DoJ drops charges against Utah doctor accused of destroying Covid vaccines
Pam Bondi, the US attorney general, announced the news in a statement on the social media platform X, saying the charges had been dismissed under her direction.
'Dr Moore gave his patients a choice when the federal government refused to do so,' Bondi said. 'He did not deserve the years in prison he was facing.'
According to a 2023 press release from the US attorney's office in Utah, Moore distributed at least 1,937 fraudulent vaccination record cards in exchange for either direct payment or required donations to a specific charity. The minors he gave saline shots to were under the impression, at the request of their parents, that they were receiving a Covid-19 shot. Moore ran the operations from a plastic surgery center in Midvale, Utah, and was charged, along with three other co-defendants, with conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Far-right congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene thanked Bondi in a statement on X and called Moore a 'hero who refused to inject his patients with a government-mandated unsafe vaccine'.
The Utah senator Mike Lee also weighed in, saying on X that he was glad Moore could remain a free man and that countless Americans endured lies and lockdowns during the pandemic.
Moore was indicted by the justice department in 2023. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, which also included conspiracy to convert, sell, convey and dispose of government property, and the conversion, sale, conveyance, and disposal of government property.
The fake vaccination records were sold under Moore's scheme for $50 each, and operations allegedly ran between May 2021 and September 2022. Attorneys for Moore argued that the regulations set at the time by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were unconstitutional.
The charges against Moore were brought in when Biden was president, but Covid-19 conspiracists and skeptics have been embraced in the new administration under Trump.
Recently, the Trump administration canceled a $766m award to Moderna on the research and development of H5N1 bird flu vaccines, and officials announced new restrictions and regulations for Covid mRNA vaccines.
The US health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, who has for decades baselessly sowed doubt about vaccine safety, contrary to scientific research, thanked Moore in a statement on X back in April.
'Dr Moore deserves a medal for his courage and his commitment to healing,' Kennedy Jr said.

WASHINGTON, July 13 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Sunday he spoke to deputy FBI director Dan Bongino to try to calm an uproar over how the Justice Department handled the probe into the death of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his alleged clientele. Asked by reporters if Bongino remained in his position after reportedly pondering resigning, Trump said: "Oh I think so... I spoke to him today. Dan Bongino, very good guy. I've known him a long time. I've done his show many, many times. He sounded terrific, actually." Bongino represents a part of Trump's "Make America Great Again" base of support that has long been suspicious of Epstein, whose 2019 death in federal custody has been ruled a suicide. In a joint memo released last Monday, the FBI and the Justice Department said there was no evidence to support a number of long-held conspiracy theories about Epstein's death and his alleged clientele. Conservative influencers from Laura Loomer to Elon Musk have criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel for their findings, which came months after Bondi pledged to reveal major revelations about Epstein, including "a lot of names" and "a lot of flight logs." U.S. media, including Fox News and NBC News, have reported that Bongino has clashed with Bondi over the issue and was considering stepping down. Patel and Bongino, a former conservative podcaster, both previously made statements before working at the FBI about a so-called client list and often suggested that the government was hiding information about Epstein from the American public.

When a group of MAGA 'influencers' marched out of the Oval Office holding up white binders filled with the 'Epstein files', Donald Trump 's base immediately sensed something was off. Fast-forward to five months later and Donald Trump's cabinet is cracking wide open with FBI chiefs Dan Bongino and Kash Patel threatening to resign unless Attorney General Pam Bondi is fired. The biggest names in MAGA media - Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly and Steve Bannon - have sounded their colossal mega horns over the escalating crisis. Now ugly fractures are emerging and dirty secrets are being leaked across Washington DC. In the twisted web of Epstein conspiracy theories, heated anti-Israel rhetoric has emerged at a time when Trump is already facing criticism over supporting Benjamin Netanyahu 's bombing campaign. MAGA lawmakers like, like Marjorie Taylor Greene, has been accused of anti-Semitism, while former Fox host Carlson is facing claims that he is taking money from the Qatari government. Greene and Carlson vehemently deny the allegations. At the end of February, the White House invited a cadre of conservative influencers for a visit, and presented them with big white binders which purportedly contained the oft-touted 'Epstein files'. The photo-op was led by Bondi in the Oval Office and she later assured the public that her Department of Justice had the dossiers which were being reviewed for release. But it soon turned out that there was nothing at all substantive in the white folders handed to the influencers - and the debacle became known as 'binder gate.' Bondi last week was forced to retract her statement that the files were 'sitting on my desk' and instead told the American people that there was, in fact, no 'client list'. The DOJ released a video showing the outside of Epstein's cell at the Manhattan jail where he allegedly hung himself. But Trump's MAGA base is still fuming that the Epstein Files have not been entirely released to the public. Former Fox News personality turned independent journalist Tucker Carlson is one the biggest voices sowing division in Trump's MAGA-right. During a speech at Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit this weekend, Carlson went after the Trump admin for the alleged Epstein 'cover-up.' Conservative internet personality Arynne Wexler told the Daily Mail that if you listen to Carlson's latest speech at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit, 'he's like the narcissistic, toxic ex-boyfriend, where nothing's ever good enough and the goalpost is ever moving and you can never reach it. 