named potential landing spot for recently-released star CB The Los Angeles Rams didn't make many changes to their secondary and could be looking to add a veteran ahead of the 2025 NFL season. While most eyes are on the Miami Dolphins and one-time ex-Rams star Jalen Ramsey, there is another name out there who could be on the Rams' radar: Jaire Alexander. The Green Bay Packers recently released the two-time Pro Bowler after seven seasons when they couldn't find a trade partner or agree to a new contract. In the wake of this news, Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema named the Rams as a potential landing spot for Alexander for the same reasons as Ramsey: They need star power in the secondary. "The Rams surprisingly didn't make any changes at cornerback this offseason," Sikkema wrote. "Darious Williams (865), Cobie Durant (843) and Ahkello Witherspoon (598) played the most snaps at cornerback for the team last season, but none earned a PFF coverage grade above 62.0. "Alexander is the kind of veteran whom Los Angeles has been interested in before. The team traded for fellow star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in 2019, which proved a worthwhile addition. A move for Alexander wouldn't be as big of a splash, but it would be in the Rams' wheelhouse." The pros and cons of adding Alexander are obvious: He's elite when he's healthy, but he's expensive and recently very injury-prone. Alexander is only 28 but played just 14 games over the past two seasons. He tallied 10 interceptions in his first five seasons but just one in his past two. If the Rams add him, it will likely be for less than he could get elsewhere. But if he wants to chase a ring, the Rams offer a path to that possibility.
