Eustace's Ascot heroes hunting more glory at Goodwood

Both horses shone at Group One level at Royal Ascot in June, with Docklands kicking off the meeting with a surprise 16-1 success in the Queen Anne Stakes before Time For Sandals came to the fore at 25-1 in the Commonwealth Cup.
Docklands now heads for the Sussex Stakes on the South Downs next week, where he will face an incredibly strong field that includes dual Group One-winner Field Of Gold.
'Docklands has been super since the race and seems to have come out of it very well. He has done a couple of bits of work since,' said Eustace.
'He obviously came out of it race-fit, so it's getting him into Goodwood in as good a form as we got him into Ascot.
'We are under no illusions regarding the opposition. We take on the three-year-olds, particularly Field of Gold, which will be the toughest opponent he's faced so far, but he's in as good a place as we have ever had him.'
Docklands has been ridden by various jockeys in the past and was something of a chance ride for Mark Zahra at Royal Ascot, with Tom Marquand now set to get the leg up as those former partners are unavailable.
Eustace confirmed: 'Tom Marquand will ride in the Sussex. Mark rode him at Ascot and Richard (Kingscote, who rode on his first two starts this year) is off to Hong Kong.
'Finding someone who can commit over two or three races this year is difficult for a yard our size, but I'm obviously keen to get the best available. I have a good relationship with Tom through my time with William Haggas and I think he'll suit him well.'
Time For Sandals is taking aim at the King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood, a step back to five furlongs for the first time since her juvenile season.
Prior to Ascot the filly was second by just a head in the Prix Texanita at Chantilly, a performance that has developed into a good line of form as the winner, Woodshauna, landed the Group One Prix Jean Prat next time out.
Eustace said of his runner: 'She's come out of Ascot particularly well. It was a big effort and the extra few weeks have really helped her.
'The Chantilly form has worked out very well and the winner of that has won the Prix Jean Prat, so her form is beginning to stack up stronger than people maybe thought it did on the day.
'Goodwood, almost more so than Ascot, can be quite a tough place to travel horses because of the box journey up to the racetrack. Mentally, it asks more questions than Ascot, but both she and Docklands mentally are very strong so that part of it I have no concerns about, so it's a real asset for them.'

Like buying money – The two odds-on ‘steering jobs' tipped to leave bookies in tears at Glorious Goodwood

ANTE-POST punting is a dangerous road littered with torn betslips and shattered dreams. But every now and then a seemingly golden opportunity presents itself. 1 Too good to be true? Maybe. But unless you take the plunge you'll never know. Punters who like to smash into favourites at very short prices will often talk about the notion of 'buying money'. It doesn't always work. Just this week we saw 2-13 Royal Ascot runner-up Thesecretadversary beaten by a 28-1 outsider. But you'd hope there would be fewer chances for things to go so seismically wrong in Group 1s. And that's where John Gosden's Field Of Gold and Aidan O'Brien's Illinois come in. Both are currently odds-on for their respective races at next week's Glorious Goodwood. Field Of Gold, who perhaps should have won the 2,000 Guineas, and definitely did win the Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, is a best-price 1-2 to win the Sussex Stakes next Wednesday. His big market rival - and second-fav - Rosallion was a big drifter on the Betfair Exchange and could be sent elsewhere. Illinois was second to Trawlerman in last month's Ascot Gold Cup. But he is a proven Group-level performer - albeit he has always come up short in Group 1s - and last finished outside the top two in April 2024 - NINE races ago. He is a best-price 8-11 to win the 2m feature next Tuesday. There is a chance O'Brien could run recent brilliant Newmarket scorer Scandinavia instead. But this looks a golden opportunity for Illinois to get his Group 1, with 4-1 second-fav French Master moving up from handicaps. Backing shorties in a double like this wouldn't be my go-to method of punting. But if you put the pair together now you'd still get better than evens, with a £20 punt returning £48.44 with Ladbrokes. Rosallion a massive drifter for the Sussex as Field Of Gold jockey confirmed with Colin Keane banned from Goodwood

The markets don't often get it wrong SO SALLI CAN WAIT Rosallion a massive drifter for the Sussex as Field Of Gold jockey confirmed with Colin Keane banned from Goodwood Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SUPERSTAR miler Rosallion is a big drifter for next week's Sussex Stakes at Goodwood - as Field Of Gold's jockey was finally confirmed. Richard Hannon's multiple Group 1 winner has gone right out on the Betfair Exchange. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Richard Hannon has some big decisions to make on where he runs Rosallion next - but it looks like it may not be in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood Credit: PA He was second-fav for the £1million contest next Wednesday but has been usurped by Aidan O'Brien's Henri Matisse. Rosallion's price on the Exchange has ballooned from 5 (4-1) to 9 (8-1), while he remains a general 7-2 chance on sportsbooks. Hannon - who saw his stable star lose the Queen Anne by a nose on his last run - had said the 7f City Of York at next month's Ebor Festival could be on the cards. But he also said the 1m Prix Jacques Le Marois (worth around £200,000 more to the winner than the City Of York) is a strong possibility too. It's very unlikely he would do both given they are less than a week apart, with the French race on August 17 and City Of York August 23. Rosallion's drift came as William Buick was confirmed for the ride on Field Of Gold, who is already as short as 4-9 for the Sussex. Juddmonte's retained rider Colin Keane - who would have been on the top three-year-old - is banned from Goodwood after breaking whip rules at Sandown earlier this month. Buick was previously a jockey at Clarehaven and enjoys a good relationship with the horse's trainer John Gosden. Oisin Murphy has been totally overlooked in light of his ban and fine for drink-driving. Gosden said: "William came in and rode Field Of Gold this morning and if he's free next Wednesday he will ride, providing Godolphin don't supplement one into the race. "They worked nicely together and it's all systems go for Goodwood. "William and I have a long association going back to the pre-Frankie Dettori era."
