Clash erupted at BN College in Patna between two student groups
PATNA: A brawl over supremacy between two groups of students turned violent at the
BN College
campus in Patna on Tuesday, as they hurled bombs and pelted stones at each other. One student was severely injured in this fight and was immediately rushed to the PMCH for treatment.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Pirbahore police reached the spot and started their investigation. According to the police, the injured was identified as Sujit Pandey, son of Dharmendra Pandey, a resident of Bhaluni Dham village in Rohtas district.
Abdul Haleem, SHO of Pirbahore police station, confirmed that two bombs exploded on the college campus while the students were taking their exams.
'The forensic team has been called to collect evidence from the crime scene. The police are examining the CCTV footage installed inside the college premises to identify the accused,' he said, adding that no arrests have been made yet.
'Bombing took place due to a dispute between hostelers of the college during the exam. One of the hostel boarders threw the bomb, which fell on the student after hitting the wall and the grill of the college gate.
The injured student was sent to PMCH for treatment. A few days ago, there was a dispute between two groups of students of BN College's hostel. At that time, the police pacified the matter by convincing both parties,' the SHO said, while blaming the college administration for not keeping a tab on their students and what they are bringing (explosives) inside the college campus.
Angered by the incident, students took to the street and shouted slogans against the college administration by blocking the Ashok Rajpath.
One student complained that fighting over trivial issues has become habitual on college premises, but the administration does not bother to take action against such anti-social elements.
An eyewitness to the incident said a bomb exploded in the corridor while they were giving the CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) exam. 'After this, the exam was stopped, and the students were asked to leave. During this time, another bomb was hurled, which fell on the head of a student.
He got injured,' he said. The police pacified the angry students and cleared the road.
College Principal Rajkishore Prasad said that the blasts happened at 12:45 pm and 12:48 pm. 'One student was injured. Two groups of students were fighting among themselves. Police take action on the information of the college administration, but such incidents are not being curbed. Some students have entered the examination hall without ID cards. Action will be taken against the students involved in the incident,' he said.

Muzaffarpur Rape Accused Surrenders After 'Bulldozer Action' Against Home, Eatery In Bihar

Patna: In a dramatic turn of events in the Muzaffarpur Dalit girl case, the main accused, Mukesh Kumar Rai, surrendered before the police after the district administration demolished his house and eatery (dhaba) on Thursday. The bulldozer action came in the wake of widespread public outrage over the death of an 11-year-old Dalit girl, who was sexually assaulted and later died after she was allegedly denied urgent medical care. Responding to public anger and political condemnation, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha had earlier announced strict action against the accused during his visit to the victim's house on Thursday. After a few hours, a bulldozer action was executed. Under the leadership of Rural SP Vidyasagar and SDM West Shreya Shri, a heavy police contingent arrived at Mukesh Rai's residence and dhaba, located in the jurisdiction of the Turki police station area. The property was confiscated, and a bulldozer razed both structures. Fearing further consequences , Mukesh Rai surrendered to the police shortly after the demolition began. The district police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway, and a charge sheet will be filed promptly. On May 26, an 11-year-old Dalit girl was sexually assaulted in a village under Kudhni police station. Post-assault, the child was brought to SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, but received negligent treatment and was referred to PMCH, Patna. At PMCH, she was not allotted a bed, was left in an ambulance for four hours, and later succumbed to her injuries. Following the incident, protests erupted across Bihar, with leaders from the Congress, RJD, and Jan Suraj Party demanding accountability and action. Opposition parties condemned the law and order breakdown and healthcare negligence, holding the government responsible for the girl's death. Protesters claimed that timely medical intervention could have saved her life. In response, the government suspended the SKMCH superintendent, removed a deputy superintendent of PMCH, and suspended three police officials, though critics say these actions were superficial and delayed. The brutal nature of the crime, combined with administrative failure and caste-based insensitivity, has triggered state-wide outrage. Citizens, activists, and rights organizations are demanding speedy trial and conviction under the POCSO and SC/ST Atrocities Act. This incident has become a flashpoint in Bihar politics and raised serious questions about the state's healthcare system, police responsiveness, and caste-based injustices. The bulldozer action has set a precedent, but the public now awaits judicial justice for the minor victim.
