Why it's just not going to happen for Kyle Pitts in fantasy
Yahoo Fantasy analyst Matt Harmon and NFL analyst Nate Tice explain why the Falcons tight end will have a hard time finding consistency in an offense dominated by Drake London. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript So Kyle Pitts, um, okay. Why, why, why is it not going to happen for Kyle Pitts? I think he's just too inconsistent of a player. I just sigh because I want him to work so badly. He's still young, but why he's not working, I've heard. First off, I think, yeah, yeah, I know, right? Fire Arthur Smith. I think Drake London is, first off, going to always be the focal point of this offense. I think Pitts has just turned into he's just not good enough of a blocker and he's just not dynamic of a receiver because all of his best receiving routes, we talked about the Tyler Warren discussion. Um, okay, 10 yard route, find the soft spot right there. Pitts is a strider. So he needs routes that let him go downfield, across the field. Runway routes. So, okay, now we, all right, we're already taking off routes off the menu that he can run. In theory, he can run other routes, but it's not as effective as why don't we just put, well, turn on Mooney if he was healthy, Ray Ray McLeod on it, why don't we just have Drake London run off the route from the slot, you know, so it's just, he's almost like best almost used as like a sacrificial ex in this day and age, like, yeah, that's how he's used and it's like, you know, and just, he's just not consistent, you know, so even in the red zone where it's like, okay, we want to target him because he's such a big target. He's got pterodactyl arms. All right, well, he lopes, I mean the one ball that Penn had an interception on at the goal line. I'm trying to remember who it was against, but pops right out of his hands and goes to the defender. I want to say the Giants perhaps, um, but it was just that that is just. He's just not reliable. And I think that's what frustrates coaches and quarterbacks, and he just doesn't dominate in this area. And you know, some of that was the knee injury and he lost confidence afterwards. And he's just a specific player. He's just one of these guys that like, I do feel like he'll have that second team breakout, but like how this team makeup is and everything, it's just, it's, it's tough to find that role and and find what he is actually overwhelmingly good at.
