An unusually wet July has led into a wet start to August.
The Heritage Day weekend brought an additional 14.2 millimetres of rain to the official Environment and Climate Change Canada weather station at YYC International Airport.
The temperatures over the weekend hovered around seasonal values and will continue into the first full week of the month.
More showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout southern Alberta for the start of the week.
That risk of rain will increase in south-central Alberta, including in Calgary, for the end of the week with more widespread rain expected on Friday.

That rain will coincide with the coolest temperatures for the week with Calgary's high on Friday likely to peak at 18 C, or six degrees cooler than average.
