Producers should approach Andhra govt through the film chamber: Pawan Kalyan

Vijayawada, May 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday said that the film producers should not approach the government individually, but through the film chamber to seek any hike in cinema ticket rates.
Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh apprised Pawan Kalyan of the circumstances which led the distributors and exhibitors to announce the closure of cinema theatres from June 1.
Pawan Kalyan told Durgesh to implement the policy that only film chamber representatives should approach the government to discuss any matter.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan made several key suggestions. He said whether it is a hike in ticket prices or the issue of management of cinema halls, all matters should be dealt with efficiently.
'For even the Pawan Kalyan-starrer film 'Hari Hara Veeramallu' movie, scheduled to be released on June 12, the producer should not approach the government individually but he should consult through the film chamber to seek a hike of ticker price,' Pawan Kalyan said.
Pawan Kalyan and Kandula Durgesh also discussed the exorbitant prices of popcorn, soft drinks and other eatable items in the multiplex theatres. They also discussed selling of drinking water bottles at high prices in the multiplexes. Pawan Kalyan told the Cinematography Minister that the selling of edible items and soft drinks were monopolised across the state in multiplexes as also in single screen theatres.
The Deputy Chief Minister opined that if audiences want to come to the cinema hall with their families, they should not be held back by the prices of food and soft drinks. UNI DP SSP

OHPC signs agreement with WAPCOS for management consultancy services of 600 MW UIPSP

Bhubaneswar, June 6 (UNI) Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (OHPC) and WAPCOS Ltd on Friday signed an agreement for project management consultancy services for the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project (UIPSP) at Mukhiguda. The Detailed Project Report for the UIPSP has been prepared by WAPCOS. Essentially, it is a large Energy Storage System that pumps water from the lower to the upper reservoir during periods of surplus power availability in the grid. This water is then released to generate electricity during peak power demand. OHPC is constructing a 600 MW Pumped Storage Project near its existing 600 MW Upper Indravati Hydro Electric Project. 'This collaboration marks a crucial step in advancing Odisha's energy sector while ensuring efficiency and sustainability,' said Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo,who also holds the energy portfolio. He further stated that the proposed PSP will have an underground powerhouse located near the lower reservoir, equipped with four vertical-axis reversible-type Francis hydroelectric units, each with a capacity of 150 MW (i.e., 4 x 150 = 600 MW). The system will operate in both pumping and generating modes at different times of the day by circulating water between the two reservoirs. Senior officials from the Water Resources Department, Energy Department, OHPC, and WAPCOS were present on the occasion. UNI DP GNK

PM Modi to attend G7 Summit in Alberta, gets invitation call from Canadian PM Mark Carney

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Putting all speculation to the contrary to rest, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the G7 Leaders' Summit in Canada next week, after having received an invite from Canadian PM Mark Carney. PM Modi received a call from Canadian PM Mark Carney today, inviting him to attend the June 15-17 G7 Leaders' Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta. The invite from the Canadian PM and PM Modi's attendance marks a thawing in the relations between the two nations that had seen a sharp downward spiral under previous prime minister Justin Trudeau, over the latter's championing the cause of the Khalistani elements. PM Modi said in a post on X that the two nations will work together with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests, and that he looks forward to their meeting at the Summit. 'Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. 'Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month. 'As vibrant democracies bound by deep people-to-people ties, India and Canada will work together with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests. 'Look forward to our meeting at the Summit.' Canadian media had reported that pro-Khalistani organisations had called on Ottawa to "break with a five-year tradition by not inviting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the G7 summit'. The G7 consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US. The President of the European Commission and several other nations are also expected to participate in the summit. Late last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the new Canadian FM Anita Anand had spoken over the phone, and discussed the prospects of bilateral ties. Indo-Canadian leader Anita Anand was appointed as the Foreign Minister in the government of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, whose Liberal Party won the parliamentary polls. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also wished PM Carney after he took charge of the government. UNI RN
