EverEnviro's Indore CBG plant achieves 20 TPD output, highest PLF in India's bioenergy sector

Time of India5 days ago
New Delhi: India's first large-scale
compressed biogas
(CBG) plant built on
municipal solid waste
(MSW) has reached a daily production of 20 tonnes, making it the most productive CBG facility in the country. Operated by
EverEnviro
Resource Management Pvt Ltd in partnership with the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), the facility has achieved the highest Plant Load Factor (PLF) in the sector.
Commissioned in 2022 and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the plant processes 550 metric tonnes of segregated organic waste every day. Built on a site that earlier contained more than 2,00,000 metric tonnes of legacy waste, the facility contributes to an estimated reduction of 70,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions annually.
Mahesh Girdhar, MD & CEO of EverEnviro, said, 'This achievement underscores the viability of industrial-scale bioenergy solutions in addressing urban waste challenges. It reflects effective collaboration across stakeholders and alignment with national climate and sustainability targets. Indore demonstrates what integrated, outcome-driven infrastructure can deliver.'
In addition to 20 tonnes per day of CBG, the plant also generates 40 metric tonnes of organic fertilizer daily. The gas is distributed to over 15,000 households through Avantika Gas, Gujarat Gas, and Naveria Gas and is also used to power Indore's city bus fleet.
Recognised as a national benchmark, the Indore plant has attracted interest from urban local bodies across India and international delegations from the UK, Nepal and Southeast Asia. The site has also become a hub for students, researchers and policymakers exploring scalable models for waste-to-energy and urban sustainability.
The project aligns with India's clean energy and circular economy objectives and supports national initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 and SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation), contributing to India's broader net zero goals.

Supertech homebuyers seek CJI, PM intervention to let NBCC complete projects

Homebuyers of 16 stalled housing projects by Supertech have written to Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking their intervention to hand over these projects to state-owned NBCC instead of NCR-based Apex Group. The homebuyers called for vacating a stay imposed by the top court on a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) order in December 2024, directing that all these projects be entrusted to NBCC (India) Ltd for time-bound completion. 'After enduring over a decade of financial loss, mental trauma, and shattered dreams, we now face the imminent threat of being handed over once again to a private entity — Apex Heights Pvt Ltd — whose proposal and compliance affidavit submitted to the SC is fundamentally flawed, financially unviable, ethically questionable, and devastating for homebuyers,' they said in the letter. The 16 stuck projects of Supertech comprise 50,962 homes, of which 39,870 are sold and 11,092 remain unsold. Of the sold homes, 24,871 have been handed over to buyers, while 14,999 are yet to be delivered. Live Events An investment of Rs 1,700 crore is required to complete the sold homes, while receivables from these units are estimated at Rs 2,200 crore. 'NBCC has delivered large-scale, complex stalled housing projects such as Amrapali. It has the technical expertise, government backing, operational credibility, and most importantly — the trust of homebuyers,' said Mujeebur Rahman, a homebuyer. The buyers have also demanded the disqualification of Apex from the resolution process and the complete removal of Supertech promoters from it. 'We have requested the Supreme Court that no further interlocutory applications (IA) be entertained at this advanced stage of the proceedings. It has already been 15 long years, and more than 50,000 homebuyers are still waiting for their homes, having suffered immense financial and mental distress,' Rahman said. Homebuyers have alleged that Supertech is attempting to block NBCC's onboarding by pushing the Apex proposal. Supertech, however, said once the Supreme Court approves the resolution plan submitted by Apex Heights, it will pave the way for all stakeholders to complete the 16 projects, with deliveries to homebuyers starting within three months and being completed in the next 24 months, in addition to repayment to financial institutions and land authorities as agreed in the plan. 'Since the de-linking of the Doon Square Project in reverse insolvency, the handover of units has been done by Ametek, the codeveloper in the project, well before the time stipulated. NCLAT had directed delivery in 12 months, whereas 100% handover of units to homebuyers has been successfully completed in nine months,' Supertech said in a statement. Apex Group has agreed to clear Rs 678 crore of dues to five banks and around Rs 1,900 crore to Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna authorities. In the initial phase, the company has committed to invest Rs 500 crore, with plans to deliver the flats within two years of taking over. Economic Times WhatsApp channel )

PM Modi to inaugurate Bhopal Metro's priority corridor in Oct: CM Mohan Yadav

In a major urban transit milestone for Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has announced that the Bhopal Metro Rail's priority corridor will be inaugurated in October 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to officiate the launch. The announcement signals the near completion of the AIIMS to Subhash Nagar stretch, the first operational segment of the city's long-awaited Metro project. Dr Yadav on Sunday personally supervised the progress and covered a short distance on the priority corridor. Developed at an estimated cost of Rs 2,225 crore, the priority corridor covers approximately 7.5 kilometres and comprises eight elevated stations. The Metro line promises world-class passenger amenities, including modern escalators, elevators, automated fare collection systems, and accessibility features for differently-abled passengers. The Chief Minister said that 27 state-of-the-art train sets have been commissioned for the project, with seven already delivered and undergoing trial runs. The Bhopal Metro, being executed by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), is designed to improve public mobility, curb vehicular congestion, and reduce environmental pollution in the state capital. The first phase will eventually span 28 kilometres across two interconnected corridors, combining elevated and underground tracks to ensure comprehensive urban coverage. In parallel, Indore—the state's commercial capital—continues to advance its own Metro infrastructure under the same initiative. The Indore Metro Rail Project, with a Phase 1 length of 33.53 kilometres, is estimated at Rs 7,500 crore and financed through a mix of central and state funds, along with international development loans. A 5.9-kilometre priority section from Gandhi Nagar to Station Number 3 has completed successful trial runs, and full operations are targeted for 2027. The Bhopal Metro's Orange Line, extending from AIIMS to Karond, will feature 16 stations—14 elevated and two underground—across a 16.69-kilometre alignment. Of this, 13.3 kilometres will run on elevated viaducts, while 3.39 kilometres will be constructed underground. The Blue Line will span 14.16 kilometres from Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri Tiraha, consisting entirely of elevated track with 14 stations along the corridor. Together, the two lines will cover a total length of 30.85 kilometres and accommodate 30 stations, forming the backbone of Bhopal's new mass transit system. Both Metro ventures, Indore and Bhopal, are central to Madhya Pradesh's strategy for modernising urban transport and boosting regional development. With Indore and Bhopal expected to lead the way in seamless, clean, and high-capacity transit, the government envisions a paradigm shift in commuter experience and city planning.
