'We felt understood' - Man grateful for KLIA2's attentive service to special needs child
A man recently expressed his gratitude to Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), highlighting the airport's attentive service to his family.
'Sometimes not all disabilities are visible, but when there are people who understand, the journey becomes lighter and more relaxed,' Nur Azamuddin Hisham shared in a Facebook post.
Nur Azamuddin said that a member of the KLIA2 staff approached his family and handed them a tag.
Moments later, they were escorted to a buggy as part of the airport's initiative, The Butterfly Effect, which caters to passengers with 'hidden disabilities'.
'The most touching part was when we were heading back to Terengganu. We arrived late at the airport and felt stuck — the boarding gate was far away, our luggage hadn't been checked in, and our child was in a moody state.
'When we reached the Information Counter, we showed the Butterfly Effect tag, and to our surprise, the staff immediately assisted us — from the check-in counter, past security, and on the buggy all the way to the boarding gate.
'We didn't say much, but all we felt in our hearts was relief — not because of the shortcuts, but because we felt understood,' Nur Azamuddin added.

In addition, the actor and writer Harvey Fierstein received a lifetime achievement Tony. Over the course of his career, he has earned four Tony Awards. He took two home in 1983 for 'Torch Song Trilogy,' winning best play and best actor. He also won best book of a musical for 'La Cage aux Folles' in 1984 and best actor in a musical for 'Hairspray' in 2003. The musicians from the 'Buena Vista Social Club' being honored include Marco Paguia, the music director and conductor; David Oquendo, the associate music director and guitarist; Renesito Avich, who plays the Cuban tres; Gustavo Schartz, the bassist; Jesus Ricardo, the trumpeter; Eddie Venegas, the trombonist; Hery Paz on woodwinds; and Leonardo Reyna, a pianist; and Javier Diaz, Román Díaz and Mauricio Herrera on percussion. The musical was inspired by the influential 1997 album of the same title, which became a blockbuster and brought international recognition to the musicians. The ambitious scenery in 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' included a 1,300 pound structure that had to move safely and quickly. Jamie Harrison, Chris Fisher, Gary Beestone and Edward Pierce will be honored for the show's illusions and technical effects. The play, set 24 years before the start of the Netflix series, follows the teenage life of the show's antagonist Henry Creel. In addition, the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theater, given annually for work not eligible in the competitive categories, are going to these recipients: 'Great Performances,' the staple showcase for the performing arts on PBS for more than a half century. Michael P. Price, who at the time was the longest-serving executive director of any American theater when he retired from Goodspeed Musicals in 2014. In his 47 years at the helm of the theater, he produced more than 250 classic musicals and 100 new musicals. Along the way, he earned 13 Tony Awards. New 42, an entity created to revive 42nd Street and the surrounding theaters. The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, operating since 1965, which has one of the world's largest collections focused on the performing arts, with more than 8 million items. The Isabelle Stevenson Tony was given to Celia Keenan-Bolger for her advocacy work through the arts. This award is presented annually to an individual in the theater community who has volunteered time and effort to humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations. 42-year-old man from Beed undergoes rare small intestine transplant; organ airlifted from Delhi
MUMBAI: In a rare and clinically complex procedure, a 42-year-old man from Maharashtra's Beed district recently received a life-saving small intestine transplant at Nanavati Max Hospital in Mumbai. The transplant in the first week of May was made after a cadaveric organ was retrieved from a brain-dead donor in Delhi and transported over 1,400 kilometres within just under five hours — a feat requiring precision, interstate coordination, and rapid emergency logistics. The patient, Siddheshwar Dake, a resident of rural Beed in the drought-prone Marathwada region, had been suffering from worsening abdominal pain and gastrointestinal issues for more than two years. Despite consulting multiple hospitals, he received inconclusive diagnoses—ranging from ulcers to suspected malignancy. His condition continued to deteriorate until he was referred to the specialised liver, intestine, and pancreas outpatient department at Nanavati Max Hospital earlier in January. A detailed evaluation in February revealed that Dake had developed Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) thrombosis—a condition in which a blood clot blocks the major artery supplying the small intestine. The resulting loss of blood flow had led to extensive gangrene. 