Faridabad man takes 4 sons to railway tracks, holds screaming kids tightly as train runs over them
A 36-year-old man and his four young sons were run over by a train near the Ballabhgarh railway station in Faridabad Tuesday in a suspected act of murder-suicide. The police said he had allegedly suspected his wife of unfaithfulness based on her statement after the deaths.
Manoj Mahto, a daily-wage labourer, allegedly told his wife in the afternoon that he was taking their four young sons to a park near their house in Subhash Colony, Faridabad.
The children, aged three, six, nine and ten, were instead allegedly taken to railway tracks about 200 metres away, below the flyover under Alson Chowk around 12.30 pm. Mahot waited for the train to arrive and bought his children chips and fizzy drinks, said the police.
'The area where they were was not visible from the road. They were sitting there, 1.5 km south of the Ballabhgarh railway station. He held on tightly to the children as the Golden Temple Express arrived,' said Raj Pal, Faridabad Government Railway Police (GRP) Station House Officer.
The train ran over all of them, and the children's pleas for help went unheard, partly due to the remote location, he added.
The loco pilot issued a warning shortly after and the police reached the spot. They found the Aadhaar cards of Mahto and his wife and contacted her using the mobile number on her card.
She arrived there and reportedly fainted when she saw the bodies of her husband and sons. The bodies were taken to the Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for autopsies.
'Initial questioning revealed that he used to suspect her marital loyalty. He would see her speaking to other men on the phone and have doubts (of a possible extramarital relationship). So, as of now, the motive seems to be that,' Raj Pal said.
'There has been no FIR or complaint so far. Even the alleged motive was only mentioned by the wife. We are currently speaking with her,' said Rajesh Kumar Chechi, GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police, Faridabad.

Bengaluru man prints fake notes during week-long stay in hotel, lands in police net
Bengaluru: When 23-year-old Krish Mali, son of a textile businessman, walked out of his house after a fight with his parents, he was too angry to consider how long he could survive on his own. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now When it eventually hit him that his needs far outstripped the capacity of his wallet, he decided to get creative and make money — literally. Mali, a resident of Thoppa Mudaliyar Street in Shivajinagar, has now landed in police net for printing counterfeit notes while renting a hotel room in Tasker Town from June 1 to 7. According to the complaint filed by Hotel High Street manager Mohammed Sarifuddin with Commercial Street police, Mali had booked a room for two days initially. He later extended the booking twice, first online and then offline for the last two days. While checking out around 1pm on June 7, he paid Rs 3,000 in cash, producing six notes of Rs 500 face value at the reception. However, in the early hours of the same day, some pourakarmikas working with BBMP had found a few counterfeit notes when they picked up garbage from the hotel. They informed the hotel management, which confirmed the notes were fake but had no idea who had disposed of them. After Mali checked out, the hotel staff grew suspicious and examined the notes he had given — and voila, they proved to be counterfeit. Sarifuddin and a few other hotel staff went to the room Mali had occupied and found a few notes in the dustbin. Subsequently, Sarifuddin lodged a police complaint, handing over five fake notes as evidence. Paper sheets used to print the counterfeit notes were also found in the room. A senior cop said Mali was nabbed from the address on his Aadhaar card, which he had furnished when checking into the hotel. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During interrogation, he is said to have confessed that he walked out of his house after a fight over a trivial matter. He then rented the hotel room, smuggled in a printer and scanner inside a bag, and made copies of a real Rs 500 note. While he managed to scan, print and cut some notes to the actual size, a few came out poorly and were tossed in the bin. The youth has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. A case has been registered under BNS Sections 179 (using as genuine, forged or counterfeit coin, govt stamp, currency notes or banknotes), 180 (possession of forged or counterfeit coin, govt stamp, currency notes or banknotes), 182 (making or using documents resembling currency notes or banknotes), and 318 (cheating). Police are probing to see if Mali had paid in counterfeit notes at any other place.

Ahead of the Assembly election, the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) is set to conduct a six-phase written examination for the recruitment of 19,838 constable posts in Bihar, commencing July 16. The examination will be conducted across 627 centres in all 38 districts of the State on six dates: July 16, 20, 23, 27, 30, and August 3. 'An advertisement to fill up the 19,838 posts of constables was issued on March 11, which was later extended up to April 25. The Board received a total of 17,06,628 online applications for registration. A total of 16,73,586 applications were found valid after scrutiny,' CSBC Chairman and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jitendra Kumar said at a press briefing in Patna. During scrutiny, 10,947 applications were found incomplete, 20,940 candidates withdrew their applications, and 1,155 were rejected due to various reasons. 'The final list, after scrutiny, was uploaded to the Board's website on June 6,' Mr. Kumar added. When asked about the number of female applicants, Mr. Kumar stated, 'Right now, I do not have numbers with me but there is a 35% quota for women and hence the number may not be less than five to six lakh.' Reiterating the Board's commitment to conduct a fair and transparent examination, Mr. Kumar said, 'Elaborate arrangements are being made by the Board, police headquarters, and the State government. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police will be given proper guidelines from the top level to ensure fair examination.' District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been appointed as Exam Coordinator and Exam Co-Coordinator, respectively. Outlining the security protocols, the Chairman said local police are maintaining strict vigilance and collecting intelligence from hostels, lodges, coaching centres, and other potential gathering spots for candidates. 'Exam centres and halls will be monitored through CCTV cameras, and the live feed will be available at the control room of the Board's headquarters. Jammers capable of blocking 5G and Wi-Fi signals will be installed at all centres. Centre Superintendents will be connected via a hotline to ensure smooth conduct,' Mr. Kumar said. To prevent any undue advantage, candidates will not be allotted centres in their home districts. The Board will announce examination dates and centre details on its official website after June 20, 2025. Allotments will be done through randomisation. The two-hour examination will begin at 12 noon. Candidates will be allowed entry between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. They are required to bring their e-admit card along with a valid photo identification document such as Aadhaar, passport, PAN card, or EPIC. Candidates are not required to bring any writing materials, as the Board will provide pens and question booklets at the examination centres.
