More MARC Train service over the weekend
MARYLAND (DC News Now) — The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) announced extra MARC Train service over the weekend.
MTA said in a post on X Wednesday that it would be adding extra service on Saturday, June 7.
This will add more rides between Penn Station in Baltimore and D.C.
WorldPride underway in DC for first time
MTA did say that bikes and scooters will not be permitted due to expected crowds.

Los Angeles took a huge step toward linking airplanes to trains on Friday, as the nation's fifth busiest hub joined the modern travel world and offered car-loving Southern Californians an off-ramp from traffic-clogged freeways. The LAX/Metro Transit Center is set to open at 5 p.m. PT and will connect travelers to the K or C rail lines, which can then whisk them north in the direction of central Los Angeles, south toward beach cities or east along Interstate 105. The breakthrough is an absolute necessity for organizers of the 2028 Olympics if they're going to fulfill their vow of making it a "no car Games." "This is a big day for L.A.," County Supervisor Janice Hahn said in a statement shortly after a ceremonial ride at the new station. Hahn, the MTA chair, used good humor and invoked the memory of an arch conservative to toast this new rail option. "President Reagan once said the nine most terrifying words were, 'I'm from the government, and I'm here to help.' But here in L.A., we know they have always been: 'Hey, can you give me a ride to LAX?'" quipped Hahn, the daughter of late political titan Kenneth Hahn who played a key role in bringing the Brooklyn Dodgers west in 1957. "Well now — for the first time ever — you can say: 'No way. Just take Metro.' ' This option still isn't a 100% tire-free experience. Arriving LAX passengers still have to take a bus shuttle, which is set to run every 10 minutes, from the airport to the new station, which is about two miles east of Terminal 1. The LAX People Mover is being built and targeted for completion by year's end. Once the People Mover is rolling, LAX will have rail service that its peers have offered for decades. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has been rolling passengers in and out of America's busiest airport, Hartsfield–Jackson, since 1988. And travelers going through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (2014), Denver International Airport (2016), Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (1984) and New York's John F. Metro-North and Amtrak in heavy delays after power line failure in Connecticut
Commuters in New York and Connecticut were experiencing heavy delays Friday morning, after a Thursday evening outage hampered Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad service through Connecticut. The overhead catenary power lines for all four tracks east of Westport failed shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday night, a transit source told the Daily News, bringing service on Metro-North's New Haven Line and Amtrak's Northeast Corridor to a halt. An MTA spokesman said crews worked through the night, enabling operation on at least one track in the overnight hours. By morning, service had been restored on two tracks, according to Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams. The first Metro-North train of the day, Train 1188 bound for NYC from New Haven, departed 15 minutes late and did not make all stops, an MTA spokesman said, and residual 15 minute delays had continued throughout the morning. Amtrak was reporting continued heavy rail congestion after the morning rush as repair work was ongoing. 'All services operating between Stamford and New Haven are currently experiencing a delay due to an electrical system outage, resulting in heavy rail congestion and speed restrictions in the area,' the federal railway said in a statement 'Our rail partner's track maintenance team is currently working to restore the electrical system.' The cause of the outage is still under investigation.

African immigrants in Maryland share concerns over Trump's travel ban impact
LANDOVER, Md. (DC News Now) — Some concerned African immigrants who live in Prince George's County are worried about President Trump's new travel ban and how it could impact them and their families. Sonia Staples grew up in Sierra Leone but moved to the United States as a teenager and lives in Prince George's County. She often travels to visit her family, but is concerned about how the President's travel ban could impact her. DC's National Airport will close during Army's June 14 party 'I feel like Sierra Leone is being picked on. What bothers me about this is that I was planning to go visit Sierra Leone in August, but right now I am very apprehensive about going because I don't know what the impact is. As an American, will they stop me from going?' Staples asked. Travel to the United States has been partially restricted for citizens from Sierra Leone. A Prince George's County spiritual leader who is the Imam at the Sierra Leone Jamaat Mosque, Teslim Alghali, is also worried. 'This now means what is going to happen. We just got this, and we don't know that much of what this entails. Our country of Sierra Leone is on the partial list of countries with a Partial Trump ban'. Alghali says that because of his concerns, he decided to visit his County Councilor Wala Blegay for support and guidance. 'Our biggest concern for African residents here who are planning to travel back and forth, and we have concerns for those who have pending applications for status, but this one impacts even those with green cards and those who are residents here planning to travel,' Blegay explained. Sonia Staples tells DC News Now she is hoping her country will be removed from the list. 'We are a peaceful nation, and we don't have terrorists.
