Georgia Voll rewarded for ‘sensational' summer with first Australia contract
Voll has been upgraded after becoming a regular member of the Australian side across all three formats during summer.
The 21-year-old's debut on the Cricket Australia list, released on Thursday, was no surprise given the remarkable start to her international career.
Since making her international debut in December, the Queenslander has already notched an ODI century and two T20 international half-centuries.
Flintoff, 22, has long been touted as a future Australian player, having come through the national player pathway and having been a member of various Australia A sides, Governor-General's XI and Green versus Gold fixtures.
The supremely talented Victorian allrounder blasted her way into the WBBL record books in 2022 when she smashed an incredible 16-ball half-century for the Melbourne Stars against the Adelaide Strikers.
'Tess is an exciting young player who we can see having a long future in the green and gold,'' said national selector Shawn Flegler.
'Having overcome injury, we're looking forward to seeing her fit and firing throughout summer, which adds further depth to our pace-bowling stocks.
'Georgia has made a sensational start to her international career, showing her immense talent from the onset and playing a pivotal role for the team in the absence of Alyssa Healy at the top of the order.
'Her ability to adapt to the various formats has been impressive and will come into play with an ODI World Cup later this year and a multi-format series against India in the new year.''
Veteran Jess Jonassen, who hasn't played for Australia since 2023, missed out on a contract.

But Flegler said the 32-year-old World Cup winner was certainly not out of the picture.
'While Jess Jonassen has not been included on this year's list, we're always keeping an eye on players outside of the squad and she is no exception,' he said.
Players not awarded contracts as part of the initial squad of 18 can earn upgrades by accruing 12 upgrade points. Players receive five points for a Test match, two for an ODI and two for a T20 International.
Cricket Australia 2025-26 contracted players
Darcie Brown, Tess Flintoff, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Heather Graham, Grace Harris, Alyssa Healy, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Tayla Vlaeminck, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham

World Cup final tipped to smash attendance record for women's rugby match
Tickets for the match on Saturday, September 27 have sold out, with approximately 82,000 supporters set to be at Allianz Stadium in south-west London. The existing record for a women's 15s fixture is 58,498, set as England clinched the 2023 Six Nations Grand Slam by beating France 38-33 at Twickenham. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, a crowd of 66,000 watched the opening day of the women's rugby sevens programme at Stade de France. The PA news agency understands governing body World Rugby believes it could have sold out the World Cup final, which will be immediately preceded by the bronze medal match, two or three times over. More than 375,000 of the 470,000 tickets available for the 32 World Cup games have been snapped up ahead of Friday's opener between England and the United States at Sunderland's Stadium of Light. Rugby World Cup 2025 chair Gill Whitehead said: 'The final, we are very confident will be the most attended women's rugby match in history, easily surpassing the 66,000 crowd that we saw in Paris 2024. 'I started playing women's rugby 30 years ago and the prospect of girls running out of the tunnel, playing to the three tiers of Allianz packed to the rafters is something perhaps I never hoped or thought I would see. It's certainly what girls' dreams are made of.' England last staged the competition in 2010 when a crowd of just over 13,000 watched the hosts beat current reigning champions New Zealand 13-10 in the final at Twickenham Stoop. Rugby World Cup 2025 managing director Sarah Massey said total ticket sales have already surpassed initial targets and are three times the number bought at the 2021 tournament in New Zealand, which took place a year later than planned due to the coronavirus pandemic. A crowd of 42,579 watched the Black Ferns claim the trophy in 2022 by defeating the Reds Roses 34-31 at Eden Park in Auckland. 'We're ready to break records in attendances, viewership and engagement,' Massey said. 'This is going to be the biggest global celebration of women's rugby that we have ever seen. 'Our message to fans is, don't miss out. This is going to be unmissable. You're going to see thrilling action, electric atmospheres, and those remaining tickets are really selling fast.'

Sir Gareth Southgate reflects on receiving PFA award that made him feel old
Southgate attended a gala dinner in Manchester on Tuesday to receive the award, which came after he guided England to consecutive European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024 as well as the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup during an eight-year spell in charge that ended last summer. Speaking to the PA news agency at the presentation, Southgate said: 'It's lovely to be recognised by the players because the last 10 years in particular, how the players felt has been really important to me. 🏆 Sir Gareth Southgate is the 2025 PFA Merit Award winner. Gareth will be recognised at tonight's #PFAawards for his outstanding contributions to English football. — PFA (@PFA) August 19, 2025 'Getting an award like this makes you realise you're getting old but other than that everything's good.' Southgate has not worked in management since leaving the England job after Euro 2024, despite being linked with several potential roles. The 54-year-old said he had not closed the door on a return, but did not sound like a man in a hurry to get back into a dugout. 'I'm enjoying my life,' he said. 'I've got quite a lot on. I'm in the middle of writing a book, I've got several interests. 'I do work on leadership, helping some young coaches. But I've also got time to travel and play a bit of golf and a bit of paddle tennis. I'm very much enjoying that balance. 'You can't say never to anything because 15 years ago I left Middlesbrough and I wasn't sure I would manage then and I ended up on a strange path into managing the national team. But it's not something I'm actively looking at at the moment.' A statement from the PFA announcing Southgate's award read: 'He is widely credited with breathing new life into the national team by integrating a new generation of young talent. 'He has overseen a period of unrivalled achievement by the men's national team, and has been an outstanding ambassador for the game – forging genuine connection between the country, the supporters, and the players.' Wrexham defender Conor Coady, part of Southgate's squad at Euro 2020, was also at Tuesday's awards and praised his former boss as 'an incredible man and incredible person'. 'I think what he's done for England and where he took England to was outstanding,' Coady told PA. 'As a person, I could speak about good people all day and he is one of them. 'What he's done for me individually, what he's done for the a team when I was part of the England setup was absolutely amazing. He fully deserves everything he gets.' Hayes was honoured by the PFA for her contributions to women's football. As Chelsea manager, Hayes guided the Blues to seven Women's Super League titles – including five in succession – as well as winning the FA Cup five times and the League Cup twice.