'He was in a hypercoagulable state, which increases the risk of clot formation. We had to act swiftly to remove the necrotic segment. However, an intestinal transplant was his only curative option,' said Dr Gaurav Chaubal, director of HPB surgery and liver and multi-organ transplant at the hospital. With no suitable living donor in the family, Dake was placed on the national cadaveric transplant registry in April. A month later, the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) notified the Mumbai-based team about a matching donor in Delhi—a 21-year-old woman who had been declared brain-dead following a road traffic accident. Her family's consent to donate her organs enabled the transplant. A highly trained surgical retrieval team from Nanavati flew to Delhi to coordinate the organ harvest, working alongside Max Healthcare's hospitals at Shalimar Bagh and BLK-Max. Following the procedure, an emergency 'green corridor' was activated in both Delhi and Mumbai. Airport authorities, local police, and civic agencies collaborated to establish a traffic-free route, ensuring rapid and uninterrupted ground transportation between the hospitals and airports. 'The harvested organ was transported from the Delhi hospital to the airport with a police escort, then flown to Mumbai via a chartered medical aircraft. On arrival, it took less than 10 minutes to reach Nanavati Max Hospital due to the pre-cleared traffic route,' explained Dr Aditya J Nanavati, associate director of HPB surgery and liver and multi-organ transplant. 'Every minute counts, as the viability of the intestine outside the body is extremely limited.' The transplant surgery lasted around eight hours and was completed within the acceptable ischemic time. Post-operatively, Dake was closely monitored in a dedicated transplant ICU. After recovering with immunosuppressive therapy, infection control measures, and specialised nutritional support, he was discharged within three weeks and is currently in a stable condition, responding well to follow-up care. 'This is among the rarest forms of solid organ transplantation in India,' said Dr Vivek Talaulikar, COO (Western Region), Max Healthcare. 'Such procedures demonstrate the importance of clinical expertise and national-level collaboration in saving lives.' A NOTTO official from Delhi said, 'Compared to more common liver and kidney transplants, small intestine transplants are extremely rare due to surgical intricacies and complex post-operative care requirements.'

Denied berth, Rajgopal Reddy goes silent
Munugodu: Local MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy was once again denied a ministerial position, leading to deep disappointment among his supporters. Although he was not included in the PCC Committees earlier, his followers were hopeful that he would certainly be included in the cabinet this time. However, his name was once again absent from the final list of ministers. Rajgopal Reddy had previously expressed interest in holding a cabinet post, even aspiring to be the Home Minister. When it became clear he was being overlooked, he remarked that a senior leader from his district was deliberately blocking his chances. His expectations were dashed once again, reigniting the discussion of internal party politics. From the undivided Nalgonda district, two Reddy community leaders—Komatireddy Venkat Reddy (his own brother) and Uttam Kumar Reddy—are already part of the cabinet. It is believed that the party high command avoided including another leader from the same community and district to prevent backlash about regional and caste favouritism. Rajgopal Reddy, a senior politician with experience as an MLA, MLC, and MP, had left the BJP to rejoin Congress before the recent elections, along with former MP Vivek Venkatswamy. Both leaders were reportedly promised ministerial positions by the Congress leadership. While Vivek was appointed as a minister, Rajgopal was overlooked, raising questions within the party. Local political dynamics, especially having two ministers from the same community and district, worked against him. There is also speculation that a letter from senior Congress leader Jana Reddy, insisting on representation for Ranga Reddy or Hyderabad districts, played a role in blocking Rajgopal's appointment. Despite previous criticisms, Rajgopal Reddy eventually aligned with party leadership and worked actively. He was confident about getting a portfolio, particularly Home or Education, based on his statements and body language over the past few months. But with his name missing from the final list, his hopes were shattered. Meanwhile, a disappointed Rajgopal Reddy has gone underground and was not available to party members. There are rumors that he might be offered the Chief Whip position or possibly the post of Working President of the party. However, the Chief Whip position remains unassigned as of now. It remains to be seen whether he will accept such a role or take a different political path.