'He's complaining that Trump hasn't done enough.' Wexler also added that Carlson 'even insulted Riley Gaines, talking about how men on women's sports teams don't matter.' 'I mean, there was really nothing about what he said that sounded conservative or like of the right', Wexler concluded. Conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly, a one-time Trump enemy turned ally during the 2024 election wrote on X that she was 'sure it's a relief for Pam Bondi to hear the president is still in her corner. War Room podcast host and a former White House strategist from Trump's first term Steve Bannon noted in his own speech at the Turning Point USA Summit that in his view, 'Epstein is a key that picks the lock on so many things, not just individuals, but also Institutions, Intelligence, Institutions, Foreign Governments, and who was working with him on our Intelligence Apparatus and in our Government.' Foreign influence in America's government and politics is something that has been questioned on both the left and right. But, some of the biggest characters who point fingers at others have the biggest questions about their own backers. During Carlson's Turning Point speech, he made claims that both Epstein and long-term Democrat donor turned Trump 2024 backer Bill Ackman only gained prominence, and in turn wealth, due to secret ties to the Israeli government. Ackman notably promptly refuted Carlson's claims, additionally stating on X that although he used to enjoy Carlson's Fox show, now the media mogul 'has gone off the reservation, in particular about Iran, Israel, and the Middle East.' 'Some say his politics relate to where his business' funding comes from and some say he just doesn't like Jews. I have no idea what motivates him and why he appears to be a changed man.' Ackman added. Carlson addressed allegations that he was being funded by Qatar in a recent episode of his show, stating that 'for the record, of course, I've never taken a dollar from anybody. I don't even have investors.' In 2023, the Daily Mail reported that Carlson's independent media venture was backed to the tune of $15 million by Omeed Malik, an American citizen with an Iranian mother and Pakistani father. Within Trump's own administration, characters loyal to the MAGA base are not afraid to point fingers at their own colleagues. A Gold Coast woman has been ordered to repay her former friend $6,000 after telling her she needed money for cancer treatment and blaming food poisoning when she failed to return the cash. Mum-of-three and former WAG Tiffany Black, 36, was sentenced to a 15-month intensive corrections order - served in the community - on Wednesday in Tweed Heads Local Court after swindling 13 victims. Ms Black is married to former Wests Tigers player Benjamin Black, who is not accused of any wrongdoing. She scammed a total of 13 people out of $9,550 including $6,000 from a former friend, reported Ms Black told her friend she needed a loan to help pay for 'cancer treatment' and promised to pay it back after receiving a 'payout' from her insurer. 'I've got a massive favour to ask but I really don't want anyone knowing I'm asking and I'm so sorry for asking, I'm just desperate,' she wrote in a text. 'I can book in for surgery on (sic) Gold Coast but I'm $6000 short. I get an insurance payout next week and can pay back then. Do you have anything I could lend til next week? I'm so sorry for asking, it's so humiliating, I just feel stuck.' The next week, she told her former friend she had sent back the money but had accidentally put in the wrong account number. Ms Black told her former friend she needed to borrow $6,000 for 'cancer treatment' and then failed to return the money, saying among other things that she had some 'bad oysters' She said she was 'waiting for meds' and then would re-send the cash. Her friend never received a payment and Ms Black has since been ordered by a court to pay back the $6,000. Ms Black pleaded guilty to scamming 13 people in 2023 and 2024 and must pay back all of her victims. Her intensive corrections order expires on October 8, 2026 and includes standard conditions such as she must not offend, will be under supervision and cannot take drugs. Ms Black's 12 other victims were scammed using Facebook Marketplace, where the mum told people she was selling a Dyson Airwrap. Once payment had been sent and the hairstyling tool didn't arrive, Ms Black would blame a variety of factors. In one case, she told Sydney woman Mikaela Larkin she had already posted the hairdryer before blaming her 'smashed phone' for the delay in communication. She said she was unable to send a tracking number because she was using her daughter's iPad and travelling. It's understood Ms Black then blocked Ms Larkin. The con-woman was told police she was 'hacked', according to court documents. 'When asked about informing police of the numerous transactions that have been credited to her account, the accused stated she had tried to report it but there is no evidence of this,' the police facts state.
