Metallica is set to perform a special live show on Thursday, August 28 at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, Long Island. The intimate concert will celebrate the launch of SiriusXM's new channel, Maximum Metallica, which officially debuts the following day, Friday, August 29, at 12 p.m. ET on Channel 42 and the SiriusXM app.
The announcement was made by drummer Lars Ulrich during an appearance on SiriusXM's Howard Stern Show on Wednesday. The event marks a rare opportunity to see the iconic band in a small venue, with attendance available through a contest for SiriusXM subscribers and fans. The giveaway, sponsored by Hertz, offers a chance to experience the concert in person.
A recording of the show will premiere on Maximum Metallica on Monday, September 1 at 12 p.m. ET, and will be rebroadcast multiple times throughout the week. Listeners can also stream the performance via the SiriusXM app. Additionally, the full concert will air on Howard Stern's SiriusXM channel, Howard 101, on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. ET and PT.
Described as 'The Most Metallica Anywhere,' the Maximum Metallica channel will feature a wide array of content from the band's extensive catalog. Programming will include major hits, deep cuts, rare live recordings, and behind-the-scenes stories. Band members will also contribute exclusive interviews and curated surprises for fans.
The new channel will be available for free in all SiriusXM-equipped vehicles throughout the month of September, offering broader access to Metallica's music and legacy for both longtime fans and new listeners. The launch underscores SiriusXM's continued collaboration with major artists to deliver dedicated, artist-curated content.

Howard Stern future at SiriusXM uncertain as Jason Whitlock and Donald Trump criticize shock jock's direction

As Howard Stern's future at SiriusXM remains in doubt, controversial sports commentator Jason Whitlock has launched a scathing critique of the radio icon. During a recent episode of his show, Fearless with Jason Whitlock, the 58-year-old labeled Stern 'fraudulent and disappointing,' citing his political shift as a reason for his perceived decline. Stern, 71, has hosted The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM since 2006. His current five-year, $500 million contract is reportedly set to expire at the end of the year. According to the Daily Mail, Stern is in 'very serious negotiations' with the satellite radio company, with insiders suggesting he may consider a shorter one- or two-year extension—if financial terms can be met. Whitlock, once a fan of Stern's politically incorrect approach, blamed the host's pivot to progressive politics for losing his authenticity. 'He was politically incorrect, a shock jock and the best at that,' Whitlock said. 'And then, this guy pivoted into this woke clown.' He argued that cultural changes driven by the return of Donald Trump made Stern's brand of broadcasting less viable. Former President Trump also commented on Stern's future this week. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump told reporters: 'What happened, he got terminated? When he endorsed Hillary Clinton, he lost his audience.' Trump, who frequently appeared on Stern's show in the past, claimed Stern's downfall began after that 2016 endorsement. Insiders told Daily Mail that Stern's approximately 95-person staff recently learned of his indecision. While he may step away from daily broadcasting, he is reportedly considering selling his show's catalog for replay on SiriusXM's Howard 100 and 101 channels or returning for specials. With no official comment from Stern, SiriusXM, or Andy Cohen—whom Stern is said to believe is being favored—the fate of the 'King of All Media' remains up in the air.

Raven-Symoné reveals ex-boyfriend cheated and asked her to be godmother to his love child

Actress and podcast host Raven-Symoné recently opened up about an unexpected twist from a past relationship during her appearance on SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live. The That's So Raven star, now 39, shared that her former boyfriend not only cheated on her by getting another woman pregnant during their relationship but also made a surprising request. She recalled the moment, saying, 'We were together for a really long time, and he got another girl pregnant.' She then added with a mix of disbelief and humor, 'The best part of the story is that I was asked to be the child's godmother.' While she didn't name the ex, Raven emphasized there is no lingering resentment. 'There's nothing but love and respect for all that he's gone through, and his family,' she said. 'He still talks about it all the time… dumba**,' she added, laughing. Since 2020, Raven has been married to Miranda Pearman-Maday, her first public relationship with a woman. On Instagram, she once described their bond as deep and supportive: 'Got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home.' Her wife has also been a major influence on Raven's well-being. Speaking to E! News in 2021, the actress shared that Miranda helped her shed 30 pounds. 'She doesn't want to take me to an early grave, and I want to make sure I am there for her in the best health possible.' Raven's ability to reflect on such experiences with humor and growth highlights the evolution of her personal journey.

Metallica eye Las Vegas Sphere residency and Super Bowl Halftime Show in explosive 2026 plans

Metallica are gearing up for a massive year, with drummer Lars Ulrich confirming that both a Las Vegas Sphere residency and a Super Bowl Halftime Show are on the table for 2026. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the band's interest is clear, and the momentum is building fast. Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Ulrich addressed swirling rumours about Metallica taking over the Sphere in Las Vegas, following the footsteps of U2 and the Eagles. 'I'm not going to confirm anything, because there's nothing to confirm,' he said, 'but I'm not going to deny it either.' He admitted the venue blew him away and confessed, 'I would fucking love to do it.' Guitarist Kirk Hammett has also shown enthusiasm, calling the Sphere a game-changer for live music and praising its cutting-edge technology and immersive potential. Metallica are currently preparing for an intimate 250-person show on August 28 to launch their new SiriusXM channel, Maximum Metallica, but plans for grander stages are clearly in motion. Ulrich also lit up when asked about performing at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will take place in the band's hometown of San Francisco. 'Fuck yeah, of course we would,' he said, calling it a dream gig. 'To do it in San Francisco would be a dream come true… It would be the right fit.' With heavy rock seeing a surge in live attendance this year and Metallica's legacy more relevant than ever, a halftime performance seems not only possible but overdue. As the 2026 tour wraps up, the stars may finally align for Metallica to conquer both the most high-tech stage in the world and the biggest televised music event on Earth.
