Farah Khan Jokes She's The ‘Star-Maker' After Arjun Kapoor Calls Dileep ‘The Star'
Farah Khan responds to Arjun and Anshula Kapoor calling cook Dileep the star of her vlogs, joking she's the 'star-maker' who launched Rakhi Sawant and Deepika Padukone.
Farah Khan's cooking vlogs have become a delightful mix of food, friendship, and Bollywood banter. In her latest episode, she visited siblings Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor, bringing along her ever-popular cook, Dileep. Known for his charm and quick wit, Dileep didn't just cook — he entertained, even dancing with Arjun in the middle of the episode.
As the banter flowed, both Arjun and Anshula playfully declared Dileep to be the 'main star" of the vlog. Farah, never one to miss a beat, rolled her eyes and quipped, 'I am the star-maker, what do I do? Rakhi Sawant, then Deepika [Padukone], and now…" — leaving the sentence hanging with an unmistakable nod toward Dileep.
The Origin of Farah's Cooking Vlogs
During the episode, Arjun asked Farah how the idea for her YouTube channel began. Farah revealed that she initially planned it as a pure cooking vlog, but soon realised it was too much work alone. Bringing Dileep onboard provided not just culinary help but also a dynamic presence for on-screen banter.
'The first vlog clicked, and by the second vlog we had a silver button," Farah said, crediting the unique blend of cooking, celebrity appearances, and humour for the channel's rapid success.
When Anshula reiterated, 'But Dileep is the star!" and Arjun added, 'Sorry to inform you!", Dileep joined in the fun, answering rapid-fire questions. When asked who he preferred in Gunday — Ranveer Singh or Arjun Kapoor — he diplomatically, and perhaps strategically, picked Arjun.
Farah Khan: From Bollywood Debuts to YouTube Star-Maker
Farah's 'star-maker" comment isn't just a joke — it's rooted in her career. She cast Rakhi Sawant in Main Hoon Na and launched Deepika Padukone opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. Now, with her vlogs, she's inadvertently given Dileep a fan following of his own.
Since starting the vlogs in 2024, Farah and Dileep have visited multiple celebrity homes, cooking meals and sharing candid conversations. The format has evolved into a web series-style show loved for its authenticity and humour, proving Farah's knack for blending entertainment with relatability — whether in films or on YouTube.

"Virat Kohli Also Called": When Village Shop Became Cricket World's Hotline
Gariaband (Chhattisgarh): Imagine you're sitting at a grocery shop in your village when your phone rings. On the other end, a voice says, "Hello, I'm Virat Kohli." Moments later, another call, "This is AB de Villiers." Then another, "I'm Rajat Patidar." It might sound like the opening scene of a Bollywood comedy, but for residents of Madagaon in Devbhog, a village in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district, this was a real-life cricketing twist. Two unsuspecting friends, Manish BC and Khemraj, suddenly found themselves on the VIP contact list of India's cricketing elite. It all began on June 28, when Manish bought a new Reliance Jio SIM from a local mobile shop. The process seemed routine, until WhatsApp loaded and displayed Rajat Patidar's photo as the profile picture. At first, the friends assumed it was a joke. But then the calls started coming, not from neighbours or relatives, but from cricket stars and their associates. Someone claimed to be Virat Kohli, another said they were AB de Villiers. Taking it all in good humour, Manish and Khemraj began introducing themselves as "Mahendra Singh Dhoni" whenever a call came through. On July 15, Manish received yet another call from an unknown number. This time, a polite voice said, "Bhai, I'm Rajat Patidar. That number is mine, please return it." Still in a teasing mood, the friends replied, "And we're MS Dhoni." Patidar patiently explained that the number was important, connecting him with his coaches, friends, and the cricketing fraternity. When the jokes didn't stop, he calmly warned, "Okay, I'll send the police." Within 10 minutes, the police were at their door. That's when the penny dropped - they had been speaking to the real Rajat Patidar all along. The SIM was returned without hesitation. For Khemraj, a die-hard Virat Kohli fan, the accidental calls were the highlight of his life. "I got to speak to Kohli because of a wrong number. My life's goal is complete," he said, grinning. The villagers joke about Madagaon being "on the cricket map," and Manish and Khemraj hope Patidar calls again not for his SIM this time, but to say thank you. Telecom companies recycle numbers that remain inactive for over 90 days. Patidar's old number had been deactivated and reassigned to Manish, unknowingly turning a small grocery shop into a cricketing hotline.

