Brandon Graham reveals an unexpected rising voice in the Eagles locker room
Brandon Graham sees something bold in a rising Eagles voice. They say the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back. It's a way of life that's truer in football than in basketball. The Philadelphia Eagles are the evidence. Sure, Birds fans will keep an eye on former coaches and players, but there's no abandoning ship when anyone leaves. That's more of an NBA trait. LeBron James fans were Cleveland Cavaliers fans. They followed him to South Beach, back to Cleveland, and now, they're cheering for the Los Angeles Lakers. Can you imagine if such a sin were committed in the City of Brotherly Love? It would never happen. The faces change, but the train keeps on running. Brandon Graham names an heir, one you may not have expected We've learned a great deal while watching one era of Eagles football bleed into another. The game must be respected, and so many of the rules are familiar. Retire, or the game will retire you. Those who are lucky retire on their terms. Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, and Brandon Graham did that. They all played for Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, and Nick Sirianni. Kelce and Cox retired during the 2024 offseason. Graham called it quits this past March. When legends ride off into the sunset, there are huge shoes to fill. This wasn't any different. Losing three members of 'The Core Four' meant there were huge shoes to fill, both on the field and in the locker room. We may have found the emotional leaders necessary to fill Graham's sizable cleats. We've known Nolan Smith could do so for a while, but during an appearance on Exciting Mics, Graham mentioned another, Moro Ojomo. He's the heir to Graham's trash-talking dynasty. The 15-year legend mentioned another, the usually reserved Jalen Carter, but Carter's endorsement came with a warning label. Per the author of the greatest strip-sack in NFL history, once he gets rolling, it may be hard to reel him back in. NFL Films has captured Graham's legendary trash-talking moments for years, but Philadelphia is undoubtedly in good hands. Nolan Smith has often mentioned Graham as his big brother. Reed Blankenship expressed, during Exciting Mics, that he has already adopted his former teammate's leadership style. Something tells us the next 15 years of Eagles football will be just as exciting as the last 15.

Cooper DeJean embracing vocal leadership role in his second Eagles season
Cooper DeJean, in year two, is ready to lead Eagles defense from the front. You could watch football for another 30 years, and you may not see a more meteoric rise than we saw from Philadelphia Eagles star Cooper DeJean as a rookie. He went from being injured and unable to practice to stepping into the starting lineup after the bye week and crushing it. Seriously, we knew he was good. We had no idea that he would be this good. Throughout a magical ride of a campaign, he buried Derrick Henry in the open field in a one-on-one, mano-a-mano meeting of alpha males. In the Eagles' final game, one played on football's grandest stage, he housed a pick-six interception off the arm of the man seen as the best quarterback of his generation. That put the Eagles up 16-0 vs. the two-time defending Super Bowl champions. One could have placed him in the Super Bowl MVP conversation with Josh Sweat after that, as far as we're concerned. Then, Jalen Hurts threw 'the dagger' to DeVonta Smith, putting a capper on his night, and that took care of that. Make no mistake, though, DeJean, a finalist for the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award along with teammate Quinyon Mitchell this past season, is off to a hellacious start, and he's just scratching the surface of how good he can be. Cooper DeJean wants to be more of a vocal leader in his second Eagles season. One of the first things noticed about Philadelphia's defense is it's young. So many of its players are still enjoying their rookie contracts. The leaders are young, and that's a good thing. It will be fun to watch so much of this young talent grow up together, as they are still in their prime, yet. Sign DeJean up for one of those leadership roles. He wants to be more vocal in his second year. Something tells us he'll be a natural. He and his teammate and friend, Reed Blankenship, host their podcast, Exciting Mics, weekly. As the Eagles enjoyed their fourth training camp practice, we learned that he cracked the NFL's Top 100 Players list, a ranking compiled through players' votes. In other words, he has the respect of his peers. That's pretty awesome. IN 2023, DeJean was named a Unanimous All-American and as both the Big Ten's Defensive Back and Return Specialist of the Year. He also earned his second First-team All-Big Ten mention after previously winning the award a year earlier. Year one in the NFL landed him on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. We'll love seeing what he does for an encore. Big things are expected and rightfully so.

Brian Dawkins lends his Hall-of-Fame eyes to the analysis of an Eagles star defensive back
Weapon X is sold on Cooper DeJean. What else needs to be said now? Forgive the lack of knowledge for where this phrase originated, but its origin isn't as important as the phrase itself. 'One's opinion is only as valuable as a person's knowledge of a particular subject. Here's another way of stating the same thing. Who better to comment on the Philadelphia Eagles' brilliance than one of the best players to ever suit up in midnight or Kelly Green? The legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins certainly qualifies. He's on just about everyone's Eagles Mount Rushmore, and if he isn't on yours, you may want to rethink your evaluation strategy. Recently, he appeared as a guest on 94 WIP-FM during a live broadcast from training camp. He mentioned a rising star. Of course you're interested. Why on Earth wouldn't you be? Brian Dawkins joins the growing Cooper DeJean fan club Every time we think Cooper DeJean's star can't get any brighter, it does, so at this point, perhaps it's best to resign ourselves to theories about his brilliance and vast potential. His name recently earned a mention from one of the best DBs of his time, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins. What else needs to be said? When Weapon X talks about great DB talent, you will hear no rebuttal from this direction. It's year two for DeJean. He is already a Super Bowl champion. He picked off Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 59. Then, he wore a suit to the ring ceremony commemorating the moment. His teammate, A.J. Brown, sees the All-Pro potential. He's one of the hosts of the Exciting Mics podcast. His flame is indeed burning brightly, and it appears it will burn for a while. His collegiate career ended with him being named a Unanimous All-American. His professional career began with his inclusion on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. What will he do for an encore after a great rookie season? Time will tell, but, like Dawkins, the expectation is that another great campaign is coming.
