‘Are you for real?': Internet up in arms over Gwyneth Paltrow's strange kitchen act

News.com.aua day ago
Gwyneth Paltrow is back at it, shocking the internet once more.
This time it's not about vagina-scented candles, jade eggs, or forgetting she was in Spider-Man. She's being dragged for her latest 'unacceptable' kitchen move.
The Goop queen recently posted a video to Instagram showing off a lavish lobster breakfast she cooked for husband Brad Falchuk.
But while she was living her best bougie chef life, fans zeroed in on one particularly eyebrow-raising move.
In the clip, the 52-year-old is seen cracking eggs into a strainer and then, with shocking casualness, appears to let the egg whites just spill onto the floor before carrying on like nothing happened.
In the caption, she called it a 'paleo lobster benedict for a Hamptons-inspired #boyfriendbreakfast this morning,' with Phoenix's 'Girlfriend' blasting in the background.
Some followers were impressed that she even cooks at all.
'Even though you're a multi-millionaire celeb, you still do your own foraging and cooking, that's so great,' one fan gushed.
'I love the special breakfasts you make. My favourite meal of the day!!' another chimed in.
But plenty were completely weirded out by the eggwhite floor dump.
'Did I just see Gwyneth empty the remnants of the egg whites onto the floor? Tell me I didn't just see that,' one asked.
'Totally pour my egg whites on the floor too,' someone snarked.
Another questioned: 'Awesome, but did you just throw the leftover egg white on the floor?'
Some theorised she probably had help at the ready.
'She may have a servant on standby for clean-up,' one wrote.
Others tried to give her the benefit of the doubt.
'I saw it too, maybe there's a small bin underneath,' someone guessed.
Even with the hidden bin, the wastage had people infuriated.
One comment read: 'Discarding egg whites in the waste bin. Every chef rolling their eyes. Are you for real??'
Gwyneth is no stranger to going viral and baffling the world.
From the infamous $75 'This Smells Like My Vagina' candle launches to completely forgetting she'd been in Spider-Man: Homecoming during an interview with Jon Favreau, sparking confusion is just another day for the A-lister.
She met the recipient of the viral breakfast, her husband Brad Falchuk, on the set of Glee in 2010.
They kept things under wraps for years before tying the knot in 2018.
Brad, behind hits like Glee and American Horror Story, doesn't share any kids with Gwyneth.
But Brad is a stepdad to Apple and Moses, her kids with Chris Martin. And, she's stepmum to his kids Isabella and Brody from his previous marriage Suzanne Bukinik.
Egg-white gate isn't her first headline-grabbing kitchen post lately.
Last month, she posted herself cooking topless at the stove, with her daughter Apple cheekily calling her out in the comments.
'Did I steal your shirt by accident or …'
She also filmed herself tearing up over onions, while confessing what makes her cry.
The star also recently admitted that after years of strict paleo eating, she's had enough.
She's getting back on carbs.
'I'm getting back into eating sourdough bread, cheese — there, I said it — [and] a little pasta,' she said.

Feature Video: Geese - Taxes

New York rockers Geese have caught us completely off guard this week with a stunning work of artistsic misdirection, 'Taxes'. Stick with this one until the end. You will (probably) not regret it. Directed by Noel Paul, whose résumé includes music videos for the likes of Danny Brown, Mitski, Black Midi, Father John Misty and too many more works that will be familiar to regular rage viewers. Noel takes us down, down, down into this slow yet inevitable descent into madness and chaos, with all the bloody violence of a mosh-pit from in the depths of hell, and the painterly sensibilties of a baroque-period master. "The idea of a crowd in a small rock club going crazy came from the band." says Noel of the video's concept. "My approach was to take inspiration from medieval paintings of damned souls writhing in hell and chiaroscuro Caravaggios of people getting tortured and stuff." Observant viewers will be able to pick out all kinds of nods to mostly baroque artworks, emerging out from the tenebrous blackness of the dancefloor; Rubens, Carravaggio, and even some Francisco Goya. But even if you don't catch every musuem-worthy reference, the real intention of all this mayhem is just straight vibes. "To make sure it was more about vibe and less about heavy-handed references, we massively undercranked the camera so the footage would fly by so fast that people wouldn't have time to think about it." Says Noel, of the camera techniques that give the latter half of the video an ethereal, dreamlike quality. "My DoP Lea Taillefer, her team, my movement director Monica Mirabile , and our awesome cast did a great job moving in the way you need to move when you're shooting at such low FPS." With a music video that features crowds clawing at one another in the darkness, it's pretty apt that 'Taxes' arrives as the lead single off of Geese's third studio album Getting Killed, which is due out in September. Like the saying goes, nothing is certain except death and…

Glamorous presenter breaks silence after being branded ‘vulgar'