Faissal Khan Says Aamir Khan Supports Him Financially: 'He Gives Me A Monthly Allowance'
Faissal Khan recalls how the failure of Mela ended his acting career and shares that Aamir Khan still supports him with a monthly allowance. Back in 1996, Aamir Khan attempted to launch his brother Faissal Khan as a leading man with director Dharmesh Darshan's Mela. Intended to be a grand Bollywood spectacle, the film instead went down in history as one of the most infamous flops of its era. Taking nearly four years to complete, Mela was plagued by creative disagreements, production delays, and mounting pressures for Faissal, whose acting debut in the 1994 film Madhosh had already failed at the box office. In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Faissal revisited the turbulent journey of Mela, the challenges he faced, and his complicated equation with Aamir. Now living on a monthly allowance from his superstar brother in one of their family's Pali Hill apartments, Faissal says his career never quite recovered after the film's collapse. Preparing for the Test of a Lifetime After Madhosh, Faissal says he was determined to improve his craft before stepping in front of the camera again. 'I was critical about myself and decided to start from scratch. I knew I was not a great actor, so I took lessons. I practised singing to open up my voice, learned to dance and fight. It was after all this that my performance in Mela came through," he recalled. The film boasted a stellar supporting cast including Johnny Lever, Asrani, and Archana Puran Singh. For Faissal, the biggest challenge was sharing the screen with Aamir at the height of his fame. 'Dharmesh told me, 'I'm pitting you against Aamir because he's the best. If you can stand out against him, you'll prove your mettle.' They had just delivered Raja Hindustani, which was the biggest hit of their careers," Faissal said. Aamir's Plan and the Long Delay According to Faissal, Aamir was keen to do a film together, inspired by the trend of brothers teaming up on screen, such as Sunny and Bobby Deol in Dillagi and Salman and Arbaaz Khan in Hello Brother. 'Aamir thought, if nobody wants to feature Faissal alone, we should do a film together. Dharmesh liked the idea and it became a test for me," he explained. But as shooting progressed, tensions flared between Aamir and Dharmesh, leading to repeated delays. 'I had promised producer Ratan Jain I wouldn't sign any other film until Mela was completed. Aamir even threatened to walk out at one point due to his differences with Dharmesh. Dharmesh, meanwhile, tried to get me on his side. Eventually, they'd patch up and resume work. But the film took four years to finish and finally released in 2000," Faissal said. Dharmesh Darshan and Aamir Khan on Mela Over the years, Dharmesh Darshan has publicly admitted the film was compromised. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he said, 'I was very strict in Raja Hindustani, but I became very soft in Mela. It got diluted. There was also a major casting issue. I'm not a magician, but I think Faissal did very well. From Madhosh to Mela, there's growth. In some scenes, he's better than Aamir, giving a very real performance." Aamir, on the other hand, has confessed in past interviews that he regrets making Mela. After the film's box office debacle, he and Dharmesh Darshan never worked together again. What was meant to be a grand launchpad for Faissal instead became a cautionary tale in Bollywood — a film remembered as much for its behind-the-scenes conflicts as for its on-screen shortcomings. Vipin Sharma On Playing Cross-Dressing Father In Dhadak 2: ‘Taare Zameen Par Ke Baad Bohot Galiyan…'
Last Updated: Vipin Sharma opens up about facing criticism after Taare Zameen Par and how playing a cross-dressing father in Dhadak 2 helped him redeem himself. In a career spanning almost two decades, Vipin Sharma has been a part of several movies, but his character in Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par as an arrogant dad is one of the most iconic and remembered. Now, as he yet again plays a dad in Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri starrer Dhadak 2, the actor, in conversation with us at News18, revealed how he faced problems playing an arrogant dad and wanted to redeem himself with this film. When asked if he had any hesitation playing a cross-dressing dad, the actor shared, 'I think the whole idea of this role was very beautiful to me. Also, Taare Zameen Par ke baad bohot galiyan padhi thi. I wanted to redeem myself and share that there is a heart inside every father." Further, when we spoke to him about facing something close to trolling for his role in the Aamir Khan starrer, he revealed an incident when an assistant director told a filmmaker that Vipin Sharma is very arrogant without even meeting him. When Vipin confronted the AD, he revealed that he has that image because of his role in Taare Zameen Par. Vipin Sharma had the wish to play a female character, and Monkey Man helped him fulfill that wish. When asked how this one was special to him, Sharma revealed, 'Monkey Man definitely was the first one that made my dream come true — to make me wear a saree and see how graceful it is. Trust me, it is the most graceful attire in the entire world." 'I have realized that dressing up as a girl has brought something, something deep inside me has shifted; it just allowed me to see a different part of me," he added, and continued that while getting ready for his character in this one he had a major realization and stated, 'When I first saw myself in a saree, I realized that I actually look like my mom, and I had never realized that before. I always thought that I looked like my father, but it was the first time I realized I looked like my mom." Dhadak 2 starred Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi as the main leads, and when we questioned him about the two young talents, he shared, 'They are beautiful people. They both are very nice, and I don't know what happened to me—I was telling Triptii that I was getting a rage of emotions watching her on screen." Dhadak 2 follows a law student who falls in love with a classmate, only to face abuse from her family due to caste inequalities. It has been praised for its sensitive portrayal of casteism. Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 was initially slated for release in November last year but faced multiple delays, reportedly due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 release Dhadak. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
