DJ AG drops Misfits boxing hint after Derek Chisora meeting
Social media and TikTok sensation DJ AG has hinted at a potential move to the Misfits boxing ring
DJ AG - also known as Ashley Gordon - can often be heard before he is seen, playing music from his decks in the middle of the street in London. The rather bizarre set up has landed Gordon more than a million followers on TikTok and the honour of being named Time Out's Londoner of the Year.
He tends to invite people off the street to perform with him and has even handed the microphone to stars like Idris Elba, Skepta, Jorja Smith, JME and Will Smith. Despite building up quite the following on social media, it seems as if he is eager for a change in profession.
Gordon recently teamed up with heavyweight veteran Derek Chisora and was seen enjoying himself in the ring before stating he was ready for Misfits. Over the past few years, the famous boxing promotion has signed several big names in the world of social media.
In a recent story uploaded to Chisora's Instagram, both he and AG were heading down a stairway to the ring. A starstruck Gordon said: "Oi, that ring looks sick! That ring looks cold!" AG then turned to Chisora and uttered: "I know you have got boxing rings, bro!" An energetic Chisora then initiated mind games with the social media star, downplaying a potential sparring session, stating: "I know you do not want the smoke, bro!"
AG then dropped a major bombshell, saying: "I am ready for Misfits!" Before Gordon entered the ring, he envisioned himself being introduced to the ring, saying: "Introducing, DJ AG! And the crowd go rah!" Gordon can be seen spending the rest of the video doing some sharp movements as well as some brief shadow-boxing.
Despite making a name for himself in the world of TikTok, things were not so easy when he first started. 'I had eggs thrown at me, water thrown at me, I was heckled, it was tough. But I think that's because people didn't understand what I was doing, they thought it was a joke,' he told The Mirror at TikTok Live Fest.
This didn't stop Gordon, however. He added: 'I'm quite fearless and I think a lot of that comes from working in sales which is quite a tough environment and coming from Tottenham which is tough as well, so how bad could it be being outside.' It was his children who suggested he try out TikTok in 2022, but the now-39-year-old said it was an app for kids and 'they don't want to listen to what I've got to say'. He continued: 'But I tried it one day and realised there were people my age on TikTok and the rest is history'. He was particularly inspired by DJ SUAT, the roaming YouTube performer.
Gordon admitted that if the gamble did not pay off, he would have gone back to his day job. Fortunately, he has not had to go back to a traditional job and has now performed with a range of stars on the street. Idris Elba, he said, was an 'amazing man'. He added: 'For someone that has achieved so much in his life and given so much to still be so humble, so down to earth, having that willingness to help. It's great to meet people that are like that.'

Taylor Swift obliterates Trump and Joe Rogan's podcast ratings
The most anticipated sports podcast episode in history ended up giving the world's biggest pop star bragging rights over the President of the United States. Wednesday night saw a special release of the 'New Heights' podcast where co-host and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce brought on his pop superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift . Teasers leading up to the episode revealed that Swift would be unveiling the cover and release date for her highly-anticipated 12th album, 'The Life of a Showgirl'. Swifties flocked in droves to listen to the episode live - breaking the record for the most-watched live-streamed podcast in YouTube's history at 1.3 million viewers. It shattered the previous mark - held by 'The Joe Rogan Experience' when the eponymous host brought on then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump . Not only that, but the New Heights YouTube channel saw a spike in subscriber numbers. The channel began at 2.85 million subs before the episode began. At the time of publishing, the subscriber count sits at 2.97 million. While it did break the live-viewership record, it still has some ways to go to catch up to the 24-hour viewer count that the Trump episode of Rogan had. In the first 24-hours of that episode, Rogan's channel had 26 million views. At the time of publishing, the YouTube video of the New Heights show has 9.5 million in the first 14 hours (with 6 million views coming in the first five hours). But breaking one record held by Trump is sure to be a feather in Swift's cap after she endorsed Democrat nominee and former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Trump has gone on the offensive against Swift in the past, calling her 'no longer hot' after the endorsement of Harris and mocking her for being booed at Super Bowl LIX. Not only does this two-hour conversation mark a major moment for the show, it also is a perfect full-circle moment for Travis and Taylor. Travis previously mentioned in July 2023 how he'd like to have Swift on the show and how he tried giving her a friendship bracelet at a concert in Kansas City, but that he wasn't able to meet her. Cut to now. Travis and Taylor have been the definitive storyline in the NFL over the last two years, with the sport seeing a massive spike in female audience in that time. On the episode, Swift mentioned how important that July 2023 episode was to their eventual meeting. 