
Sharjah and Côte d'Ivoire discuss strengthening trade cooperation
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) received a high-level diplomatic delegation from Côte d'Ivoire to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations.
The discussions focused on exploring areas of joint action, facilitating reciprocal visits by businessmen and trade delegations from both sides, and promoting high-potential sectors to private enterprises. The meeting also emphasised creating a more integrated framework for investment opportunities and business partnerships between the two countries.
The meeting took place at SCCI's headquarters, where Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, welcomed Vacaba Diaby, Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to the UAE.
During the meeting, both sides outlined the outcomes of the Sharjah-Côte d'Ivoire Business Forum recently hosted by the Sharjah Chamber.
The discussions also highlighted the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Sharjah Chamber and the Côte d'Ivoire Chamber of Commerce in strengthening trade relations and boosting investments between the business communities of both countries.
The MoU also emphasises coordinated efforts in participating in trade shows, conferences, and forums hosted by both countries to maximise investment promotion prospects.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais noted that the meeting provides a valuable opportunity for both sides to develop strategic action plans and explore future opportunities to strengthen ties of cooperation and collaboration between Sharjah and Côte d'Ivoire.
Recognised as a key economic player in West Africa, Côte d'Ivoire boasts a strategic geographic location, a thriving investment environment, well-developed infrastructure, and sustained economic growth.
Al Owais highlighted the investment opportunities and competitive advantages that Sharjah offers, positioning it as an attractive destination for investors and foreign capital. With its business-friendly ecosystem and investor-centric policies, the emirate offers an optimal environment for fostering sustainable economic growth and seamless business operations. For their part, the Côte d'Ivoire delegation praised the robust ties between the two nations, emphasising their commitment to strengthening economic relations and enhancing trade exchange with Sharjah.
They also extended their gratitude to the Sharjah Chamber for its proactive role in facilitating business partnerships and its commitment to fostering closer collaboration with entrepreneurs and business leaders in Côte d'Ivoire.
Meanwhile the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), represented by the Sharjah Training and Development Centre (STDC), successfully concluded its official tour to France, the UK, and the Kingdom of Spain on Thursday.
STDC's delegation was headed by Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of the Support Services Sector at the Sharjah Chamber, and included Amal Abdullah Al Ali, Director of STDC, along with Dr Khaled Maqlad, Consultant for SMEs and Entrepreneurship Development at SCCI.
During the tour, STDC signed nine cooperation and strategic partnership agreements with prestigious universities, academic and training institutions, and prominent official entities across France, the UK, and Spain. Notable institutions involved include the Granada Chamber of Commerce's School of Management, Kellogg College at the University of Oxford, Cambridge Training College Britain, and London Strategy Centre (LSC).

Additionally, 1,355 ownership deeds were issued, making up 16.1 per cent of the total, reinforcing Sharjah's reputation for a well-regulated property transactions spanned 134 areas across Sharjah, covering residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural properties. Of these, 877 transactions involved land, 395 were for units in towers, and 302 were for built-in land deals. Sharjah City dominated with 1,426 sales transactions, led by Al-Metraq, which recorded 354 deals, followed by Muwailih Commercial with 258 and Tilal with 135. In terms of trading value, Muwailih Commercial topped the list at Dh352.2 million, followed by Tilal at Dh263.2 million, Al-Sajaa Industrial at Dh140.9 million, and Al-Metraq at Dh114.9 Sharjah City, the Central Region logged 97 sales transactions, with Industrial 1 leading at 17 deals and Al-Blida recording the highest trading value at Dh13.8 million. In Khor Fakkan, 26 transactions were recorded, with Al-Harai Industrial contributing five deals and Hay Hayawa 4 achieving a trading value of Dh3.6 million. Kalba City saw 24 transactions, with Al-Tarif 5 leading at seven deals and Al Soor 1 posting a trading value of Dh3.5 million. UAE flights: Air Arabia increases Sharjah-Maldives daily service
Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa's first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) operator, on Wednesday, June 11, announced the expansion of its existing service between Sharjah and Maldives to twice daily non-stop flights starting from October 27. The increase in frequency comes a year after the launch of the service between Sharjah International Airport and Velana International Airport in Malé, and will now offer passengers greater convenience and flexibility to explore the tropical paradise of the Maldives. "We are glad to further strengthen our presence in the Maldives with this increased frequency, offering travellers even greater connectivity and flexibility," Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, said. "The step to double our flights reflects the growing demand for air travel to this popular destination. We remain committed to providing our customers with reliable, affordable, and value-driven air travel, while expanding our network to meet the evolving needs of our passengers," Ali added.
