Anne Burrell Family Guide: Inside the Late Chef's Marriage and Bond With Her Stepson After Death

Celebrity chef Anne Burrell had no shortage of loved ones mourning her death at age 55. The Food Network personality is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, stepson Javier, her mother, Marlene, and her sister, Jane. "Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered," her family said in a June 2025 statement to Us Weekly. "Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal." Celebrity chef Rachael Ray served as one of the bridesmaids at the wedding. "Everything was magical," Burrell said during a subsequent appearance on The Rachael Ray Show. "I was like, 'I want the fairy tale! I'm only going to be a bride once!'' "We wrote our own vows, which I thought were very cute and lovely, and then when it came to the time when they said I had to say, 'I do,' it just came out of me like, 'YES I DO!'" she continued. Burrell and Claxton gushed over their marriage and had nothing but sweet things to say about building their life together in their Brooklyn apartment. "I have to say, I love being married. We're together all the time because Stuart works from home. It's the being together all the time, but it's also the adventure together," Burrell told People in April 2023. Claxton agreed, saying marriage was 'wonderful' and he was enjoying wedded bliss. "Anne and I hadn't lived together before we moved in and got married, so it's been a whole adventure, but very lovely at the same time,' he told the outlet. Claxton works in marketing and communication. Bobby Flay's Dating History: A Guide to His 3 Ex-Wives and More Burrell was a devoted stepmother to stepson Javier, whom Claxton welcomed during a previous relationship. She previously discussed living in New York and spending time going to baseball games with her family. 'I love to go to Mets games. Baseball always feels historical to me and I truly love history,' she told Broken Plate in July 2024. 'I love to watch a few innings and then stop and get a chicken parm. And it's a family affair. My stepson is home from college for the summer and he's working at the stand. He's slinging chicken parm and he's having a great time doing it. He's meeting cool people and making a few dollars.' During the COVID-19 pandemic, Javier helped his stepmother film cooking videos in her kitchen. One month prior to her death, Burrell posted a Mother's Day tribute to her mom and sister on Instagram. 'Happy HAPPY Mother's Day to my two VERY favorite Mothers- MY AMAZING mom and my sister @janeburrell326 !!' she captioned a May 2025 carousel of photos. 'You are both just so strong, loving, kooky, smart and AMAZING women that I am SO very happy to be able to call my family. You have both created fantastic families. I love you SO much!! Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!!! #ilovemyfamily #ilovewhatido #luckygirl.'

Quiet tonight, Weather Aware Monday for strong to severe afternoon storms

Tonight: Skies will become partly cloudy with patchy fog developing as lows fall to the upper 60s to low 70s. Monday: We are staying Weather Aware for the risk of afternoon storms becoming severe with high winds and small hail. Highs will be in the lower 80s with mostly cloudy skies. This Week: On Monday, a sub-severe decaying line of showers and few storms will quickly push northeast across central Alabama through lunchtime before we get a brief break. Then by 2 PM, a new and more intense line of storms should form over west-central Alabama and push eastward. This line will likely be more impactful for out southern counties so areas along and south of I-20 for Monday late afternoon and evening. Our severe risk is gone after Monday with just a small threat for an afternoon pop-up shower or storm on Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly south of I-20. Most of us will begin to dry things out under partly cloudy skies and highs warming into the middle 80s. Hit and miss afternoon storms gradually become more widespread from Thursday into the upcoming weekend. Several locations may avoid these smaller storms all week long, while others will continue to see a quick downpour nearly every day. In addition to the daily threat for a shower will be the continued heavy amount of moisture staying in place across the area. This will make afternoon and evening temperatures feel like the 90s by Thursday and potentially 100°+ by Friday.