'This kind of felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie,' Swift said. 'He was just like standing outside of my window with a boom box just being like, "I want to date you. Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet. Do you want to date me?"' She continued, 'This is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.' Kelce added, 'And I was sitting there at the Eras tour listening to every single one of those songs, like, I know what she wants me to do!' He continued, 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' while Swift said her man is 'a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in. He's like a human exclamation point.' Swift's album announcement was the biggest draw for the show - with the 'Cruel Summer' singer confirming the October 3 release for 'The Life of a Showgirl'. She added that there will not be any extra songs on the album - which is being produced by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin and his collaborator Shellback. The pair helped make some of Swift's biggest hits - including 'Style', 'Shake It Off' and 'Blank Space' of her multi-Grammy winning 2014 album '1989'. Unlike previous albums, Swift said there would not be any hidden tracks for 'Showgirl'. However, fans are sure to be entertained - with the tracklist released and revealing that fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter will feature on the title track.

Final Fantasy fans have been saying character's name wrong for over two decades
Final Fantasy fans have been left baffled after realising they've been saying one of the main characters' names incorrectly for over two decades Final Fantasy is one of the most successful video game franchises in history, boasting a staggering 16 numbered entries in the main series along with a plethora of spin-off games, films, anime, manga, and novels. Predominantly an anthology series, each main game presents a unique plot and centres on a distinct cast of characters, though several recurring elements maintain a connection between the Square Enix franchise entries. Given the sheer number of characters to remember, it's hardly surprising that even the most devoted fans have difficulty with some of them. Indeed, there's one character in particular that some Final Fantasy enthusiasts are only now realising they've been mispronouncing since his game was launched - more than two decades ago. Final Fantasy X, released in 2001, follows the protagonist Tidus as he embarks on an adventure with a summoner named Yuna and her guardians Wakka, Auron, Luna, Kimahri, and Rikku. However, at the beginning of the game, players can rename Tidus to any name they choose, meaning his default name is never spoken aloud by other characters. And now, 24 years after the release of Final Fantasy X, fans are just discovering they've been pronouncing it incorrectly. A TikTok video posted by a Final Fantasy enthusiast has revealed that Tidus' name should be pronounced "Tee-dus", despite countless fans spending over twenty years calling him "Tide-us". The content creator explained this stems from the original Japanese name meaning "sun", which clarifies why the character wields the Sun Sigil within the game. The fan said: "Did you know that the name of the lead protagonist in Final Fantasy X is pronounced 'Tee-dus'? In Katakana, it's pronounced 'Tee-da', which is Okinawan for sun. That's why he has the Sun Sigil. Because his name is Sun." However, it appears the clarification isn't quite so straightforward. The character appears in the Kingdom Hearts series, where other characters speak his name aloud, and they pronounce it in two contrasting ways. One viewer highlighted: "In Kingdom Hearts, Wakka pronounces it 'Tee-dus'. But in Kingdom Hearts II, Selphie pronounces it 'Tie-dus'." Another viewer alleged that in a video examining the 2013 remaster of Final Fantasy X, the game's creators confirmed they "never settled on an English pronunciation" of the name. Others declared they would simply refuse to stop calling him "Tide-us", as water plays such a prominent role in his narrative, connecting to the "tide" concept. They also maintain the alternative pronunciation simply "sounds better". One wrote: "I'll be deep in my cold grave before I recognise Teedus." Another stated: "I know this is true, but I choose to deny it, and no one can make me change." The discussion surrounding the correct pronunciation of Tidus' name has been reignited amidst whispers of a potential Final Fantasy X remake, following the triumph of the Final Fantasy VII remake. Although Square Enix has not officially announced a remake, speculation suggests that the game could be launched next year to mark the 25th anniversary of the original release.
