USA Todaya day ago

In less than three minutes, Ilia Topuria sent the MMA world into a frenzy.
Topuria (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) made history at UFC 317, becoming the first undefeated fighter to win titles in two divisions. He accomplished the feat by knocking out former champion Charles Oliveira (35-11 MMA, 23-11 UFC) in the first round of the main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and only needed 2:27 to do it.
As the promotion sometimes does after a significant, spectacular moment, UFC and its pay-per-view broadcast partner ESPN posted the full knockout finish for free on social media.

Angel Reese Admits to Being 'Terrible' Before Making WNBA History

Angel Reese Admits to Being 'Terrible' Before Making WNBA History originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For Angel Reese here in Year 2 of her WNBA career, this is what fans and observers have been waiting for. For much of the early part of the season, Reese was wayward and lacking in confidence in her shot, and while her rebounding remained an obvious strength, her inability to make shots was shaking her game elsewhere. Advertisement But on Sunday in a national television game in Los Angeles against the Sparks, with the Sky badly in need of a win, Reese had her best game of the year, scoring 24 points with 16 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Sky to a 92-85 win. Reese was 10-for-19 from the field in the game, marking the most field goals she has had in a game this season. More than that, she made WNBA history by logging 15-plus rebounds for the fourth straight game, the first player in league history to accomplish that feat. But after the win, in her walk-off interview with ESPN, Reese acknowledged that 2025 was a big-time struggle early on. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) waits for play to resume in the second quarter against the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center. Mandatory Credit: David Gonzales-Imagn Images "I always say to myself before every game, God doesn't give to me any storm that I can't handle," she said. "The first eight games, I played terrible and I wasn't coming up for my team. So I try to find other ways to come up for my team. I had seven assists today and that's the thing that matters to me. Getting the ball to my teammates because I know they are making shots and they did that tonight." Advertisement Reese averaged 10.1 points on 35.8% shooting in the first eight games. Her last four games have been a different story. She has averaged 17.3 points in those games, on 26-for-58 shooting (44.8%). She has also averaged 17.5 rebounds in those games. Most important the Sky got the win, even without star center Kamilla Cardoso, who left the team to play for Brazil for the coming week. Reserve Elizabeth Williams got her first start of the season in her place, and posted 12 points with nine rebounds, and a game-high plus-20 in the box score. "My biggest one is opportunity," Reese said when asked what she took from the win. "When opportunity comes, you maximize it. I think that everybody comes off the bench and steps up, and does it and executes--I mean, we miss Mill, we will be glad to have her back, but I think that we came in and we played really, really hard and we really wanted it." Bucs Rumor Suggests New Contract for All-Pro Antoine Winfield

Bucs Rumor Suggests New Contract for All-Pro Antoine Winfield originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Despite quarterback and head coach changes over the last few years, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have maintained their status as a playoff contender. Advertisement Their young talent on both sides of the field is a big reason for that. One of their brightest stars is safety Antoine Winfield Jr. The former All-Pro has built a reputation as one of the best safeties in the game today. Winfield may be coming off a down season, but he wants to bounce back significantly. Tampa Bay needs to be careful with Winfield, though. The Minnesota product is 26 years old and under team control for the next two seasons. But... ESPN has called the numbers behind those final two years one of the most "player-friendly" for a safety in the league. "Winfield is the league's second-highest paid safety by average annual salary, just slightly behind [Kerby] Joseph. But the rest of the deal is great for Winfield in comparison," Dan Graziano wrote. "Winfield got a $20 million roster bonus in 2024 and fully guaranteed salaries of $4 million in 2024 and $21 million in 2025. Advertisement "He's sure to make $45 million over the first two years of the deal and would make $64.5 million over the first three if he stays in Tampa Bay. It's strong money, given the rest of the safety market." Let's call this a rumor for now. But … Tampa Bay will likely seek to restructure Winfield's contract following the 2025 season. His $27 million cap hit, scheduled for both 2026 and 2027, will make the situation difficult. If they can get the kind of All-Pro play they used to get earlier in his career, the cap hits won't be a hindrance. Anything less, though and the Buccaneers will be stuck between a rock and a hard place with Winfield.