Italian presenter Eleonora Incardona has broken her silence after being called 'vulgar' by a critic. The glamorous DAZN star was one of several presenters who were criticised by Valentina Maceri for her choice of outfits, The Sun reports. Incardona, 34, starred for DAZN Italy during the broadcaster's coverage of the Club World Cup in the US. But Maceri was not impressed as she said: 'Incardona mainly presents the betting odds. 'And she does it very sexy. Sometimes vulgarly.' The criticism came after she published her new book: 'F*** Female Empowerment: The Great Mistake of Modern Feminism.' But Incardona has refused to change her ways, having broken her silence on the criticism. During an interview with Global Networker, she said: 'Style is clearly part of your personal and professional identity. 'How does fashion empower you in high-stakes, male-dominated environments like sports broadcasting? Fashion is my language. 'It helps me express who I am and feel confident, even in male-dominated or high-pressure environments. 'I never give up my femininity — on the contrary, I use it as a strength. 'When you feel good in your skin, you're ready for anything.' Maceri is not the only person to take exception to the outfits worn by Incardona. Fashion expert and stylist Sonja Grau has described a recent black dress of Incardona's as unsuitable for the 'business' world. The presenter shared a video of herself wearing the bold dress and doing keepy uppies pitchside. She told Bild: 'It doesn't make a serious impression. 'This is perfectly acceptable in leisure time, depending on the situation – for example, at the beach or a lake. 'But Ms. Incardona was in the business world and that's not professional in any way and has nothing to do with style. 'Bare midriffs and that low neckline don't belong in the office either. 'It's fine in her free time, but everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to score with.' Incardona stunned fans multiple times during the Club World Cup with her outfits. One instance was when the law graduate and former model went braless in a slinky dress for one match. Colleague Diletta Leotta was also the target of some of the criticism by Maceri. The blonde bombshell is a firm fan favourite on the screen with her near 10 million followers on social media.

‘Unapologetically heartful': Actors praise Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as it returns to resolve massive cliffhanger

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns to our television screens tonight with its third season – and with a promise that the charming earnestness of the franchise remains undiluted. Season two ended on one of the more dramatic cliffhangers in Star Trek's history, with the Enterprise locked in a seemingly hopeless struggle against a bloodthirsty, lizard-like race of aliens called the Gorn. When we last saw this crew, the ship was outnumbered and under heavy fire. Starfleet had ordered Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) to retreat. But multiple key members of his team, and hundreds of human colonists, had been abducted by the Gorn, and faced a horrific fate if Pike were to abandon them. Quite the impossible choice, then. Meanwhile his love interest, fellow Starfleet Captain Marie Batel (Malanie Scrofano), was quarantined in the Enterprise's sick bay and infected with Gorn young which, as we resume the story, are set to tear their way out of her, Alien -style, within hours unless a miraculous solution can be found. The season closed with a shot of Pike's tortured, indecisive face on the bridge, and his crew begging him for orders. So, the first order of business is to resolve that cliffhanger. Only then will Strange New Worlds be able to settle back into its usual rhythm. Speaking ahead of the new season's two-episode premiere, the show's actors stressed that it will remain true to the spirit of the franchise. 'I think, for me, personally, the thing about Star Trek that always touches me – and it has not dulled at all in the five years that we've been doing this show – it just opens my heart a lot to engage with it,' said Australian actress Jess Bush, who plays Nurse Christine Chapel. ' Star Trek is so unapologetically optimistic and heartful. It just believes in goodness, in the inherent goodness of humanity, and a positive version of what the future could be. 'What I find with a lot of other TV shows that I've watched is there's almost a cynicism, or self-deprecation, or you know, there's a fear of being earnestly pro -stuff. 'And Star Trek is really different in that way. It's just very positive, and wondrous, and curious, and really owns that characteristic for itself, which is something I am so proud to be a part of.' Another fairly unique quality of Star Trek is the freedom with which it can dip in and out of different genres. One episode might be serious and philosophical; the next a silly comedy; the next something approaching horror. Strange New Worlds has been criticised at times for its handling of this inconsistent tone, most famously after its, ahem, offbeat musical episode Subspace Rhapsody late in season two. That was immediately followed by a deeply dramatic finale, with its aforementioned cliffhanger. The actors, however, enjoy the dancing between genres, which gives them a chance to explore their characters more fully. One upcoming episode in season three features an early version of the holodeck, a staple of Star Trek later in the in-universe timeline. Christina Chong, who plays the outwardly serious security chief La'an Noonien-Singh, leads the cast in a Knives Out -style detective story. She described the episode as 'a huge gift'. 'I mean, to be able to number one, play a different character – or be La'an playing a different character – to be able to get into the film noir/sixties world, to be able to mash those two kind of periods together and play with all the amazing characters the writers created. The holodeck was an incredible excuse to do that,' said Chong. 'It was the most incredible episode. I cried at the end of it.' Asked whether it was difficult to pull off the show's tonal shifts, and to keep their characters feeling consistent and believable, Bush said it was, in fact, quite the opposite. 'Actually, I think it's an absolute gift for an actor to have that,' she said. 'As soon as I feel comfortable, they shift it to something else, and you're constantly moving and evolving in a way that's kind of like a jungle gym, for an actor. 'And I don't think you often get opportunities like that with long-running shows. So while it is challenging and thrilling. Like, actors are masochists.' 'Exactly. What other show do you get to do this on? Or will we ever get to do this on in our lifetime?' said Chong. 'It helps you feel more three-dimensional,' added Martin Quinn, introduced to Strange New Worlds' cast in season two's finale, who plays the beloved legacy character Scotty. 'You're learning so much more about your character as another episode, or another scenario, something completely different, comes up.' You can look forward to many of those wildly different scenarios as season three progresses. The show remains as eclectic as ever and, to steal Bush's term, unapologetically 'heartful' – as every Star Trek story should be.
