India failing to find face-saving exit over Pahalgam: CM

Express Tribune05-05-2025

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasised that Pakistan is a peaceful nuclear power and will continue to uphold its commitment to regional and global peace. According to a communique from the CM House, Shah paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, stating that he made Pakistan a nuclear-capable nation.
Meanwhile, he criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leveling baseless and false allegations against Pakistan regarding the Pahalgam incident, asserting that no responsible nation should even contemplate nuclear warfare, calling such rhetoric dangerous and irresponsible.
He remarked "after the Pahalgam drama, Pakistan extended an offer for transparent investigation, and now India has fallen into its own trap." Further, he stated that "India is out of options and is failing to find a face-saving exit. Its propaganda has collapsed."
The CM also praised Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, noting that the deputy prime minister had effectively presented Pakistan's stance to the international community. Shah also commended Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his clear and firm response to India, stating that "India has resorted to such tactics in the past, but this time its attempts have failed."

RAW funding ‘Fitna-e-Hindustan' to destabilise Pakistan: CM Balochistan

Listen to article Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has stated that India's intelligence agency, Reasearch and Analysis Wing (RAW), is sponsoring the terrorist group 'Fitna-e-Hindustan' to destabilise Pakistan. Addressing a key press conference in the provincial capital alongside Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Zahoor Ahmed Buledi and Chief Secretary Balochistan, the Chief Minister said that India's intelligence agency RAW is actively supporting terrorist groups to destabilise peace in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan. He added that the group was 'purely terrorist' and has no connection to the Baloch people or the province of Balochistan. During the press conference, misleading reports by Indian media were also shown, including false claims about Karachi Port amid recent tensions between Pakistan and India. Audio recordings of Fitna-tul-Hindustan operatives Shanbay and Rehman Gul were also played for journalists, in which they could be heard exchanging information with their RAW handlers. 'These terrorists are not representatives of the Baloch people; they are merely tools of RAW.' 'India cannot tolerate Pakistan's growing economy and aims to harm us through proxy warfare,' he said. The CM dismissed reports of enforced disappearances as propaganda, citing higher numbers of voluntary disappearances recorded by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). He stressed that the Baloch nation has its own proud traditions and does not endorse such cowardly acts. 'They are not killing Punjabis—they are killing Pakistanis,' he added. He stated there is no need for a major military operation in Balochistan, as the state's policy relies on political dialogue and effective strategy. 'Political negotiations are ongoing, but those who raise arms against the state will face action.' The Chief Minister concluded by saying that the state will thwart every attack by Fitna-tul-Hindustan and will not allow any conspiracy against Pakistan's peace and development to succeed.

Bangladesh says India pushes back 1,200 people

PHOTO:REUTERS Bangladesh said on Wednesday that neighbouring India has pushed more than 1,270 people across its border in the past month, mainly Bangladeshis, but also Indian citizens and Rohingya refugees. Bangladesh, largely encircled by land by India, has seen relations with New Delhi turn icy since a mass uprising toppled Dhaka's previous government last year. "Between May 7 and June 3, Indian authorities pushed in 1,272 individuals, including a few Indian citizens and Rohingya, through 19 bordering districts", Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials said. "Only yesterday, they pushed 50 individuals." India's Hindu nationalist government has often described undocumented immigrants as "Muslim infiltrators", accusing them of posing a security threat. India has not commented on the recent returns across their shared border. Bangladeshi Jahidul Molla, 21, said he was among those sent back, saying he had been living in India's western state of Gujarat since he was 14.

Asif declares Simla agreement a 'dead document'

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has declared the 1972 Simla Agreement "dead" in the current geopolitical context, stating that Pakistan has effectively returned to the 1948 position regarding Kashmir, and the Line of Control (LoC) should now be viewed as a ceasefire line. In an interview with a private television channel on Wednesday, the minister said that while the Simla Agreement had initially committed both India and Pakistan to resolving disputes bilaterally, that framework had collapsed due to unilateral Indian actions in recent years. "The Simla Agreement is now a dead document. We are back to the 1948 position, when the United Nations declared the LoC a ceasefire line following the ceasefire and resolutions," he said, referring to the UN-mediated cessation of hostilities in the first India-Pakistan war. "Going forward, these disputes will be dealt with multilaterally or internationally." He also cast doubt over the status of other bilateral arrangements, stating that "whether the Indus Waters Treaty is suspended or not, Simla is already over." Commenting on regional tensions, Asif said the threat of war with India remains present. "Pakistan does not desire war, but if it is imposed on us, the response will be even stronger than before," he warned. The minister touched upon post-conflict developments, stating that Pakistan had emerged as a strengthened defensive power after its past wars with India. "We have become a defensive force. Orders for our JF-17 Thunder fighter jets are coming in," he said, highlighting Pakistan's growing defence capabilities. On the issue of Afghan refugees, Asif reiterated that Afghans should now return to their homeland. "Afghans must settle in their own country. They have no loyalty to our soil," he remarked, adding that the time had come to address this issue firmly.
