Almeria: Dion Lopy opens his scoring account for the season
Dion Lopy kicked off his third season with UD Almeria in spectacular fashion. The Senegalese defensive midfielder found the back of the net during a thrilling, action-packed match against Albacete (4-4) on Monday evening, as part of the opening round of Liga Adelante.
Dion Lopy makes a strong start to his season with Almeria
The score was tied at one apiece when the 23-year-old put his side ahead in the 51st minute. This was only his second goal in 74 appearances for the Spanish club, having found the net just once last season.
It's an encouraging start for the Senegal international (5 goals) who is targeting a return to La Liga with Almeria after narrowly missing out on promotion at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign.
It's worth noting that Almeria escaped defeat thanks to an equalizer from Léo Baptistao deep into stoppage time (90+10'). Their next fixture is set against Cultural Leonesa on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Julián Alvarez's entourage believe he ‘made a mistake' joining Atlético Madrid
Something of a bombshell update on the situation surrounding Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez at present has come to the fore on Wednesday. This comes amid claims that those closest to the Argentine international are of the opinion that he made the wrong call in penning terms at the Metropolitano. Frontman Alvarez of course made the move to Atlético in the summer of 2024, after the Rojiblancos agreed to meet the hefty valuation laid out by Manchester City for their attacking star. The 25-year-old went on to enjoy an impressive debut campaign in Rojiblancos colours, to the tune of 29 goals and eight assists across all competitions. Atlético, however, endured a largely underwhelming season as a collective. And with Diego Simeone's troops fresh off an opening day La Liga defeat this past weekend, too, it would appear that cracks are beginning to appear behind the scenes in Alvarez's representative group. As per a report from journalist Matias Palacios, speaking during an appearance on El Chiringuito TV: 'Julián Alvarez's entourage believes he made a mistake by signing with Cholo's team.' NY Giants' Cam Skattebo might play in final preseason game: What to know
Former Arizona State star running back Cam Skattebo could suit up for the New York Giants' preseason finale, Thursday, Aug. 21, and is now more likely to play in Week 1. The do-everything standout for last season's Big 12 champion Sun Devils was cleared to return to practice for the Giants on Tuesday, Aug. 19, Giants coach Brian Daboll told reporters, and reports indicate things are looking good. Skattebo, whose nagging hamstring injury caused him to miss several practices and the Giants' first two preseason games, sits at No. 3 on the running back depth chart. Skattebo was "on the field (Tuesday, Aug. 19) and was involved in team drills." Cam Skattebo's status changes: New York Giants practice update When will Cam Skattebo play? Skattebo's return to practice ahead of the team's preseason finale Thursday, Aug. 21, against the New England Patriots indicates he has a chance to start the season on time, Sept. 7 at the Washington Commanders. He also could play in the preseason game that kicks off at 5 p.m. MST (8 p.m. Eastern). The Skattebo health trending is looking up, according to a report after Tuesday practice from the Giants. Art Stapleton, Giants beat writer for said Skattebo "did more today in team drills than either Andrew Thomas or Malik Nabers. That's not a bad thing for AT or Nabers, just a good thing worth noting for Skattebo and the Giants." Running backs Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary are listed ahead of Skattebo. 'Better than advertised': Cam Skattebo turns heads at Giants training camp Is Cam Skattebo playing against the Patriots? Skattebo, a fourth-round pick by the Giants, has missed much of training camp. Daboll indicated before the Aug. 19 practice that Skattebo's participation could be limited, but it was encouraging news nonetheless for a player expected to receive a healthy dose of touches this season. The Giants will consider resting Skattebo for their final preseason game, Thursday, Aug. 21, at home against the New England Patriots but Stapleton, during his podcast published Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, said, "It would not shock me to see him make a cameo" in the preseason finale. "I'm not talking a full load, but maybe a couple snaps," Stapleton said. "... He was running yesterday and it did not look like he was encumbered in any way." There had been concerns that Skattebo's hamstring issue could result in him being placed on injured reserve after final roster cutdowns on Aug. 26. Such a move would require Skattebo to miss the first four weeks of the regular season. Placing him on IR before the squad is trimmed to 53 would force him to miss the entire 2025 season. That concern has been dramatically altered, however, with the news that Skattebo returned to practice and reportedly performed well. Skattebo set the Arizona State single-season record last year with 1,711 yards. He also scored 21 touchdowns, became the first player in school history to amass 2,000 or more yards from scrimmage in a single season and finished fifth in balloting for the Heisman Trophy. Manchester United Are Ready To Step Up Their Efforts To Land This Sevilla Talent: Good Option For Amorim?
In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Manchester United are ready to step up their efforts to land Sevilla talent Lucien Agoume this summer. It has been stated that the Red Devils are determined to recruit the French midfielder in this transfer period. Agoume's Impressive Rise In Spanish Football Agoume enjoyed a solid season at the Andalusian club recently as he managed to impress at times with his performances at the centre of their midfield. The French midfield ace made 37 appearances for Sevilla in the previous campaign, scoring one goal and securing three assists in various competitions. The 23-year-old anchored the midfield well for the Spanish club after he made 70 tackles, 30 blocks, and 41 interceptions in La Liga. He even distributed possession relatively well from midfield, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 79% in the Spanish top tier (stats via His current contract at Sevilla will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap in this transfer window. SEVILLE, SPAIN – MAY 18: Joaquin Caparros, Head Coach of Sevilla FC, shakes hands with Lucien Agoume after the LaLiga match between Sevilla FC and Real Madrid CF at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on May 18, 2025 in Seville, Spain. (Photo by) Will Agoume Be A Good Option For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim? Agoume is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well. The French sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to bring him on board this summer. Agoume would no doubt enhance the quality of Man United boss Ruben Amorim's midfield in the long run. He is good enough to serve as a long-term successor to Casemiro at the Mancunian club. At 23, Agoume has got a bright future ahead of him, which makes him an excellent option for Man United to consider before the end of this transfer window. However, Amorim has to give him some time to adjust to life at Old Trafford before he can get the best out of the French midfielder.
