After wrapping up his time in the NBA Summer League with the Toronto Raptors, former Clemson guard Joseph Girard III is headed overseas to continue his basketball career.
Girard has officially signed with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, a professional club based in Slovenia.
The veteran sharpshooter spent the 2023-24 season with the Tigers after transferring from Syracuse, where he played his first four years. He was instrumental in Clemson's run to the Elite Eight — the program's first since 1980 — averaging 15.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Girard also posted elite shooting numbers: 43% from the field, 41.3% from beyond the arc, and 93.5% at the free-throw line.
As a player, Girard was always a guy with a lot of potential, but hasn't completely put it together the way many had hoped. He still has a high ceiling as a player, and will look to prove it overseas as he looks to develop into an NBA player.

Where does James Franklin rank in 2025 Big Ten coach rankings?

The pressure is on like never before for Penn State head coach James Franklin heading into the 2025 season. With raised expectations for the Penn State program and strong preseason power rankings placed upon them, the Nittany Lions are roaring into the new college football season believed to be a strong Big Ten and national title contender. But where does Franklin rank among his peers in the conference? CBS Sports released its annual Big Ten coach power rankings this week as the Big Ten football media days got underway this week. Not surprisingly, Franklin was among the top-ranked coaches in the Big Ten but did not land the top spot in this year's rankings. Franklin ranked third on the list from CBS Sports behind Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning. That would seem to be a fair assessment given Day is coming off his first national championship with the Buckeyes and Lanning guided Oregon to a Big Ten championship, at the expense of Franklin and Penn State, and a no. 1 seed going into the College Football Playoff last season. Penn State's head coach moved up one spot in the Big Ten coach rankings from CBS Sports this year. Franklin swapped places on the ranking with USC head coach Lincoln Riley. The biggest move in the Big Ten coach rankings came from Indiana's Curt Cignetti, who jumped up to no. 6 from no. 14 following a brilliant debut season in Bloomington with the Hoosiers. Luke Fickell of Wisconsin tumbled from no. 5 in the Big Ten to no. 11 after a rough 2024 season. Michigan State's Jonathan Smith took a similar fall from no. 7 down to no. 13. The spotlight is on Franklin this season, more so than ever before. The expectations are higher than ever. Will this be a year where Franklin breaks from the narrative of coming up short in the biggest of moments when the lights are the brightest? That remains to be seen, and soon enough we will begin witnessing the results for better or worse. You can check out the Big Ten coach rankings from CBS Sports to see how everyone compares. CBS shares midseason WNBA report card for Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever

The first half of the WNBA season was a bit of a rollercoaster for the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark. Between scuffles, hard fouls, and some injuries plaguing Clark, it was a grind. The Fever had a taxing first half of the year, which was met by the much-needed All-Star break to allow them to catch their breath as a team and allow Clark to continue to heal from a nagging groin injury. But, as good teams do, they find ways to win. The Fever squeaked out a 12-11 record in the first half and are looking to regroup as the stretch run approaches. With the first half of the season in the rearview mirror, the Fever still earned a fair grade despite barely being over .500. In their WNBA midseason grades, CBS Sports gave Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever a B- that has room for optimism and improvement. Indiana Fever: B- Caitlin Clark will not play in the Fever's first game out of the break, a road trip to face the Liberty, due to a right groin issue. This is the third different soft tissue injury she's dealt with this season, and after Tuesday night will have appeared in 13 of the Fever's 24 games. Add in the Commissioner's Cup championship and it's 13 of 25. When she has been on the court, Clark has been unable to buy a 3-pointer. She's 2 of 35 from downtown on the road, and is shooting 27.9% from 3-point range for the season. And yet, the Fever are in sixth place with the fourth-best net rating. All the metrics say this is one of the best teams in the league with Clark healthy, but whether she'll be able to stay on the court remains to be seen. - Jack Maloney, CBS Sports If Caitlin Clark can return to form and get her health back, the Indiana Fever have the pieces in place to contend for a deep run in the WNBA playoffs. That question of her health, though, remains the biggest one across the entire league right now.
