For every fan of Reneé Rapp's that's been asking, ad nauseum, 'where's the single,' the singer has a definitive answer — 'leave me alone, b—h, I wanna have fun.' On this rollicking, tongue-in-cheek meta-commentary, Rapp gives her fans everything they could have asked for with her return. The lyrics are just as unhinged and provocative as the singer herself, the production adds some rock vibes to her established pop'n'b sound, and the vibes are simply, immaculate. We don't predict anyone will be leaving
While St. Vincent has already shared a Spanish-language version of her standout track 'Violent Times' from All Born Screaming, the singer-songwriter certainly hasn't done so with rising singer-songwriter Mon Laferte. Now, 'Tiempos Violentos' is given a new edge, as the pair trade lines in English and Spanish, while expanding the jazzy, dark track to a new, broader world of sound that fits both artists like a glove.
It turns out when you take disco legend Cerrone and pace him with avant-pop chameleon Christine and the Queens, you get one of the most immediately enjoyable tracks of the year. On 'Catching Feelings,' the pair lean into their strengths and create a guitar & drum-driven disco-pop track that will have you grooving along within moments.
Goldfrapp fans, wake up! We got a new banger from Allison herself! 'Reverberotic,' the latest off the singer's forthcoming new album Flux, sees Goldfrapp embracing synth-pop, trance and a touch of soul to make for one of her most unique-sounding tracks to date. 'Reverberotic, wanna feel that again/ Vibrating light, a supernatural ascent,' she croons on the undulating chorus. 'Reverberotic, all your dreams in the cloud/ Your sweet elixir is a part of me now.'
It's been a good week for rising heavy metal rocker PINKNOISE. Not only did the fast-rising artist (known off-stage as Kacey Foxx) sign with Nettwerk Music Group, but they decided to celebrate that fact with a new track. On 'Bittersweet,' Foxx delivers the full range of their artistry, starting the song from a cool, quiet space before blowing up the premise and delivering a hard rock ballad that feels like it's being powered by jet fuel. If you haven't listened to PINKNOISE before today, let this be your official notice to go press play now.

Taiwan YA Content Gets Boost as PTS XS, Third Culture, S11 Launch Drama Lab (EXCLUSIVE)
Taiwan's burgeoning youth content sector is getting a major boost as international players join forces to nurture the next generation of Chinese-language storytellers. Third Culture Content (TCC), the Los Angeles and Seoul-based production company, has partnered with Taiwan's S11 Partners and PTS XS to launch 'All Star,' a Chinese-language incubator program targeting creators of young adult content. More from Variety Middle East-Taiwan Action-Comedy 'Masala Boba' Reunites Kleos, Light House at Cannes Market (EXCLUSIVE) Taiwan's Vie Vision Pictures Boards Cross-Cultural Action Comedy 'Demon Hunters' at Cannes Market (EXCLUSIVE) Taiwan Cinema Takes Global Ambitions to Hong Kong FilMart With Diverse Features and Series The initiative, officially dubbed 'All Star: Teens Drama Development Lab,' kicks off this summer with applications opening June 4. The program represents a strategic play to capture the increasingly valuable Gen Z and Alpha generation markets through authentic local storytelling with global appeal. In a two-phase structure, 30 selected Taiwanese creators will first participate in industry-led masterclasses before four standout projects advance to a six-month development lab working alongside Hollywood veterans. Select projects could potentially move into international co-production in 2026. High-caliber Hollywood mentors include Amy Rardin (producer, Marvel's 'Strange Academy' and 'Echo'), Jessica O'Toole ('American Girl' series, 'Invisible Sister'), and BAFTA winner Debbie Moon ('Wolfblood'). The program also offers an NT$260,000 ($8,600) script development grant per selected project. 'As the YA genre continues to grow globally, it remains relatively nascent in Asia,' said Janice Chua and Sean Dulake, TCC co-founders. 'This partnership offers a unique opportunity to explore and innovate within this space, combining the rich cultural nuances of Taiwan with our expertise in creating universally relatable stories.' The lab builds on established industry relationships, as TCC's Chua and S11's Cora Yim previously collaborated on 'Emerge,' another Taiwan-based development program that incubated five TV series and six features between 2022 and 2024. 'Adolescence is a powerful threshold – full of questions, change, and possibility,' said Yim. 'We're honored to partner with PTS XS and Third Culture Content on this teen drama development lab, giving young Taiwanese storytellers the tools to shape their own teen drama narratives.' PTS XS, which launched in 2024 as Taiwan's first cross-media platform exclusively for viewers aged 3-18, views the collaboration as strategic positioning in the competitive Asian youth content market. 'We are deeply grateful to our partners at Third Culture Content and S11 for their collaboration and expertise,' said Yu Pei Hua of PTS XS. 'Their support is instrumental in bringing this vision to life.' The initiative represents the latest in a series of development programs led by the partners. Yim previously drove Fox Creative Lab in 2018, while Chua and Dulake currently serve as faculty leads for CAPCA (Canada-Asia Pacific Co-Production Accelerator), which develops TV projects for North American distribution. 'Pulp Fiction's' Maria de Madeiros Receives Tribute at Guadalajara's Portugal Country of Honor Celebrations
