From bromance to nomance: The Donald Trump-Elon Musk fight is on. The SpaceX CEO and owner of social media site X posted a "big bomb" tweet linking President Donald Trump with the infamous Jeffrey Epstein files and ending the post with a passive-aggressive farewell. On June 5, Musk posted: "Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!" Within 17 minutes, the tweet had 6.8 million views, 132,000 likes, 63,000 retweets and 34,000 comments on X. Trump did not stay silent, firing back on social media: "The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!" In another tweet, Trump states: "Elon was 'wearing thin,' I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!" How did it get to this point? Musk, the Tesla CEO, was critical of Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," a tax bill that narrowly passed the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22. Weekend of April 3, 2025, marked Trump's ninth visit to Florida and his eighth visit to Mar-a-Lago. On this weekend, Trump managed a golf trifecta — he attended, played or competed at all three of his Trump National Golf Club sites in Florida. Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami, where he appeared, also hosted the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tournament that weekend. On April 5 and April 6, 2025, protesters converged in about 1,300 Trump-Elon Musk "Hands Off, Fight Back" rallies nationwide, with 45 in Florida alone and some down the road from Mar-a-Lago. Weekend of April 11, 2025, marked Trump's 10th visit to his home state and his ninth visit to Mar-a-Lago. Trump was the named keynote speaker and DOGE chief Elon Musk was slated to receive an award at a Palm Beach County Republicans event at Mar-a-Lago. Trump arrived aboard Air Force One with Elon Musk and his young son, Little X Musk. Together, they rode the presidential limousine, known as The Beast, to Mar-a-Lago. Weekend of May 1, 2025, marked Trump's 11th (and final) visit to his home state and the 10th visit to Mar-a-Lago since he was sworn in. Vice President JD Vance also flew in to Palm Beach via Air Force Two but left the state before Trump's arrival. For a second time, Trump returned to his home state the same weekend there were nationwide rallies and protests aimed at Trump and Musk. Since President Donald Trump's second term started Jan. 20, 2025, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has visited his home and private club, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, a number of times. In fact, the last official appearance with Donald Trump, Melania Trump and Barron Trump on board Air Force One together from Palm Beach International Airport was ahead of Inauguration Day festivities.
