Not long after the Philadelphia Eagles drafted Cooper DeJean in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, he became a favorite among the fan base. Before he begins his second year in the pros, the young defensive back opened up on one of his viral moments from the offseason.
Aside from his talents on the football field, DeJean is an all-around gifted athlete. Like many other pros, he thrived across numerous sports. When he wasn't taking care of business on the gridiron, DeJean also turned heads with his basketball skills.
Throughout his rookie campaign, fans constantly dug up old basketball clips from when DeJean was in high school. Before mandatory minicamp got underway, he showed he's still capable of delivering eye-popping moments.
Three weeks ago, the Eagles paid a visit to the University of Pennsylvania. While there, the group found themselves on the campus' basketball court. Saquon Barkley and DeJean took this moment as an opportunity to have some fun. The star running proceeded to throw a dazzling alley-oop that DeJean dunked home with ease.
During a recent episode of his "Exciting Mics" podcast, DeJean touched on this viral moment with teammate Reed Blankenship. He was slightly upset that this was the only clip caught on camera, as he felt he had better dunks that day.

"I feel like I had a lot better dunks then this one throughout the day but they weren't on camera. Then we needed to leave."

DeJean's athleticism helped him provide an immediate impact for the Eagles both defensively and as a kick returner at times. He shined in his first year in the pros, finishing fourth in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. DeJean also managed to deliver a memorable moment in the postseason, returning an interception for a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
Heading into his sophomore campaign with the Eagles, DeJean's athleticism could be further utilized in an expanded role. As minicamp continues, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he might use the standout defensive back at safety in some scenarios.
"We'd like to keep him at nickel, and then in our base package we'll find a spot for him, either at corner or safety," Fangio said. "A lot of it will end up depending on how the other guys develop and where we most need him."
DeJean has some experience playing safety from his time in college, which could make such a transition easy for him. Given his past experience, the Eagles might utilize his talents to fill the void left by C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Colin Cowherd Doesn't Hold Back on Aaron Rodgers Signing With Steelers

Colin Cowherd Doesn't Hold Back on Aaron Rodgers Signing With Steelers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After months of waiting, the Pittsburgh Steelers got their quarterback for the 2025 NFL season. Last week, Aaron Rodgers agreed to terms with the Steelers on a one-year contract worth $13.65 million. Since then, the speculation about how Rodgers will fare in the Steel City has been a major talking point by sports pundits. Advertisement On Wednesday, Colin Cowherd delivered his diagnosis of how he believes the Rodgers-Steelers partnership will play out during his show, "The Herd." "I think it's pretty clear it's going to be pretty bumpy. I think I'm doing Aaron a solid by (predicting a) 9-8 (record). My guess it could be 7-10," said Cowherd. Cowherd then began to list off elite quarterbacks from recent years who have switched teams late in their careers and categorized them into two camps: successful and unsuccessful. "Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, Philip Rivers went to Indy, Aaron Rodgers with the Jets, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton. Let's put them in two camps, one being successful. Brady won a Super Bowl. Stafford won a Super Bowl. Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl. Philip Rivers had a shockingly good year in his last year in the NFL in Indianapolis. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8).© Philip G. Pavely-Imagn Images "And then you have the other camp, the less successful camp," Cowherd continued. "The truth is if you have a defensive coach as an old quarterback who's past your prime. It's going to be turbulent. It's not going to be pretty. This is going to be hard." Advertisement Rodgers joined his Steelers teammates on Tuesday on the first day of mandatory minicamp, which runs for three days and concludes on Thursday. The 41-year-old quarterback told the media signing with Pittsburgh was "best for my soul" and pointed to head coach Mike Tomlin as a big reason for joining the Steelers. Rodgers finished last year with the New York Jets by passing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Steelers averaged 192.0 passing yards per game in 2024, ranking 27th, and allowed 49 sacks, tied for the ninth-most. Travis Kelce Reacts to Personal Announcement From One Of His ‘Favorite' Players

Travis Kelce Reacts to Personal Announcement From One Of His 'Favorite' Players originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is gearing up for what could be his final NFL season. The fastest tight end to reach 12,000 career receiving yards considered retiring after the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in early February but ultimately decided to return. Advertisement "My dog!!! I'm coming back for sure," Kelce said in a text message to ESPN's Pat McAfee on Feb. 27. Kelce recently attended his cousin's wedding alongside his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. The ceremony was held in Knoxville over the weekend, but it wasn't the only one they were invited to in span of a couple of days. The three-time Super Bowl champion was invited to Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet's wedding on Saturday but wasn't able to attend. It's clear love is in the air lately, as Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth announced on Monday that he's now engaged to his girlfriend, Jillian Cataldo. Freiermuth took to social media to share photos from his very special day in Boston, Massachusetts. Advertisement "Forever with you sounds good to me… cannot wait to marry you Jillian❤️💍," Freiermuth captioned his post. Kelce came across the post like many others. While it's possible he texted Freiermuth privately to congratulate him, he didn't leave a comment. He did, however, share a reaction with a like. Travis Kelce's like on Pat Pat Freiermuth's post.@patfreiermuth/Instagram Kelce hasn't been shy about sharing his love for Freiermuth's game on the football field. "No, Pat [Freiermuth] is actually, he's one of my favorite tight ends to watch, man," Kelce said in December on an episode of "New Heights." "He's savvy in his route running. He is very quarterback friendly, which he knows angles coming out to where he knows he can get a guaranteed catch and quarterbacks (expletive) love it with you come out of your breaks with certain angles, depending on where the defender closest to you is." The former Penn State Nittany Lion recorded 65 receptions for 653 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Border Patrol will be at the Club World Cup, says it's routine to provide security for such events

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it regularly provides security at big sporting events in response to questions about the agency's presence at the FIFA Club World Cup amid President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown. 'U.S. Customs and Border Protection is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the FIFA Club World Cup 26 is safe for everyone involved, as we do with every major sporting event, including the Super Bowl. Our mission remains unchanged,' the agency said Thursday in response to an inquiry by The Associated Press. The agency had previously deleted a social media post that said its officers would be 'suited and booted' for the opening round this weekend of Club World Cup games. FIFA President Gianni Infantino addressed questions about CBP involvement during an event earlier this week promoting Saturday's opener between Inter Miami and Al Ahly at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. 'No, I don't have any concerns about anything in the sense that we are already attentive on any security question,' Infantino said. 'Of course, the most important for us is to guarantee security for all fans who come to the games. And this is our priority.' Border Patrol agents have routinely been called in to help with security for large events, including the Super Bowl. They handle things like screening cargo shipments into stadiums for hazardous materials and contribute to emergency planning. At last year's Copa America final at Hard Rock Stadium, throngs of fans breached security gates and forced the game to be delayed. The Club World Cup opener Saturday comes amid protests in several cities over actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The Club World Cup features 32 teams from across the globe playing in 11 cities nationwide through July 13. ___ AP soccer:
