Gauff splits with coach Daly ahead of U.S. Open
World number three Gauff will continue to work with longtime coach Jean-Christophe Faurel and has also brought biomechanics specialist Gavin MacMillan.
She was seen training on Wednesday at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York with both Faurel and MacMillan, who previously worked with world number one Aryna Sabalenka, helping her with her serve and forehand.
Gauff's own serve has been under scrutiny. She committed 42 double faults in just three matches at the Canadian Open earlier this month, part of a season-long pattern that has seen her rack up a tour-leading 320.
Under Daly and Faurel, Gauff enjoyed some of the best results of her career, including winning the WTA 1000 China Open, the WTA Finals, and this year's French Open. However, her recent form has dipped, with just four singles wins since Roland Garros and a first-round exit at Wimbledon.
The U.S. Open main draw begins Sunday, with 2023 champion Gauff set to appear in a Thursday night exhibition at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

NEW YORK, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Italians Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori retained their mixed doubles title at the U.S. Open on Wednesday, overcoming Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud 6-3 5-7 10-6 in the competition's reimagined format that drew some of the top singles players. The defending champions, who needed a wild card entry into the competition that prioritised singles rankings, relied on their veteran experience to outfox the Polish-Norwegian duo. The packed house at Arthur Ashe Stadium cheered wildly when Vavassori clinched it with a lethal forehand and hoisted Errani into the air in celebration, as the pair walked away with a $1 million prize. "We are doing something in these two years amazing," said Vavassori, who also won the French Open title with Errani earlier this year. "We showed today that doubles is a great product." Swiatek and Ruud had never played together before this year and at first appeared completely outmatched as the Italians went up 3-0 in the first set. Padres smack 4 homers to back JP Sears in win over Giants
August 21 - Gavin Sheets homered twice and JP Sears earned his first win with the San Diego Padres in their 8-1 rout of the visiting San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. Sears (8-10), making his second start with San Diego after being traded there along with closer Mason Miller at the trade deadline on July 31, gave up only four hits and a run in six innings. Sears walked one and fanned two. Landen Roupp (7-7) absorbed the loss and suffered an injury to boot. Roupp permitted five runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out two. He left the game in the bottom of the third after Ramon Laureano smoked a 95.7 mph liner off the back of his left knee. Sheets accounted for half of the Padres offense with two swings. In the second inning, he lined his career-high 16th homer an estimated 369 feet into the seats in right field for a 2-0 lead. When Joey Lucchesi relieved the injured Roupp, Sheets welcomed him by belting a three-run shot just inside the right field foul pole, making it 6-0. It was Sheets' fourth two-homer game in his career and his second of the year. San Diego scored in each of the first three innings, giving Sears plenty of cushion. Ryan O'Hearn initiated the scoring in the first with a two-out RBI single to center that plated Fernando Tatis Jr., who led off with a double.
