In the lead-up to the Miami Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton revealed the message he had delivered to Max Verstappen regarding his soon-to-be-born child.
Verstappen missed media day on Thursday at the Miami Grand Prix due to the birth of his first child.
Due to Max and his partner Kelly Piquet requesting privacy regarding their child, little is known about when the baby is expected, nor is there information on the gender.
Red Bull Racing released a statement regarding his absence:
"Max will not be attending media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby," the statement read.
"All is well, and he will attend [the] track tomorrow for the race weekend. We will not be offering any further comment at this time in respect towards the privacy of Max and his family."
However, Hamilton was present on one media day and asked if the new baby would distract the driver, to which Hamilton refused to answer.
The seven-time World Champion offered details regarding a conversation Hamilton had with Verstappen.
"So I spoke to him briefly in Saudi and saw how excited he was, and big congrats to him," Hamilton said to the media.
"I just wish him all the best. It's an amazing, such a special thing."

Race winner and 2021 F1 World Drivers Champion Max Verstappen of Netherlands and Red Bull Racing is congratulated by runner up in the race and championship Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Mercedes GP during the F1 Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi at Yas Marina Circuit on December 12, 2021 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The 2021 season was marked by several controversial decisions by the FIA, including inconsistent application of rules and penalties, which added to the drama and debate among fans and pundits. MoreWith the arrival of his newborn, Verstappen would become the second father in Formula 1, with Nico Hulkenberg being the only other father actively on the grid.
Hulkenberg dismissed the notion that having a child affects a racing driver's performance out on track.
"Everyone is obviously different, but personally, I don't feel that's the case," Hulkenberg said, according to Planet F1's Elizabeth Blackstock.
"I feel once we step in the car – visor down, go out – even for me, I tend to forget what goes on outside because we're just so focused and so driven to perform and maximize.
"I just personally feel it's added benefit because it's giving me so much outside of work and outside of being in Formula 1. So I would even say it's kind of been helpful for me, if anything."
Verstappen is still expected to participate in the Miami GP. He will look to take his second win of the season after nearly missing out on victory last time out in Saudi Arabia.
The Red Bull RB21 remains a confusing car, as it has been all over the place regarding its pace, at times being the fourth fastest car and other times being the outright fastest.

How to Plan Your First Trip to a Formula One Race, According to a Travel Advisor

Formula 1 has rapidly grown in popularity in the U.S. in recent years, but attending one of these high-profile races is still a relatively new consideration for most Americans. And as each race takes over its host city for multiple days, planning your trip can quickly turn into an overwhelming experience. As a travel advisor with experience curating Grand Prix weekends for clients, I've developed a few strategies to make sure your F1 weekend is all green lights. The Grand Prix track and harbor in Monte Carlo, Monaco. A Formula 1 race isn't just about the race on Sunday—it's a multi-day event that includes practice on Friday and qualifying races on Saturday, as well as tangential events. There are several phases that add context to the big race, and can make the whole experience even more thrilling. For example, certain tracks, like those in Monaco and Singapore, are filled with narrow streets on which overtaking (when a driver passes another driver) is difficult, so a driver's qualifying performance—which establishes their starting position—is extremely important. But if your interest is more casual or you're folding the race into a larger itinerary, you may opt for race day only. Each city that hosts a Formula One race brings its own personality to the event. Monaco, for example, is pure spectacle: mega yachts, private terraces, and top-tier people-watching. It's about the scene as much as the sport. Belgium's Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, on the other hand, winds through farmlands and forest. It's a historic track that is best experienced with a guide by your side. One great hotel in the area to stay at is the Van der Valk Hotel Verviers. An alternative option for attendees is camping for the weekend. The Dutch Grand Prix is located in Zandvoort, Netherlands, a beachside location with plenty to do in the surrounding area. No matter which F1 race you are interested in, it's easy to find one that is personally interesting, whether it's for the social scene, track history, or unique traditions. Street market in Italy filled with racing souvenirs. Many F1 teams offer hospitality packages with pit-lane walks, team meet-and-greets, and insider access. The first time my family attended Zandvoort, our chosen experience included visiting the garages, meeting some of the drivers, and a personal ride to the track. Another option is the Paddock Club, a VIP program offered by F1 that typically includes private track access, fast-track entry, and dedicated hospitality lanes. Having attended logistically challenging races like Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Beligum, I can tell you that personalized services like this make a big difference. Singapore during F1 outside of major cities, like Monza in Italy or Suzuka in Japan, may require private drivers or heli-charters to avoid race-day headaches. At races where the track is close to an urban center—like Montreal, Singapore, or Zandvoort—you could feasibly hire a local driver or take public transportation to the gates. A travel advisor will take care of these logistics for you, but if you're mapping out your own trip, make sure your transportation is planned beforehand. Then you'll be free to tune into the spectacle around you, the strategy of each pit stop, and the sounds of engines that define one of the world's most thrilling traveling circuses. LIV Golf Doubles Down, Reportedly Will Award Record-Breaking Purses In 2026

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The LIV Golf tour has been in the news from Day 1 due to its substantial financial resources. It has flexed that muscle several times in player recruitment and, above all, in its sizable purses. The trend doesn't seem likely to change much. A Sports Business Journal report states that the Saudi-backed league is prepared to increase its tournament purses by 20% for the next season. This means going from the current $25 million to $30 million. Such a figure would break all professional golf records for high purses. Until now, LIV Golf tournaments were tied for first place with the Players Championship at $25 million. However, the PGA Tour's flagship event had an advantage over LIV Golf because its purse is entirely dedicated to an individual tournament, while LIV events currently allocate $20 million to that format, with $5 million as prize money for the top three teams. A flag with the LIV Golf logo is seen prior day three of the LIV Golf Invitational - Mayakoba at El Camaleon at Mayakoba on February 26, 2023 in Playa del Carmen, second-highest purse for individual tournaments in the 2025 season was the US Open at $21.5 million, closely followed by the Masters Tournament at $21 million. The 14 individual tournaments on LIV tied for fourth place with the eight PGA Tour Signature Events, which also had $20 million purses each. But the fact is that no current professional golf event reaches a purse of $30 million, as LIV events will in 2026, according to the Sports Business Journal report. So far, there is no information available about how the LIV Golf purse distribution will be once the purses are increased. Currently, the individual events distribute its purse in the usual way in professional golf, with $4 million going to the winner and the last-place player receiving $50,000. The team event allocates $3 million to the winning team, $1.5 million to the runner-up, and $500,000 to the third-place finish. Teams in fourth through 13th place receive no prize money. Recently, The Telegraph reported that LIV Golf will suspend its practice of paying player fines imposed by the DP World Tour, effective after the Ryder Cup. The league is estimated to have spent about $20.3 million on this issue so far, with an additional $13 million to be added for the Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton cases.