Portugal has brought a bevy of producers, directors and actors to the 40th Guadalajara Film Festival where its Country of Honor celebrations include a tribute to Portuguese actor and director Maria de Medeiros at the fest's closing ceremony. 'Portugal is part of the Ibero-American community and I think that it's very important for us, as a Spanish-speaking country to have the Portuguese attending in force,' explains Estrella Araiza, Guadalajara's general director. More from Variety 40th Guadalajara Film Festival Opens With Mexico's First Stop-Motion Animated Feature 'I Am Frankelda' as It Launches New Genre Sidebar Zoe Saldaña, Rooney Mara, Nava Mau and Mexico's Oscar Submission 'Sujo' Among Stars and Films in GuadaLAjara Film Festival Lineup (EXCLUSIVE) Tribeca, Guadalajara, Tallinn, Rio, Sanfic Execs Map Out How Festivals Are Evolving in a Post-Pandemic Context (EXCLUSIVE) 'I think Portuguese cinema can definitely reinforce its ties with Latin America. It has a clear sensitivity for countries outside the European Union, which is very rare and precious. Every Portuguese film I've seen explores complex human situations and emotions. In a world wracked by convulsion, controversy and war, I think it's important to get back to core issues facing humanity.' Maria de Medeiros will provide a masterclass in which she will talk about her career, focusing on her directorial debut, 'Captains of April' (2000) about Portugal's 1974 revolution. Veteran producer Paulo Branco will give a masterclass on The Freedom to Make Films. Masterclasses on animation will be provided by João Gonzalez, who will discuss his Oscar-nominated short 'Ice Merchants,' and by Regina Pessoa who will talk about her creative process, spanning shorts such as 'The Night,' 'Tragic Story with Happy Ending' 'Kali, the Little Vampire' and 'Uncle Thomas, Accounting for the Days.' 'I've always admired Regina Pessoa's career,' says Araiza. 'It's a wonderful opportunity to have Portuguese animation directors meet our animation industry here in Jalisco. I think both our industries share a similar sensitivity. I think it's going to be a very good match!' A total of 38 Portuguese films will screen in the festival's various sections, including shorts, features, animation and documentaries. There are 10 Portuguese films in competitions, amongst 38 Portuguese films screening in the festival's various sections, including shorts, features, animation and documentaries. Paulo Carneiro's 'Savanna and the Mountain,' Albert Serra's 'Tardes de Soledad' and Takashi Sugimoto's 'Black Gold,' are competing for best Ibero-American documentary. Justin Amorim's 'Flying Carpet' is vying for best Ibero-American short and two Portuguese pics are competing for the Maguey Award, which celebrates LGBTQ cinema – Paula Tomás Marques' 'Twice João Liberated' and Justine Lemahieu's 'Them, Fado Bicha.' Salvador Gil's 'Rogéria' is shortlisted for the Youth Jury Award. Luís Chaby Vaz, president of Portugal's Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), is attending and was recently appointed executive secretary of the Conference of Ibero-American Cinematographic Authorities (CACI). 'Guadalajara is keen to attract large audiences to its screenings, which is a magnificent opportunity for our films,' says Chaby Vaz. 'I found their curatorial choices very interesting, since they touch on different eras, varying from our best-known directors, some of whom sadly are no longer with us, to contemporary productions which will premiere at the festival.' Portugal is a member of Ibermedia, has a bilateral co-production treaty with Brazil and a co-development agreement with Uruguay. A dedicated co-production meeting between Portuguese and Latin American producers will be held on June 7 and director Gonçalo Galvão Teles will pitch 'Rebeldia' in FICG's Co-production program and Filipe Bessa Vieira will pitch 'Rua Gisberta' in the Episode 0 sidebar. Portuguese films screening at Guadalajara include co-productions between Portugal and Latin America such as 'Dreaming with Lions,' by Greek-Portuguese director Paolo Marinou-Blanco, competing for best Ibero-American fiction feature film, and 'The Memory of Butterflies,' by Peruvian director, Tatiana Fuentes Sadowsk. Portugal is keen to increase its visibility in leading film festivals and last year was Country of Honor at the Annecy Animation Festival, where it staged an impressive showcase of one of its most vital and vibrant of filmmaking sectors. 