Former Clemson star guard Joseph Girard III signs a contract to play overseas
After wrapping up his time in the NBA Summer League with the Toronto Raptors, former Clemson guard Joseph Girard III is headed overseas to continue his basketball career.
Girard has officially signed with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, a professional club based in Slovenia.
The veteran sharpshooter spent the 2023-24 season with the Tigers after transferring from Syracuse, where he played his first four years. He was instrumental in Clemson's run to the Elite Eight — the program's first since 1980 — averaging 15.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Girard also posted elite shooting numbers: 43% from the field, 41.3% from beyond the arc, and 93.5% at the free-throw line.
As a player, Girard was always a guy with a lot of potential, but hasn't completely put it together the way many had hoped. He still has a high ceiling as a player, and will look to prove it overseas as he looks to develop into an NBA player.

Notre Dame offers 4-star California WR Quentin Hale, who is one of the best nationally
#AG2GExtremely blessed and humbled to have been offered by The university of Notre dame🍀@JourdanBlake_ @Marcus_Freeman1 One of the big reasons why Notre Dame has been able to shift its recruiting focus to the 2027 class, is due to the 2026 group being almost complete. They are waiting on just one more prospect, defensive lineman Elijah Golden, who will make his announcement on Saturday and has been trending towards the Irish. There have been plenty of offers out to 2027 prospects, and on Thursday a new one was made to California wide receiver Quentin Hale. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 175-pounder is one of the best players in the country, ranking as the No. 59 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite. August has been a great month for his so far, as he also picked up offers from Alabama and Georgia, while already having others from like Miami, Ohio State, Oregon and Oklahoma. Hale had a huge sophomore season, with 63 receptions for 995-yards and 14 touchdowns. The Irish have done a much better job acquiring high school talent at the position, and could be adding yet another talented pass catcher to their roster. Indiana Fever injury woes only get worse in blowout loss vs Mercury
While the last game of Indiana's four-game West Coast trip ended in an ugly 95-60 blowout against the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night, the final score is probably the least of the team's concerns. Fever guard Sydney Colson suffered a scary non-contact in the first quarter, Sophie Cunningham briefly exited with a left ankle injury but returned in the third quarter and Aari McDonald was sidelined late in the fourth. Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White commented on the litany of injuries afterwards. "Well, Syd is left knee, Aari is right foot, and we'll get more evaluation when we get home tomorrow and see where we are," White stated. Cunningham led the team in scoring with 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 from 3-point territory in the star's first time returning to Phoenix, which is where she spent her first five WNBA seasons. "I'm good," Cunningham said after the loss, indicating her injury concern was a minor one. McDonald's injury occurred with about six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, when she walked back to the locker room with a noticeable limp alongside trainer Maria Witte. With Caitlin Clark still sidelined, the Fever's guard depth may have just taken another serious hit. Clark missed her ninth straight regular season game on Thursday night, but there are reports that Clark is making progress in her right groin injury recovery. The nightmarish series of events affecting Indiana's guard rotation will be a storyline to keep a close eye on as Colson will likely be out long-term and McDonald may be unavailable for the Fever's game on Saturday. Indiana (17-14) returns to action on Saturday against the Chicago Sky (8-22) at 7 p.m. CT on CBS. Former Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard turning heads with the Indianapolis Colts
Last year's Notre Dame Fighting Irish starting quarterback is, according to reports, having a good showing in a different part of Indiana. Riley Leonard, who made the move from South Bend to Indianapolis when the Indianapolis Colts drafted him, has impressed observers, such as the "Locked On Colts" podcast. That doesn't mean Leonard is challenging for the starting job. He's listed as QB3 behind Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, and he's been working with the third string. Many players, including rookies, look good in practice but can't translate the success while wearing shorts to a starting job. Or to regular-season games. That said, it's always fun to root for Notre Dame alumni to do well. Leonard wasn't expected to be anything but a backup coming out of college - if he manages to start games in the NFL, let alone play well while doing so, that would make for a nice story.
