Golden Retriever 'Judges' Mom for Not Responding to Crying Baby Fast Enough
Dogs have a lot of human-like qualities. They are very gentle and loving, especially toward young children and babies, as if they sense their vulnerability. Canines also show great compassion to their loved ones, especially when they're ill or feeling sad.
Then there are those days when our dogs seem a bit disapproving of our actions in some way. Winston the Golden Retriever clearly had some thoughts on how his mom handled something at home and his expression spoke volumes.
In the TikTok from @winston.goldenpup, Winston appeared in a series of clips where he had a very judgmental look on his face. Regardless of his location, no words were needed to communicate his condescension.
"All the times my dog judged me for not jumping up fast enough when he hears the baby cry," the onscreen text explained, referring to the montage.
Winston apparently wasn't happy with his mom's response time to the crying baby, almost as if he could do a better job. The caption alluded to the pup's parenting thought process.
"His signature bombastic side eye instantly makes him a better parent than me," the text revealed.
Followers posted some hilarious thoughts on the fur baby's faultfinding attitude.
"Are you gonna take care of the baby or am I gonna have to step up?' one joked.
"He looks like he's about to call paw patrol," another pointed out.
"I've never seen a dog look so disappointed in someone before," a follower remarked.
"He said 'wow I really carry this household on my back',' someone posted.
Dogs Have Empathy for Crying Babies
Pet parents know how compassionate dogs can be, which is why pooches make such wonderful therapy and support animals. Canines can feel the emotions of those around them and even have a sympathetic response when they hear a baby crying.A previous study revealed that when dogs heard a baby's cry, they experienced a significant rise in their cortisol. Referred to as emotional contagion, dogs can mirror human emotions and feel empathy toward other people's pain. Just another reason to love our canine companions.
Winston's empathy for the baby may have morphed into judgment of his mom, but I'm sure his heart was in the right place.

Yuba City's Concerts in the Park are back after Hard Rock Sacramento steps up to sponsor event
Yuba City voters shot down a 1% sales tax hike in last November's election, sending a ripple through the city's budget and canceling a beloved event in the community, Concerts in the Park. But thanks to an unexpected sponsor, they're back on. "We went from it's not in the budget to hard rock stepped up and hello Yuba City," said Dave Shaw, mayor of Yuba City. Concerts in the Park are back. The series was canceled earlier this year after the city was facing a $1.2 million budget shortfall. "It's unfortunate, but I understand the city is tightening its belt for whatever reason it may be, and it's impacting the amount of money they can invest in improving the community," said Yuba City resident Dan Lopez. "When we first started this journey because of budgetary cuts, it was unfortunately these great things that were first on the chopping block," Shaw said. The summer concerts are well-loved by community members, so the city turned to Hard Rock Sacramento for help. "We wanted to be involved. We wanted to make sure that artists in our area have the opportunity to be spotlighted and, of course, people in the region can come out and enjoy a fun evening every Thursday night," said Mark Birtha, president of Hard Rock Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain. "I think it's great that they're stepping up and helping the community," said Lopez. "It's a form of entertainment, and it helps people pass the time in the evenings." The summer concerts are free, and everything is local, from the musicians to the vendors. But it is a hot August night. "Stay hydrated, bring water, bring an ice chest, get the towels that are wet," Shaw said. After Thursday, there will be four more Concerts in the Park. The event runs on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Yellowstone spinoff to film in Ferris, boosting hopes for tourism and growth
Popular television shows filmed on location have proven to boost the image and economies of the cities and towns that welcome them. That's what the city of Ferris is hoping will happen with the announcement that a new spinoff of the hit series Yellowstone will use it as a primary filming location. City leaders and business owners spoke with CBS News Texas about the excitement of seeing Ferris in the entertainment spotlight. With its western décor and a charming location in the historic downtown square, Javier Martinez believes his restaurant would be the perfect setting for the new show. "This decoration we have, when somebody walks in here for the first time, well, they like it," said Martinez, owner of Javier's restaurant. "Obviously the advertising will help us a lot." Martinez and other Ferris business owners could soon be opening their doors to some of the biggest names in Hollywood, both in front of and behind the cameras. Beth and Rip, two of the most popular characters from Yellowstone, will be featured in the new spinoff. Production company 101 Studios has notified the city that Ferris has been chosen as one of the primary locations for the project, which has been described as a hopeful multi-season production. Charlie Hatfield, a Ferris city councilmember and longtime publisher of the Ellis County Press, said he's a fan of Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and hopes the show will bring growth to the area. "I'm a big fan of Taylor Sheridan — Tulsa King, Lioness, Landman, the whole nine yards," Hatfield said. "This would do nothing but help us grow." Hatfield added that even a small cameo for his newspaper would be a thrill. "As long as they get the newspaper in a long shot, I'm happy with that," he said. City leaders say they don't yet know when production will begin, only that Ferris will serve as a primary location for the new show. "I think it's just a picturesque town that's unique," Hatfield said. "I live two blocks from work and I walk anywhere I wanna go and people are friendly, and I think that's part of the charm of our city." Southfork Ranch in Parker County remains a tourist destination more than 30 years after the original Dallas series ended. Filming locations for Landman in Fort Worth are also becoming must-see attractions for fans. Ferris, a town of about 5,000 located 18 miles south of Dallas, is preparing to be the next.