'Portugal is a medium-sized European country and we're strongly committed to co-production which increases our creative options and financial capacity and guarantees more effective distribution,' Chaby Vaz explains. Portugal's presence at Guadalajara also includes a gastronomy event with Chef Kiko, one of Portugal's leading chefs, and a café concert with The Fado Bicha band. There will be an exhibition dedicated to Nuno Beato's stop-motion animated feature, 'My Grandfather's Demons' which had its world premiere at Annecy in 2022, and a showcase of Portuguese locations entitled 'Portugal is Art.' 'Mexico is a strategic market for us in terms of attracting film productions and at a wider level of tourism,' explains Ana Marques, executive director of the Portugal Film Commission who will also be attending. '17 billboards outside the festival building will showcase the diversity of our locations – not only to the general public but also to Latin American producers with whom we aim to promote co-productions.' 'This is a unique opportunity for our industry,' concludes Chaby Vaz. 'It enables our producers and talent to establish closer ties with producers in Latin America and specifically with Mexican producers, who are absolutely exceptional.' Chiquis Writes Her First Children's Book & More Uplifting Moments in Latin Music
From career milestones to new music releases to major announcements and those little important moments, Billboard editors highlight uplifting moments in Latin music. Here's what happened in the Latin music world this week. Earlier this year, Chiquis announced she was writing her first-ever children's book called The Girl Who Sings to Bees. This week, fans can pre-order the book set to hit shelves and online stores on July 15. Filled with life lessons that include healing, grief and confronting bullying, the book 'honors the relationship she had with her mom, finding solace from her grief in their shared love of music by singing to the bees in her abuelita's garden and the power to find her voice despite fear and bullying from peers,' according to a press release. The Girl Who Sings to Bees will go on sale in July and will be available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target, to name a few. Fans can pre-order here. Set to empower female tattoo artists, the weeklong program — helmed by tattoo artists Javi Cinco Ángeles and Juan Ramón RC and taking place in late August — will offer 40 hours of hands-on training and mentorship, where participants will learn the history of tattooing, techniques and aftercare procedures. Women living in Mexico City between the ages of 22 and 40 can apply now through July 1, by visiting the foundation's website. 'Patria y Vida,' the liberty anthem that fueled a new Cuban revolution and won two Latin Grammys in 2021, has become a full-length documentary set to hit U.S. theaters on July 11 via Spanglish Movies. Directed by Beatriz Luengo and starring Yotuel, the film features notable musical figures including Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Camila Cabello, Gente de Zona and Billboard's Leila Cobo. The song — penned by Yotuel (formerly of hip-hop group Orishas), Luengo, Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom (of Gente de Zona) and Descemer Bueno, and features Cuban voices from within the island, Maykel Osorbo and rapper El Funky — became the anthem of anti-government protests in Cuba. 'I felt we needed to show the two realities: those of us who live outside Cuba, and those who are still on the island, who live the streets there,' Yotuel previously told Billboard. Watch the trailer below: SiriusXM has launched the Siempre Selena radio channel, where for a limited time, fans will enjoy the Queen of Tejano's biggest hits. As part of the channel and ahead of its 30th anniversary, Suzette Quintanilla (sister of the late singer and Los Dinos member), opened up about Selena's Dreaming of You album, released posthumously, and which made history as the first predominately Spanish-language album to ever debut at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 in 1995. 'When Dreaming of You came out I didn't care,' Quintanilla expressed on the radio show. 'I was too much lost in my grief. I didn't know day or night, I didn't care about anything. And then I learned to love it and to understand what it represents. It hurt for a very long time to be able to listen to this album, but as time went by, I embraced that this is what sister left behind. This was her not completely fulfilling her dream of doing a whole album, but it's OK because at least we got this.' The Siempre Selena channel is available through July 3 on the SiriusXM app, and on satellite channel 79 from June 4 to 10.
